threatening or approaching the Island, the following warnings will be given:-

announcements.
(3). Three, saluting guns will be
fired.

DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND.

WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
1946 (No. 22 of 1946) that if the Administrator in Council considers that any
land should be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to
that effect to be made:

undermentioned parcel of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit,
the improvement of the Windward highway:

Now IT Is ITE"E:3Y DECLARED by His Honour the Administrator acting in
accordance with the advice of the Executive Council of the Colony of Saint
Vincent that upon the Second Publication of this Declaration in the Gazette all
that parcel of land at Prospect in the Parish of St. George the property of
Lilian R. Trotman alias Mrs. F. A. Trotman measuring 2,875 square feet in
area and bounded on the North by the remaining lands of the said Lilian R.
Trotman on the South, East and West by the Windward Highway shall vest
absolutely in the Crown.

AND IT Is HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED AND NOTIFIED that a plan bearing
the Number G3/57 showing the above mentioned parcel of land has been
prepared by L. W. Sandy Licensed Land Surveyor and lodged on the 6th day
of December 1958 at the Lands and Surveys Department of Kingstown in the
said Colony and can be inspected at all reasonable hours at the said Depart-
ment.

1946 (No. 22 of 1946) that if the Administrator in Council considers that any
land should be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to
that effect to be made:

undermentioned parcel of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit,
the provision of a drain to lead water from a Public Road:

Now IT Is HEREBY DECLARED by His Honour the Administrator acting in
accordance with the advice of the Executive Council of the Colony of Saint
Vincent that upon the Second Publication of this Declaration in the Gazette all
that parcel of land at Hermitage in the Parish of St. Patrick the property of
Heirs of Robert Huggins (Clarence Huggins et al) measuring 8,256 square
feet in area and bounded on the North and South by the remaining lands of
the said Heirs of Robert Huggins on the East by lands of Bartler James on the
West by lands of W. Stewart shall vest absolutely in the Crown.

AND IT Is HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED AND NOTIFIED that a plan bearing
the Number P1/55 showing the above mentioned parcel of land has been pre-
pared by L. W. Sandy Licensed Land Surveyor and lodged on the 5th day of
August 1959 at the Lands and Surveys Department of Kingstown in the said
Colony and can be inspected at all reasoiiable hour.; at the -;aid Department.

1946 (No. 22 of 1946) that if the Administrator in Council considers that any
land should be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to

undermentioned parcel of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit,
the improvement of the Francois Public Road:

Now IT Is HEREBY DECLARED by His Honour the Administrator acting in

Vincent that upon the Second Publication of this Declaration in the Gazette all
that parcel of land at Retreat in the Parish of St. Andrew the property of
Walter Bushay measuring 5,992 square feet in area and bounded on the North
by the Francois Public Road, on the South, East and West by the remaining
lands of the said Walter Bushay shall vest absolutely in the Crown.

AND IT Is HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED AND NOTIFIED that a plan bearing
the Number A2/1 showing the above mentioned parcel of land has been pre-
pared by C. E. Williams Licensed Land Surveyor and lodged on the 1st day of
July 1959 at the Lands and Surveys Department of Kingstown in the said
Colony and can be inspected at all reasonable hours at the said Department.

ROYAL SOCIETY OF BRITISH
SCULPTORS

THE SIR OTTO BEIT MEDAL FOR
SCULPTURE

The Royal Society of British Sculp-
tors wish to bring to the attention of
sculptors working in the British Isles
and Commonwealth the following in-
formation.
From the fund provided by Sir Otto
Beit for the provision of the "Annual
best work of the year Medal" which

may be awarded only to works ex-1
hibited to the publi' in London, the
Council have been authorised to award
a second medal to br known as the "Sir
Otto B2it medal for Sculpture" for
works exhibited to the public elsewhere
in the British Isles and Commonwealth.
sculptors who are Briti!h subjects are
eligible for this award.
Nominations for this award giving
particulars of the sculptor, together
with photographs, details and dimen-
sions of the work concerned, should be
sent to the Secretary, Royal Society
of British Sculptors, 6 Queen Square,
London, W.C.1.
Photographs etc. should reach the
office not later than October 25th.
Thli decision of the Council is final.


RULES

1. The sculptor must be a citizen of
the British Commonwealth.
2. The method of entry shall be by
photographs only and in no case may
the work itself be submitted. An ac-
companying letter must give full
details of the work and every photo-
graph submitted must bear the name
and address of the sculptor and the
material, dimensions and date of first
exhibition of the work.
3. The sculpture must have been
first publicly exhibited any time be-
tween the first day of November of the
year previous to the named year of
entry and the twenty-fifth day of
Octob-r of the year of entry, in any
pait of the Commonwealth outside
London (the ;administrative county of
London). (To be interpreted as
having been hlown in an exhibition
open to the public or placed on or in
a buIilding to .i-lh ':e public is ad-
mt it ed.
4. ip to three works by a sculptor
may be entered if they conform to the
rules in other ways.
5. A work can be entered by the
sculptor himself or by any other person
or group of persons, provided the con-
sent of the sculptor has first been ob-
tained.
6. In the case of sculptors not mem-
bers of the Royal Society of British
Sculptors and where the entry is made
by the sculptor himself, it should be
accompanied by a letter from a respon-
sible person declaring that, to the best
of his information, the entry conforms
with these rules.
7. Works must be in a reasonably
durable material, at least cast in
plaster of Paris.


8. The Council of the Royal Society
of British Sculptors does not bind
itself to award the medal in any one
year if. in its opinion, no entry reaches
a sufficiently high standard, but the
Council will not unreasonably withhold
the award.
9. The decision of the Council in all
matters is final.

RESOLUJTION giving notice of a deci-
sion to prepare a Housing Scheme,
for the extension of the Mt. Ben-
tinck Slum Clearance Scheme, on a
portion of the Mt. Bentinck
Estates situated in the Parish of
Charlotte and to declare the por-
tion of land a Housing Area.
Section 11 of the Slum Clearance and
Housing Ordinance No. 1 of 1946.
The following RESOLUTION which
was passed at a meeting of the Central
Housing and Planning Authority held
on the 2nd day of August 1962, is pub-
lished for general information.

RESOLUTION
BE IT RESOLVED and it is hereby
resolved that the Central Housing and
Planning Authority have the 2nd day
of August 1962, decided to prepare an
Extension Scheme under the provision
of Section 14 of the Slum Clearance and
Housing Ordinance No. 1 of 1946 for
ALL that parcel of land lying in the
Parish of Charlotte and being a por-
tion of the Mt. Bentinek Estates
measuring more or less 8 acres and
bounded on the North by the Mt.
Bentinck Slum Clearance Scheme
allotments known as "Basin Hole",
on the East by the Windward High-
way on the South and West by lands
of the Mount Bentinck Estate Ltd.
This portion of land referred to, can
be seen on a Plan C.177 at the Office
of the Central Housing and Planning
Authority.

BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE LAND AND
HOUSE TAX ORDINANCE, CHAPTER 194 OF
THE LAWS OF SAINT VINCENT.

The Magistrates of the First, Second
and'Third Districts will hold Special
Sessions for the purpose of hearing ob-
jections to and appeals from the assess-
ments made by the Tax Officers of St.
George's:Parish (District 1); Charlotte
Parish (District 2); St. Andrew's
Parish (District 3); St. Patrick's Par-
ish (District 4); -St. David's Parish
(District 5); and the Grenadines (Dis-
trict 6) as relate to the property in the
First, Second and Third Magisterial
Districts.
The Sessions will be held at the fol-
lowing places at 10.00 a.m.
'District 1, at the Police Station at
Calliaqua on Tuesday the 11th day
of September, 1962, and at the
Court House Kingstown on Wed-
nesday 12th September 1962.
District 2, at the Police Station at
Georgetown on Monday 17th day of
September 1962.

BRITISH NATIONALITY (FEES) (AMENDMENT)
REGULATIONS.

(Gazetted 14th August, 19(i2).

1. Short title. These Regulations may be cited as the British Nationality
(Fees) (Amendment) Regulations. 1962, and shall be read as one with the
British Nationality (Fees) Regulations, 1952, (S.R. & 0. 1952, No. 1) (herein-
after referred to as the principal Regulations) and all amendments thereto.

2. Amendment of Regulation 2 of the principal Regulations. Regula-
tion 2 of the principal Regulations is hereby amended by the insertion of the
following words "(if the applicant is a British protected person) and fourteen
dollars and forty cents (if the applicant is an alien)" after the words "nine
dollars and sixty cents" appearing in paragraph 2 thereof.
3. Replacement of Schedule to principal Regulations. For the Schedule
to the principal Regulations there shall be substituted the Schedule set out in
the Schedule to these Regulations.

BRITISH NATIONALITY (FEES) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS
1962.

Explanatory Note.


It is the usual practice to charge fees closely corresponding to those
charged in the United Kingdom.

The British Nationality Regulations, 1962, increases the fees for the
purposes of the British Nationality Act, 1948.

The fee for the registration as a citizen of the United Kingdum and
Colonies if a woman who is a British protected person or an alien, and has
married a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies is increased from
$4.80 to $7.20.

The fee for the registration as a citizen of the United Kingdom and
Colonies of a minor who is a British protected person or an alien is increased
(a) if the application for the minor's registration was made at the same time
as an application by one of his parents for a certificate of naturalisation
from $2.40 to $7.20 (b) in other cases, from $24.00 to $28.80, if the minor is a
British protected person and from $48.00 to $60.00 if the minor is an alien.

The fee for the grant of a certificate of naturalisation to a British pro-
tected person is increased from $48.00 to $60.00, and that for the grant of a
certificate to an alien from $96.00 to $120.00. In the case of an application
by an alien the amount of that fee which is to be paid at the time of the
application is increased from $9.60 to $14.40.
