VACANT POSTS OF LAND SURVEYORS,
MINISTRY FOR TRADE & PRODUCTION

Lands and Surveys Department, Gov-
ernment of St. Vincent

Applications are invited for the ap-
pointment to two vacant posts of Sur-
veyor, Lands and Surveys Department,
St. Vincent, West Indies.
Surveyors, preferably not over forty
(40) years of age are required to under-
take surveying for cadastral purposes,
also surveying of a topographical and
engineering nature. Qualifications are
either Intermediate R..I.C.S. (Land Sur-
veying) or exemption therefrom; or a
licence to practice as a Surveyor in
Trinidad, Jamaica, Guyana, The Wind-
ward or Leeward Islands.


Salary according to qualifications and
experience in the scale:-
(a) $4,884 X $180-$5,064 X $240
-$6,240/$6,480 X $240-$7,440
(b) To pass the bar in the scale ap-
plicants must have the A.R.I.C.S.
Appointment: On Contract for one
tour of three years, the other to the
permanent pensionable establishment.
Applications giving full name, age,
and particulars of qualifications and
experience should be sent to the Estab-
lishment Officer, Government Office,
Kingstown, to reach him not later than
the 30th August, 1967..

VACANCIES FOR JUNIOR AGRICULTURAL
INSTRUCTORS, MINISTRY OF TRADE,
PRODUCTION, LABOUR AND TOURISM,
ST. VINCENT.

Applications are invited from suit-
ably qualified candidates for five vacant
posts of Junior Agricultural Instructor
in the Department of Agriculture, Min-
istry of Trade, Production, Labour and
Tourism.
Applicants who have passes in Botany
or Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and
English Language at ordinary level, or
better still at advanced level of G.C.E.,
will be given preference when applica-
tions are considered.
The appointments are pensionable
and will be for a probationary period
of two years in the first instance.
The salary of the post is $1,392 X
$84-$1,560 X $96-$2,040 X $120-
$2,880. Travelling.. allowance is payable
also in accordance with local regula-
tions in respect of a means of transport
approved by the administration.
Quarters are not provided nor any
allowance in lieu thereof.
The duties of the post include the
development and general supervision of
peasant agriculture with special refer-
ence to soil conservation, land usage,
co-operative processing and marketing
of crops, livestock development, the ad-
ministration of laws relating to agri-
culture and such other duties as may
be required to be performed from time
to time.
The successful candidates will be sub-
ject to the Colonial Regulations, the
General Orders and Store Rules of the
Windward Islands, and to the various
ordinances and subsidiary legislation in
force in the Territory in as far as they
are applicable..

EDUCATION NOTICE

EVENING CLASSES 1967/68.

Evening Classes leading to the Gen-
eral Certificate of Education, Ordinary
Level, will commence on 11th Septem-
ber, 1967 at the Grammar School.
Tuition will be offered in the following
subjects:- English Language, English
Literature, Arithmetic, Algebra, Geom-
etry, Geography, Histor y, Health
Science, Biology and Bible Knowledge.
Completed ENTRY FORMS together
with Treasury Receipts to show that
tuition fees have been paid must be
returned to the Education Department
not later than 15th August, 1967. Ap-
plications to attend Evening Classes
will not be received after this date and
applicants whose fees are not paid will
not be allowed to attend classes.
All interested persons are advised to
enrol early as the number of places in
each class will be limited.

PRESS RELEASE

According to a release from the Agri-
.ulture Department plants such as
oranges, ortaniques, grapefruit, limes,
tangerines, mangoes, avocado pears,
cocoa, nutmegs, blackpepper, passion
fruit will be sold to the public at 10c.
per plant.
The price for ornamental plants will
remain the same.
