ENGINEER, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT,
DOMINICA.

Applicatins are invited from suitably
qualified persons for appointment to the
post of Engineer, Public Works Depart-
ment, Dominica.
1. Appointment:
The post is on the permanent and
pensionable establishment and the ap-
pointment is subject to medical fitness
and a probationary period of two
years.
2. Salary:
The salary is in the scale $5,280 X
240-$7,440 per annum.
3. Allowances:
Travelling and subsistence allow-
ances are payable in accordance with
local regulations in respect of ap-
proved travel on duty.
4. Qualifications:
Applicant should possess a degree
or diploma in Civil Engineering from
a recognized University and/or mem-
bership of a recognized body of pro-
fessional Civil Engineers.
5. Quarters:
Quarters are not provided.
6. Duties:
The officer will be attached to the
Public Works Department for design,
preparation of estimates for, and for
supervision of construction of roads
in mountainous terrain, bridges, jet-
ties and wharves, buildings, water and
sewerage systems, sea defence and
river control works; also for prelim-
inary surveys and soil testing and any
other duties which may be assigned
to him by the Administrator from
time to time. The officer will be sub-
ject to Colonial Regulations, Finan-
cial and Store Rules and to local Gen-
eral Orders in so far as they are
applicable.
7. Leave and Leave Passages:
Vacation leave will be granted at
the rate of 36 days for each period of
twelve consecutive months resident
service, and may be accumulated up
to a maximum of 126 days. Leave
passages will be granted in accord-
ance with local regulations.


8. Passages:
Free passages to Dominica will be
provided for the officer, his wife and
children not exceeding five persons in
all, children should be under eighteen
(18) years of age, unmarried and de-
pendent on the officer.
9. Medical Attention:
Free medical attention and medi-
cines are not provided .
10. Taxation:
All Government officers are liable
to taxation imposed by local enact-
ments.

DEPARTMENTAL AND
OTHER NOTICES.

TRAINING IN BROADCASTING.

Applications are invited for the award
of Scholarships in Broadcasting under
the Canada/Commonwealth Caribbean
Assistance Programme as follows:-
(i) a one year special broadcasting
production course;
(ii) a three year diploma course in
radio and television arts.
The Scholarships are tenable at the
Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, To-
ronto, Canada, and are scheduled to
commence on 1st October, 1966.
Candidates for the one year course
must be at least 25 years of age with
three to four years of experience or
hold an "0" level General Certificate
of Education (or its equivalent) with
appropriate passes.
The mimiium requirement for entry
into the three year course is two passes
at the "A" level of the General Certi-
ficate of Education (or its equivalent)
in suitable subjects and candidates
should have some prior broadcasting ex-
perience.
The award covers cost of transporta-.
tion, tuition fee, cost of accommodation
and other charges. Candidates will be
required to enter into a bond with sure-
ties to return to serve in St. Vincent at
the end of the course of study.
Applications must be submitted on
the prescribed forms, which are obtain-
able from the Training Division of the

Ministry of Finance, and must be sup-
ported by original or photostatic
copies of diplomas or certificates.

ELECTION OP DISTRICT DELEGATES TO
REPRESENT SMALL GROWERS IN THE
ARROWROOT ASSOCIATION.

Under the Arrowroot (Amendment)
Ordinance No. 15 of 1954, notice is
hereby given that the election of a
district delegate for each of the dis-
tricts enumerated hereunder will take
place at the time and place stated:-

NORTH LEEWARD DISTRICT

On Saturday 30th July, 1966, be-
tween the hours of 10.30 a.m. and 2.00
p.m. at the Troumaca Government
School.

KINGSTOWN AND SOUTH
LEEWARD DISTRICTS

On Saturday 30th July, 1966, between
the hours of 7.30-9.00 a.m. at the
Layou Police Station and between the
hours of 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon at the
Office of the Agricultural Department,
Kingstown.

NORTH WINDWARD DISTRICT

On Friday 29th July, 1966, between
the hours of 8.30 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. at
the Georgetown Government School.

CENTRAL WINDWARD DISTRICT

On Friday 29th July, 1966, between
the hours of 3.30 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. in
Area "A" at the Park Hill Arrowroot
Factory and in Area "B" at the Biabou
Association Hall.
Area "A" includes Three Rivers,
South Rivers, Park Hill, Colonarie and
Friendly Village.
Area "B" includes North Union, New
Adelphi, New Grounds, Chapmans,
Diamond Village, Lowmans, Bridge-
town, Biabou and New Prospect.

SOUTH WINDWARD DISTRICT

On Friday 29th July, 1966, between
the hours of 3.30 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. in
Area "A" at the Mesopotamia Govern-
ment School and in Area "B" at the
Stubbs Government School.


Area "A" includes all small growers
delivering starch to the Association
from Mesopotamia, Yambou, Evesham,
Carrierre, Hopewell and Richland Park.
Area "B" includes Stubbs, Mt.
Pleasant, Calder, Argyle, Brighton,
Belvedere, Enhams, Victoria Village,
Glamorgan, Prospect, Diamond, Chop-
pins, Rathomill, Calliaqua, Glen and
(olden Vale.

SAINT GEORGE DISTRICT

On Friday 29th July, 1966, between
the hours of 3.30 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. at
the Belair Government School.

All persons whose names appear on
the list of small growers who deliver
starch from the above districts to the
Arrowroot Association during Crop
1965-66 are entitled to vote and each
person to one vote only.
