CUSTOMS WAREHOUSE, KINGSTOWN.

Tenders are invited for the rewiring
of the Customs Warehouse, Kingstown
in accordance with drawings and speci-
fications therefore which may be perused
at the Public Works Department be-
tween the hours 10.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.
Monday to Friday and on Saturday
from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon.
Tenders must be accompanied by
detailed estimates for materials, labour,
transportation, etc.
Plans and specifications may be ob-
tained from the Superintendent of
Public Works upon application and
payment of a fee of $10.00.
Tenders which will be received up to
3.00 p.m. on Friday 17th May, 1963
must be sealed and addressed to the
Chairman, Public Tenders Committee,
Ministry of Finance, Kingstown and
marked on the envelope "Tenders for
Rewiring of Customs Warehouse."
Government does not bind itself to
accept the lowest or any tender.

EDUCATION NOTICES.

EVENING CLASSES for Term II,
1963 will start on Monday, 13th May.
Tuition will be offered in the follow-
ing subjects:


English Language, English Litera-
ture, Mathematics, Geography, His-
tory, Health Science, Religious
Knowledge and French.
Prospective candidates are asked to
register at the Education Department
before Monday, 13th May and fees must
be paid by 31st May, 1963.

COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIP
AND FELLOWSHIP PLAN.

COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIPS IN THE
FEDERATION OF RHODESIA AND
NYASALAND.

Under the Commonwealth Scholar-
ship and Fellowship Plan, the Federal
Government is offering Scholarships to
men and women students from other
parts of the Commonwealth. These
scholarships will be for post-graduate
study and will be tenable at the Uni-
versity College of Rhodesia and Nyasa-
land (which is in special relationship
with the University of London) from
the beginning of the academic year in
March, 1964.
Scholarships will in general be ten-
able for a programme of study of re-
search normally extending over a period
of two academic years and leading to a
university degree or similar qualifica-
tion. In exceptional cases an extension
may be granted for a third year.
The information given refers to
scholarships only and does not concern
fellowships which will form the subject
of a separate publication.
Emoluments.
The emoluments are intended to
cover expenses of travel, living and
study during tenure of the scholarship,
and will consist of:
a) Fares (normally at tourist-class
rates, by sea or air) to the Fed-
eration and return on expiry of
the scholarship;
(b) Fees-an amount sufficient to
cover approved tuition and ex-
amination fees;
(c) Personal maintenance allowance
at the rate of 780 per annum;
(d) A grant of 25 for books and
apparatus;

(e) A grant of up to 100 for ap-
proved travel within the Feder-
ation ;
(f) An allowance of 25 for excess
baggage if travelling b3 air, the
excess baggage to be restricted to
specialist equipment;
(g) An allowance to cover approved
medical and hospital insurance
payments.
These emoluments are not taxable in
the Federation.
Eligibility.
Candidates must normally be Com-
monwealth citizens or British protected
persons resident in countries of the
Commonwealth other than the Federa-
tion of Rhodesia and Nyasaland, who
are or, by the lime of taking up an
award in 1964 will, be, graduates of a
university or cllege.in their country,
or holders of an equivalent qualifica-
tion. .Applications will npt be-: cnsid-
ered unless they are made through the
appropriate agency in the country of a
candidate's normal residence.
Age Limits.
Candidates should, in general, be
less than 28 years of age on 1st March,
1964 but in special circumstances this
age limit may be raised.
General Conditions of Award.
(a) The scholar will be expected to
return to his own country at the
end of the scholarship.
(b) The scholar may not, without re-
ceiving special. permission, take
paid; employment during the
tenure of. his scholarship or
serve on the staff of his. country's
official.. representative in the
Federation.


(c) The scholar must follow the ap-
proved course of study and abide
by the rules of the University
College of Rhodesia and Nyasa-
land.
(d) Candidates for scholarships must
have a good knowledge of writ-
ten and spoken English.
(e) An award may be terminated at
any time for. reasons of unsatis-
factory conduct, for breaches of
the conditions of award, or for
failure to make satisfactory pro-
gress.
(f) Candidates are required ;to sub-
mit on a special form with their
application a medical certificate
regarding their state of health.

General Information.
Further information about the Uni-
versity-College of Rhodesia and Nyasa-
land and-,the courses available may be
obtained either from the Principal, P.B,
167H, Salisbury,, Rhodesia and Nyasa-
land, or from the Commonwealth Uni-
versities Year Book (A.U.B.C., ed. J. F.
Foster, published annually).

Applications.
Candidates must submit seven copies
of the prescribed application form for
a Rhodesia and Nyasaland award to-
gether with six copies of all supporting
documents except the birth certificate,
where one'only is required, to the Edu-
cation Officer, Department of Educa-
tion, St. Vincent, not later than 29th
June, 1963.

MARKETING BOARD (REGISTRATION OF POTATO
(AMENDMENT) RULES.

(Gazetted 7th May, 1963).

1. Short Title. These Rules may be cited as the Marketing Board
(Registration of Potato Growers) (Amendment) Rules, 1963, and shall be
read as one with the Marketing Board (Registration of Potato Growers)
Rules, 1961, (S.R. & 0. 1961, No. 14) hereinafter referred to as the principal
Rules.

2. Rule 4 of principal Rules amended. Rule 4 of the principal Rules
is hereby amended by substituting the figure "30" for the figure "60" appearing
in the fourth line thereof.
3. Schedule to principal Rules amended. The Schedule to the principal
Rules is hereby amended by substituting the figure and words "30 days" for
the figure and words "60 days" appearing in the first line of Form II appear-
ing therein.

Made by the Marketing Board under Section 21 of the Marketing Board
Ordinance, 1959 (No. 4 of 1959) this 1st day of April, 1963.
