IN THE MATTER OF THE LAND ACQUISITION ORDINANCE 1946
(No. 22 of 1946)
AND
IN THE MATTER OF THE ACQUISITION by the Administrator in Council
of a certain parcel of land at Prospect in the Parish of St. George for a
public purpose.
DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND.
(FIRST PUBLICATION.)
(Gazetted 6th September, 1966.)
WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
1946 (No. 22 of 1946) that if the Administrator in Council considers that any
land should be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to
that effect to be made:
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Administrator in Council that the
undermentioned parcel of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit,
the provision of a public playing field:
Now IT Is HEREBY DECLARED by His Honour the Administrator acting in
accordance with the advice of the Executive Council of the Colony of Saint
Vincent that upon the Second Publication of this Declaration in the Gazette all
that parcel of land at Prospect in the Parish of St. George the property of
G. H. Charles measuring two acres one rood fourteen poles in area and bounded
on the North by an Allotment Road on the South by the Estate of the late
Hilda Punnett on the East partly by the said Allotment Road and partly by
Prospect Estate belonging to the said Hilda Punnett on the West by a Gutter
shall vest absolutely in the Crown.

AND IT Is HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED AND NOTIFIED that a plan bearing
the Number G. 557 showing the above mentioned parcel of land has been pre-
pared by K. E. V. John Licensed Land Surveyor and lodged on the 30th day of
March, 1966 at the Lands and Surveys Department of Kingstown in the said
Colony and can be inspected at all reasonable hours at the said Department.

STATEMENT OF REDISTRIBUTION OF
RESPONSIBILITIES AMONG
MINISTERS.

It is notified for public information
that the Administrator, by virtue of
the power and authority vested in him
by the Saint Vincent (Constitution)
Order in Council, 1959, has, on the
advice of the Chief Minister, assigned
the department or subject of Housing
to the Minister for Trade, Production,
Labour and Tourism instead of to the
Chief Minister.

ACTING APPOINTMENT.

Consequent on the absence of the
Hon. E. T. JOSHUA, Chief Minister,
from the Territory on official duty the
Hun. E. F. ADAMS, Minister for Trade,
Production, Labour and Tourism has
been appointed to act as Chief Minister
in conjunction with his substantive
duties with effect from 3rd September,
1966, and until further notice.

VACANT POSTS.

Applications are invited from suit-
ably qualified persons for appointment
to the post of Senior Master/Mistress,
Dominica Grammar School.
1. Appointment:
The post is on the permanent and
pensionable establishment and the ap-
pointment is subject to medical fit-
ness and a probationary period of
2 years.
2. Salary:
The salary is in the scale $3,804
X 180-$5,604 X 240-$6,084 per
annum.


3. Duties:
The officer will be required to carry
out such functions and duties as are
normally assigned to Senior Masters/
Mistresses at Secondary Schools and
in particular to be responsible for
the teaching of Mathematics up to
the advanced level standard of the
G.C.E. The Officer will also be re-
quired to perform any other duties
assigned to him/her from time to
time by the Administrator through
the head of his/her department.
4. Quarters:
Quarters are not provided.
5. Leave and Leave Passages:
Leave and Leave Passages will be
granted in accordance with local
General Orders.
6. Medical Attention:
Free medical attendance and medi-
cines are not provided.
7. General:
The officer will be subject to the
Colonial Regulations and local Gen-
eral Orders and Subsidiary legislation
in so far as they are applicable. The
officer will be liable to all taxation
imposed by local enactments.
Applicants should have a University
degree and preferably a Diploma in
Education.
Applications should be addressed to
the Chief Secretary Administrator's
Office, Dominica, and should reach him
not later than 20th September, 1966.

POST OF ENGINEERING ASSISTANT
(WORKS), PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT,
ST. VINCENT.

Applications are invited from persons
holding a Diploma in Draughting and
Estimating, or other equivalent quali-
fication, for appointment, on contract
for two years, to the post of Engineer-
ing Assistant (Works), Public Works
Department, St. Vincent.
The Salary scale of the post is $3,984
X 180-$4,524/4704 X 180-$5,244

and the commencing point therein will
depend on the qualifications and expe-
rience of the successful applicant.
The duties of the post include respon-
sibility for the proper running of the
Estimating and Drawing Division of
the Public Works Department, and the
control of the Staff; preparation of
plans, estimates and Bills of Quantities
for building projects, supervision of
construction work in the field, and any
other duties of a similar nature which
may be assigned to the holder of the
post.
Quarters are not provided.
Transport Allowance is payable in
accordance with local regulations.
Applications in writing should be
addressed to the Chief Secretary, Gov-
ernment Office, St. Vincent, and should
reach him not later than 24th Septem-
ber, 1966 and should bh accompanied by
proof of education and technical quali-
fications, and three (3) testimonials.

VACANCY FOR THE POST OF HOUSE
OFFICER, COLONIAL HOSPITAL,
ST. VINCENT.

Applications are invited from quali-
fied practitioners for the post of House
Officer at the Colonial Hospital (208
beds) St. Vincent.
2. Appointment-The post is not at
present pensionable, but steps will be
taken to make it pensionable, with op-.
portunities for transfer to the post of
District Medical Officer. Appointment
may be on contract for a period of 2
years in the first instance, if a contract
appointment is required. In the case of
a contract appointment a gratuity of
121% of salary is payable on the satis-
factory completion of the contract.
3. Salary-Salary is in the scale
$5,280 X $240-$6,240/$6,480 X $240
-$7,440. Commencing salary will be
determined according to post graduate
experience. Private practice is not per-
mitted but in lieu an allowance of $900,
$1,200 and $1,500 per annum respec-
tively, will be paid in respect of the
1st, 2nd or 3rd and subsequent years
after qualification.
4. Further information as to the du-
ties of the post of House Officer, and
conditions of service is obtainable on
request from the Chief Secretary, the
Secretariat, St. Vincent.
5. Applications with two testimonials
and particulars of age, qualifications


and experience of the applicant should
be submitted to reach the Chief Secre-
tary, St. Vincent, not later than 15th
September, 1966.

Order in Council, 1959, that the sessions of the Legislative Council shall be
held at such times, and places as the Administrator may appoint by Proclama-
tion published in the Gazette:
AND WHEREAS I think it is expedient that there shall be a session of the
Legislative Council:
Now, THEREFORE, I do by this my proclamation summon the said Legislative
Council to meet at the Court House in the Town of Kingstown in the Colony of
Saint Vincent, on Thursday the 15th day of September, 1966, at ten o'clock
in the forenoon for the despatch of public business:
