of State for Commonwealth Affairs has
notified that Her Majesty the QUEEN will
,ot be advod to exercise her power of
disallowance in respect of the following
Ordinance of this Government:-

No. 17 of 1966.-An Ordinance to
provide a further opportunity for
the due and proper enrollment of
persons qualified to vote in each
of the three Wards of the Kings-
town Town Board, to alter the date
of the election of Members of the
Board required by law to be held
in the year 1966, to provide for the
continuance of the Board in the
meantime, and to make provisions
for purposes connected therewith.

provide for the control and regula-
tion of the Arrowroot Industry
and for the production of Arrow-
root; and for matters incidental

POLICE NOTICE.

IT IS HIEREBY NOTIFIED for general
information that GIVE WAY traffic
signs are erected on Melville Street and
Paul's Avenue Road at their junction
with Grenville Street (Back Street).
Owners of Vehicles are requested that
on approaching these junctions to pay
cognizance to these signs and give way
to traffic travelling along Grenville
Street.

APPEALS AGAINST ASSESSMENT.

It is notified for general information
that in accordance with Section 42 of
the Local Government Ordinance No. 17
of 1951, the Magistrate of the Second
District will hold a Special Session
for the purpose of hearing Appeals
against Assessment by the Calliaqua
Town Board for the year 1967.

TREASURY NOTICE

MISSING "SPECIMEN" NOTES

Certain of the "Specimen" Notes
which were on display when the East
Caribbean Currency Notes were issued
in September, 1965 to various terri-
tories, are missing and have entered
into circulation.
The notes are in the denominations
of $1, $5, $20, and $100; and all bear
the signature of Mr. D. W. Spiers, and
are identical with issued notes of the
same denominations save that they all
bear the serial number Al 000 000, and
are over printed diagonally with the
word "SPECIMEN" on both sides.
Members of the public are warned
to be on the alert especially when re-
ceiving $20 and $100 notes, and should
report any appearance of them to the
Currency Officer or Police.

into force on the 21st of July 1966, as notified in Government Gazette No. 42 of
1966 will remain in force for the General Elections of 1967.

THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL (ELECTIONS) ORDINANCE, 1951.
(SECTION 21).

NOTICE OF NOMINATION.

His Honour the Administrator having issued his writs for the Election of
members of the Legislative Council for the Electoral Districts of the Territory,
the Returning Officers of the said Districts will on the 2nd day of May, 1967
now next ensuing between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon at the places hereinafter
mentioned proceed to the nomination, and if there is no opposition, to the elec-
tion of members for the said Electoral Districts.
Forms of Nomination Papers may be obtained at the Offiees of the Return-
ing Officers between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily except on Wednesdays
when the Offices will be closed at 12 noon (Sundays also excepted).
Every nomination paper must be signed by any -ix (.r more electors
qualified to vote in the Electoral District for which 2. candidate is seeking
election, and be handed to the Returning Officer between the said hours of 9 a.m.
and noon.
No nomination papers shall be valid or acted upon by the Returning Officer
unless it is accompanied by---
(a) the consent in writing of the person therein i- inated
(b) a deposit of one hundred and twenty dolla 's in ca-h, and
(c) the required statutory declaration, Form 25 or 26A.
In the event of the election being contested the P R' will take place between
the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday the 19th day of May, 1967.
The names of the Returning Officers and the places where they will receive
nomination papers for the Electoral Districts of the Territory are as follows:---

STATUTORY R_


ORDERS,

1. Short title and commencem t'i" .. these Regulations may be cited
as the Legislative Council (Elections Laws) (Modifications) Regulations, 1967,
and shall be read as one with the Legislative Council (Elections) Ordinance,
1951, and all amendments thereto.
(2) These Regulations shall come into force on the 18th day of April,
1967.

2. Interpretation. In these Regulations-
"the Ordinance" means the Legislative Council (Elections) Ordinance,
1951, and all amendments thereto, as in force on the day on which these
Regulations come into force.
3. Modifications etc. of the Ordinance. The provisions of the Ordinance
which are specified in the first column of the Schedule hereunder shall have
effect subject to the adaptations, modifications or exceptions specified in the
second column of that Schedule.

SCHEDULE.


Modification etc.
In the definition of "election officer" for the words "in-
cludes the Supervisor of Elections" substitute the words
"includes the Supervisor of Elections, the Assistant
Supervisor of Elections".
(a) Re-number the section as subsection 13 (1) and .add
the following subsection as subsection (2):-
(2) The Administrator, acting in his discretion,
may appoint an Assistant Supervisor of Elections
who shall receive such remuneration as may be pres-
cribed and who, subject to the authority, directions
'.and control of the Supervisor of Elections, shall
have all the powers and may perform any of the
duties of the Supervisor of Elections. "

Section Modification etc.

13 (b) Delete the marginal note and substitute therefore
"Appointment, powers and duties of Supervisor of
Elections and Assistant Supervisor of Elections."
21 Delete the words "and one or more newspapers".
26 (2) For the words "in one or more newspapers" substitute the
words "in the Gazette".
42 Delete subsection (3) and substitute therefore the follow-
ing:-
"(3) The elector on receiving the ballot paper
shall forthwith enter one of the polling compart-
ments and there secretly mark his ballot paper with
the pencil provided for that purpose, and he shall
then fold the ballot as directed so that the initials
and the numbers on the counterfoil can be seen
without opening it, and hand the paper to the presid-
ing officer who shall, without unfolding it, ascertain
by examination of the initials and numbers appearing
thereon that it is the same paper as that delivered
to the elector and if the same he shall forthwith in
full view of the voter and all others present remove
the counterfoil and deposit the ballot in the ballot
box."
47 (a) In the first line of subsection (2), for the words "shall
reject" substitute the words "shall, subject to subsec-
tion (3) of this section, reject".
(b) Re-number subsections (3), (4), (5), (6), (7), (8),
(9), (10), (11), (12) and (13) as subsections (4), (5),
(6), (7), (8), (9), (10), (11), (12), (13) and (14)
respectively, and add the following subsection as sub-
section (3) :-
(3) A ballot paper on which the vote is. marked-
(a) elsewhere than in the proper place; or
(b) otherwise than by means of a cross; or
(c) by more than one mark;
shall not by reason thereof be rejected if an intention
that the vote shall be for one or other of the candidates
clearly appears, and the way the paper is marked does
not of itself identify the voter and it is not shown that
he can be identified thereby.''

Modification etc. Section

(c) In subsection (6), as renumbered, for the words "or 47
subsection (3), or subsection (4) substitute the words
"or subsection (3) or subsection (4), or subsection
(5) ".
