With reference to Gazette Notice
No. 399 of 6th September, 1955, infor-
mation has been received from the
Crown Agents that the Second Crown
Agent, Sir ALFRED SAVAGE, K.C.M.G.,
retired on 31st May, 1963. From 1st
June, 1963, the posts of Engineer-in-
Chief, held by Sir JAMES FARQUHARSON,
K.B.E., and that of Secretary, held by
Mr. W. G. BAWDEN, C.B.E., will be de-
signated "Assistant Crown Agent and
Engineer-in-Chief"'' and A'' assistant
Crown Agent" respectively. It is not
proposed for the present to fill the post
of Second Crown Agent.

TENDERS FOE THE RE-CAPPING OF
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
MOTOR VEHICLE TYRES.

Tenders are invited for the re-
capping of Motor Vehicle Tyres for the
use of the Public Works Department of
St. Vincent for a trial period of one
year.
2. The tyres to be re-capped will be
of the sizes 750 x 20, 750 x 16, and
600 x 16, and the charges for re-capping
each size tyre must be stated in the
Tender.
3. Tenders which will be received
up to 3 p.m. on Monday the 15th day
of July, 1963, must be sealed, and ad-
dressed to the Chairman of the Tenders
Board, Ministry of Finance, Kingstown,
and distinctly marked on the envelope,
"Tenders for re-capping of Motor Ve-
hicle tyres for the Public Works De-
partment";
4. Government does not bind itself
to accept the lowest or any tender.

RESOLUTION giving notice of a deci-
sion to prepare a Housing Scheme,
on a portion of the Orange Hill
Estate, situated in the parish of
Charlotte and to declare the por-
tion of land a Housing Area.
Section 14 of the Slum Clearance and
Housing Ordinance No. 1 of 1946.
The following RESOLUTION which
was passed at a Meeting of the Central
Housing and Planning Authority held
on the 30th day of May, 1963, is pub-
lished for general information.
RESOLUTION.
BE IT RESOLVED and it is hereby
resolved that the Central Housing and
Planning Authority have this 30th day
of May, 1963, decided to prepare a
Scheme under the provision of Section
14 of the Slum Clearance and Housing
Ordinance No. 1 of 1946 for
ALL that parcel of land lying in
the Parish of Charlotte and being a
portion of the Orange Hill Estate
measuring more or less Four Acres
one rood and thirty-two perches and
bounded on the North by The Callau
River on the South by a Track and
the Windward Highway on the East
by the Sea and on the West by the
Callau River a rocky outcrop and re-
maining lands of Orange Hill Estates
Ltd.
A Plan of the portion of Land bear-
ing No. C. 262 can be seen at the Office
of the Crown Surveyor and at the Office
of the Central Housing and Planning
Authority.

RESOLUTION.
BE IT RESOLVED and it is hereby
resolved that the Central Housing and
Planning Authority has this 30th day
of May, 1963, decided to dezone under
the provision of Section 10, of the Town
and Country Planning Ordinance No. 2
of 1946, for the purpose of a Cinema
site, THAT PARCEL of land lying in
the Parish of St. George and known as
Lot 46, and bounded on the North by
the property of Mrs. Mary Linley, on
the East by a Road, on the South by
Bay Street, and on the West by the
Property of Mr. Stephen Russell.

POLICE NOTICES.

The attention of all drivers of Motor
Vehicles and cyclists is drawn to Section
25 (7) (f) of S.R. & O. No. 35/59
which states:-
"When approaching any road junc-
tion if on the near side of the road
along which he is proceeding there is
erected a road sign bearing any of the
legends, "Stop", "Stop-Major Road
Ahead", or "Halt-Major Road
Ahead", he shall stop his vehicle before
reaching and as near as possible to, the
line painted upon the near side half of
the surface of such road and shall not
move his vehicle or cause the same to be
moved to the road junction next ahead
until he shall have satisfied himself that
it is safe to do so, and he shall then pro-
ceed slowly and give way to any traffic
which may be on such road junction."
2. It has been observed that drivers
and riders have not been paying atten-
tion to Stop signs and Halt signs. This
is a very dangerous practise and every
effort will be made to discourage such
acts.
Police have been issued with special
instructions to prosecute all persons
found offending.

NOTICE is hereby given that a new
Order in Council, the Foreign Com-
pensation (Egypt) (Final Distribu-
tion) Order 1963 (S.I. 365 of 1963) was
made on February 27th 1963 and came
into operation on March 4th, 1963. The
new Order cancels and replaces the
previous Interim Distribution Orders.
Interested persons can by appoint-
ment scrutinise the new Order at the
Registry Department.

WAGES REGULATIONS PROPOSALS

PROPOSALS ONLY-To be posted until 2nd July, 1963.

Further notice will be given if a Wages Regulation Order is made giving
effect to the proposals set out hereunder.

WAGES COUNCIL ORDER NO. 1 OF 1963

THE AGRICULTURAL WAGES COUNCIL

The Agricultural Wages Council hereby gives notice of its intention to
submit to the Administrator proposals for fixing the Statutory minimum
remuneration and holidays with pay specified in the Schedule below.
The Wages Council will consider any written representation with respect
to these proposals sent to it within 7 days from 26th day of June 1963. Any
such representation should be signed by the persons making the same (giving
his or her address) and sent to the Secretary of the Wages Council. Copies
of the proposals can also be obtained from the Secretary of the Wages Council.
It is desirable that persons making objections should state the precise
grounds of their objections.

SCHEDULE

MINIMUM REMUNERATION FOR TIME WORK
1. The Minimum remuneration to be paid to workers to whom this Order
applies, employed on time-work, shall be as follows:
Men ...... $1.68 per day for a day of 8 hours
Women ...... $1.35 per day for a day of 8 hours

MINIMUM REMUNERATION FOR OVERTIME
2. Whenever a worker to whom this Order applies, employed on Time-
work, works with the consent of his employer for more than eight hours on
any ordinary day shall be paid (except as is hereinafter provided) for every
hour or part thereof time and a half and for all work done on Sundays and
Public Holidays double time: Provided that this does not apply to stockmen,
grooms and workers employed on the shift system but whose total earnings
must not be less than the daily minimum wage when such earnings are divided
by the number of days worked in the period whether paid on a weekly, fort-
nightly or monthly basis.

MINIMUM REMUNERATION TO WATCHMEN
3. Watchmen employed under this Order shall not receive less than the
daily minimum wage when such earnings are divided by the number of hours
actually worked in the period whether paid on a weekly, fortnightly or
monthly basis.
MINIMUM REMUNERATION FOR PIECE-WORK AND TASK-WORK
4. The minimum remuneration to be paid to workers, to whom this Order
applies, when employed on piece-work, or task-work shall be as follows:-
Digging arrowroot: 41 cents per basket measuring 28" in diameter
and filled to a height of 14"
Digging peanuts: 28 cents per kerosene tin filled to the height of
the tin
Picking Cotton: 31/2 cents per lb. (No deduction for moisture).

Provided that where a worker is employed on any piece-work or task-
work the employer shall be deemed to pay wages at less than the minimum
wage unless he shows that the rate for a period of 8 hours was not less than
the minimum wage for a day.
HOLIDAYS WITH PAY
5. Every worker to whom this Order applies shall be entitled to holidays
with pay as follows:-
(1) 7 days holidays with pay for 201 days and over
(2) 6 ,, ,, ,, ,, 176-200 days worked
