IN THE MATTER OF THE LAND ACQUISITION ORDINANCE 1946
(No. 22 of 1946.)
AND
IN THE MATTER OF THE ACQUISITION by the Administrator in Council
of a certain parcel of land at Calliaqua in the Parish of St. George for a
public purpose.
DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND.
(FIRST PUBLICATION.)
(Gazetted 26th March, 1968).
WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
1946 (No. 22 of 1946) that if the Administrator in Council considers that any
land should be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to
that effect to be made:
AN WHzREAS it is considered by the Administrator in Council tht thJ
undermentioned parcel of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit,
the improvement of the Calliaqua Bridge and approach to same:
Now IT Is HEREBY DECLARE by His Honour the Administrator acting in
accordance with the advice of the Executive Council of the Colony of Saint
Vincent that upon the Second Publication of this Declaration in the Gazette all
that parcel of land at Calliaqua in the Parish of St. George the property of
Mr. Lisle Gill measuring 5,857 square feet shall vest absolutely in the Crown.
AND IT Is HRasBY FUwrHsR DECLARED AND NOTIFIED that a plan bearing
the Number G591 showing the above mentioned parcel of land has been prepared
by Clifford E. R. Williams Licensed Land Surveyor and lodged on the 11th

day of December 1967 at the Lands and Surveys Department of Kingstown
in the said Colony and can be inspected at all reasonable hours at the said
Department.

TENDERS FOR SUPPLY OF FOOD
YEAST BISCUITS.

Tenders are hereby invited for the
supply of Food Yeast Biscuits to the
Education Department during the year
ending 31st December, 1968.
The estimated requirements are 1,350
tins per annum and the supplier must
guarantee to supply 450 tins at the be-
ginning of each term and to deliver same
in good condition at Primary Schools on
the mainland and in the Grenadines as
directed by the Education Officer.
Any delivery charge should be stated
in the Tender separate from the actual
price of the commodity.
Tenders which will be received up to
3.00 p.m. on Monday, 8th April, 1968,
must be sealed and addressed to the
Secretary, Central Supply Tenders
Board, Ministry of Finance, and marked
on the envelope "Tenders for the Supply
of Food Yeast Biscuits."
Government does not bind itself to
accept the lowest or any tender.

with the appropriate correction.

COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIPS
AND FELLOWSHIPS-MALAYSIA

The Government of Malaysia has in-
vited applications for the award of
Commonwealth Scholarships and Fel-
lowships tenable at Universities in
Malaysia to suitable men and women
from the West Indies under its Com-
monwealth Scholarships and Fellow-
ships Plan 1969.
Applicants should not have reached
their 35th birthday by 1st January,
1969, but in special circumstances this
age limit may be raised.
These scholarships and fellowships
are awarded for advanced study or
research and are open to students who
before they take up a scholarship hold
a Bachelor's or Master's Degree from
a recognized University or some equi-
valent qualification.
Awards will normally be made for a
period of two academic years except
in cases where a shorter period is re-
quired to complete the programme for
which the award is granted.
Each scholarship covers expenses
for travel, living and study during its
tenure.
Successful candidates must give an
undertaking to return to St. Vincent
at the end of their scholarship period.
Applications must be made through
unit Governments in septuplicate,
and on prescribed forms available from
the Establishment Division, Kingstown,
St. Vincent from which further infor-
mation on these scholarships could be
obtained. Applications must be for-
warded to the Establishment Division
not later than 31st March, 1968. Ap-
plications that are incomplete or are

not supported by the required docu-
ments will not be entertained.

INCOME TAX NOTICE.

TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

The attention of the general public is
drawn to the fact that the new Income
Tax Ordinance, No. 21 of 1967, provides
as follows:-
"Except in the case of deduction of
tax on payment of emoluments tax shall
be payable on the. first day of July in
the year of assessment or within one
month of the date of issue of the notice
of assessment whichever shall be the
later date."
In view of these provisions every per-
son concerned is urged to comply with
the requirement to furnish the necessary
returns not later than March 31st, 1968.


In this connection it is pointed out
that failure or neglect to render any re-
turn or statement as required is an
offence under the above mentioned Or-
dinance.

NAMES ORDINANCE NO. 30
OF 1950.

It has been brought to my notice
that a number of Firms and Indivi-
duals carry on Business in the Colony
without registering particulars in the
manner prescribed by the above men-
tioned Ordinance.

THE ORDINANCE DIRECTS
THAT:

(a) Every Firm having a place of
Business in the Colony and
carrying on Business under a
Business Name which does not
consist of the true Surnames of
all P partners .. ................. .................
(b) Every Individual having a place
of Business in the Colony and
carrying on Business under a
Business name which does not
consist of his true Surname............
(e) Every Individual or Firm hav-
ing a place of Business in the
Colony who or a member of
which has either before or after
the commencement of this Ordi-
nance changed his name except
in the case of a woman in con-
sequence of Marriage shall be
registered in the manner direc-
ted by this Ordinance......................
Information as to the manner in
which registration of Business Names
is to be effected can be obtained from
the Registrar, the Registry, King town.
Please take notice that the time for
Registration of a Business Name is
fourteen days after the firm or person
commences Business; and every part-
ner in the firm or a person who carries
on Business in default of Registration
shall be liable to a fine not exceeding
Twenty-four dollars for a first offence
and for any subsequent offence to a
fine of five dollars for every day during
which the default continues.

Clause 1: Delete the full-stop after the word "thereto" at end of
line 5, and add the words "and shall be deemed to have come into operation
on the 1st day of January, 1968.".

Clause 2: Insert the words "which shall be paid into the general
revenue of the Colony on registration of the licence" after the word "fee"
at line 6.

Clause 3, Schedule, sub-clause 3: Substitute the word "Mortgagee"
for the word "Mortgagor" at end.
