TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING OFFICER,
BARBADOS.

Applications are invited from cor-
porate members of the Town Planning
Institute or persons having some
similar professional qualification for


the above vacant post on contract for
a period of three years in the first
instance. Salary-$8,040 per annum
plus a gratuity of 20% of basic salary.
Appointment is subject to medical
fitness. Consideration is being given
to having the post made permanent
and the salary upgraded to $9,120 per
annum.
The Town and Country Planning
Officer is the head of the Town and
Country Development Planning Office
in Barbados.
Further particulars may be obtained

VACANCIES FOR JUNIOR AGRICULTURAL
INSTRUCTORS, DEPARTMENT OF
AGRICULTURE, ST. VINCENT, W.I.

Applications are invited from suitably
qualified candidates for appointment to
the post of Junior Agricultural Instruc-
tor in the Department of Agriculture.
Preference will be given to applicants
who have passed in science subjects in
the Cambridge School Certificate with
Credits or the General Certificate of
Education at advanced or ordinary
level.
2. The post is pensionable and ap-
pointment will be for a probationary
period of two years in the first instance.
3. The salary of the post is in the
scale $1,032 x $84-$1,284 x $96-
$1,572 per annum. Travelling allow-
ance is also payable in accordance with
local regulations if the officer maintains
a means of transport approved by the
Administration.
4. Quarters are not provided nor
any allowance in lieu thereof.
5. The duties of the post include
the development and general supervision
of peasant agriculture with special
reference to soil conservation, land
usage, co-operative processing and
marketing of crops, livestock develop-
ment, the administration of laws re-
lating to Agriculture and such other
duties as may be required to be per-
formed from time to time.

6. The successful candidate will be
subject to the Colonial Regulations,
General Orders and Financial and
Store Rules of St. Vincent, and to the
various ordinances and subsidiary legis-

experience and accompanied by two
recent testimonials should be addressed

COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIP AND
FELLOWSHIP PLAN
GHANA AWARD--19C6

The Government of Ghana is offering
scholarships for two year post-grad-
uate courses beginning from October,
1966.
2. Candidates must normally be
Commonwealth citizens or British
protected persons who are or, by the
time of taking up an award, will be
graduates of a University or College
in their own country, or holders of an
equivalent qualifications. Applications
will also be considered from candidates
without a degree or similar qualifica-
tion who wish to take a first degree
course of study in Ghana provided they


are normally resident in a country
where no university or college offers
courses in the subject of their choice.
3. Scholarships are open to both
men and women who will not have
reached their 35th birthday on is!
October of the year in which they take
up the award. In special circum-
stances the upper age limit may be
raised.
4. Six copies of applications on the
prescribed forms should be addressed
to the Education Officer from whom
further details may be obtained, and
should reach the Education Department
not later than 30th November, 1965.

CEYLON AWARDS, 1966.

Applications are invited from suitably
qualified persons for three Post Gradu-
ate Awards and three Under-Graduate
Awards offered by the Government of
Ceylon under the Commonwealth and
Fellowship Plan for 1966.
Applicants should be between the ages
of 17 and 35 years of age on 31st July,
1965, but in special circumstances this
age limit may be raised.
Further details may be obtained at
the Education Department.
Candidates who wish to be considered
for an award must submit one copy of
the prescribed form duly completed to-
gether with supporting documents to
the Education Officer, Education De-
partment, not later than 30th Novem-
ber, 1965.

Before applicants will be accepted as
candidates for this examination, they
must be certified by the Education
Officer as fit to take it. For such pur-
pose, the Education Officer will require
evidence. that the applicant has been
pursuing a suitable course of study.
Candidates may offer from. one to ten
subjects at the Ordinary Level, and/or
from one to five subljeets at the Ad-
vanced Level. They will be eligible for
a Certificate in respect of the subjects
in which they pass.
The fees now payable are as follows-
(i) An initial entry fee of seven
dollars and twenty cents.
(ii) An examination fee of two
dollars and forty cents per
subject at Ordinary Level,
and seven dollars and twenty
cents per subject at Advanced
Level.
(iii) A fee of four dollars per
person to cover the cost of
transportation of scripts to
London by air.
Candidates should submit to the
Local Correspondent in writing not
later than 31st January, 1966, their
full names, Birth Certificate, subjects
offered for the examination, and the
Treasury receipt for the fees stated
above.

CLASS SINGING AND SIGHT
READING COMPETITION FOR
PRIMARY SCHOOLS.

The Department of Education is
organising an island-wide Class-Singing
and Sight Reading Competition for
Primary Schools, in which thirty-two
schools are expected to participate.
Preliminary judging will begin on
October 27th and will continue to
November 3rd. Groups in which judg-
ing will take place are as follows.
A. Infants
B. Juniors
C. Seniors
D. Seniors (Sight Reading)
The music being prepared by the
schools includes Action Songs, Hymns,
Rounds. West Indian Folk. Songs,
Chni'ifal Songs and Part Songs.


Finalists will be selected from each of
five areas, and these will meet in Kings-
town on Friday 12th November at
4.30 p.m. when a panel of judges will
select the island's winners.
On this occasion too, selected music
will be performed by the combined
classes.

resolved that the Central Housing and
Planning Authority has this 30th day
of September, 1965, decided to dezone

viz-Grocery or Dry Goods Store.

pay into the Treasury the purchase price plus ten per cent thereof before the
expiration of three (3) months from the date of the sale....
