GENERAL ELECTIONS, 1966.
ELECTORAL LISTS.
It is notified for general information that the lists of electors for the year
1966 in respect of the various electoral districts of the Colony have been
brought into force with effect from the 21st July, 1966.
A copy of these lists may be seen at Government Office, Kingstown Library,
and at all the Revenue Offices, District Post Offices and Police Stations. Copies
are also available for sale.
Candidates for election may obtain one copy of these lists free of charge
on application to the Supervisor of Elections.

THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL (ELECTIONS) ORDINANCE, 1951.
(SECTION 21.)


NOTICE OF NOMINATION.


His Honour the Administrator having issued his writs for the Election of
members of the Legislative Council for the Electoral Districts of the Colony,
the Returning Officers of the said Districts will on the 4th day of August, 1966,
now next ensuing between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon at the places hereinafter
mentioned proceed to the nomination, and if there is no opposition, to the
election of members for the said Electoral Districts.

Forms of Nomination Papers may be obtained at the offices of the Return-
ing Officers between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily except on Wednesdays
when the offices wiil be closed at noon (Sunday also excepted).

Every Nomination Paper must be signed by any six or more electors
qualified to vote in the Electoral District for which a candidate is seeking
election, and be handed to the Returning Officer between the said hours of 9 a.m.
and noon.

No Nomination Papers shall be valid or acted upon by the Returning
Officer unless it is accompanied by-
(a) the consent in writing of the person therein nominated;
(b) a deposit of one hundred and twenty dollars in cash; and
(c) the required statutory declaration, Form 26 or 26A.

In the event of the election being contested the Poll will take place between
the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday the 22nd day of August, 1966.

The names of the Returning Officers and the places where they will receive
Nomination Papers for the Electoral Districts of the Colony are as follows:-

WITEREAS by section 6C of the Legislative Council (Elections) Ordinance,
1951, (No. 13 of 1951) as inserted therein by section 4 of the Legislative
Council (Elections) (Amendment) Ordinance, 1960, (No. 9 of 1960) it is
provided that every list of electors shall come into force on such date as the
Administrator may by Proclamation appoint and shad remain in force until
the list of electors next compiled comes into force:
AND WHEREAS lists of electors have been compiled in the year One
thousand nine hundred and sixty-six in pursuance of the provisions of the
Legislative Council (Elections) Ordinance, 1951, as amended, for each polling
division comprised within the nine electoral districts:
AND WHEREAS it is expedient that the lists of electors so compiled shall
come into force on the twenty-first day of July, One thousand nine hundred
and sixty-six:
Now THEREFORE, by virtue of the powers conferred upon me as aforesaid,
and acting in accordance with the advice of the Executive Council, I Do
HEREBY PROCLAIM the twenty-first day of July,. One thousand nine hundred
and sixty-six as the date on which the said lists of electors shall come into force.
GIVEN under my, hand and the Public Seal of the Colony of Saint Vincent
at Government House in the said Colony this twentieth day of July
in the year of Our Lord One thousand nine hundred and sixty-six
and in the Fifteenth Year .of the Reign of Her Majesty QUEEN
ELIZABETH THE SECOND.

WHEREAS by section 47 of the Saint Vincent (Constitution) Order in
Council, 1959, it is provided inter alia that a general election of elected members
of the Legislative Council shall be held at such time within three months after
every dissolution of the Council as the Administrator shall appoint by proclama-
tion published in the Gazette:
AND WHEREAS the Legislative Council was dissolved on the 24th day of
May, 1966, by Statutory Rule and Order, No. 14 of 1966.
Now THEREFORE I, by virtue of the powers conferred upon me as aforesaid
and acting in accordance with the advice of the Executive Council Do HEREBY
appoint the 22nd day of August, 1966, as the day on which a general election
of elected members of the Legislative Council shall be held.
GIVEN under my hand and the Public Seal of the Colony of Saint Vincent
at Government House in the said Colony this twenty-first day of July
in the year of Our Lord One thousand nine hundred and sixty-six
and in the Fifteenth Year of the Reign of Her Majesty QUEEN
