VACANT POST OF ASSISTANT DRAUGHTS-
MAN, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT,
KINCsTOWN, ST. VINCENT, W.I.

Applications are invited for the
vacant post of Assistant Draughtsman,
P.W.D. which carries salary in the
scale ($1,032X84-1,284X96-$1,572.)
Point of entry in the scale will depend
on the qualifications and experience of
the applicant.
Applicants should hold the Cambridge
School Certificate or its equivalent and
should be between the ages of eighteen
and thirty years. They should be
capable of preparing working drawings
from sketches and will be subject to a
test by the Superintendent of Works
before their applications are forwarded
for consideration by the Public Service
Commission.
Applications stating qualifications
and accompanied by Certificates and
testimonials should reach the Superin-
tendent of Works, Public Works De-
partment, Kingstown, St. Vincent, not
later than 17th June, 1961.

P.3t of Water Works Mechanic, Public
Works Department.

Applications are invited for the va-
cant post of Water Works Mechanic,
P.W.D., which carries a salary scale of
$2,052 x $96-$2,148/$2,292 x $144-
$2,580. Point of entry in the scale will
depend on the qualifications and expe-
rience of the applicant. The post is at
present non-pensionable, but steps will
be taken in due course to declare it pen-
sionable.
Applicants should have a sound ele-
mentary education, and not less than
six years practical experience in plumb-
ing and pipefitting. A working know-
ledge of steel pipes lined with bitumas-
tic in and out and with Johnson cou-
plings, and of air valves, main water
lin. and screw pipes 3" to 6/2" is a
necessity. Preference will be given to
applicants possessing a Diploma or
Certificate in this line of work from a
recognized University or Training
School.

will be to assist the Engineering Assis-
tant (Works) in the improvement and
maintenance of the Island's Water
System.

MONTSERRAT

PARTICULARS OF POST OF AGRICUL-
TURAL DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER.

1. Dutties of Post. Responsible for
both the maintenance and repair of all
mechanical equipment including a
marine engine in the fishing vessel used
in connection with the fisheries scheme.
There is a proposed scheme for assisting
fishermen to buy motors for their boats
and the officer will be required to super-
vise the installation and maintenance of
any of these motors, the purchase of
which may have been financed from Gov-
ernment loan.
2. Qualifications. (i) at least 3
years experience in the handling and
maintenance of all types of farm equip-
ment and more particularly heavy trac-
tors.
(ii) Preference will be given to
candidates who possess in addition a
B.Sc. Degree in Agricultural Engineer-
ing or equivalent qualification.
3. Salary. $8,400 p.a.
4. Transport Allowance...$600 p.a.
5. Contract. 3 years (plus 4 months
leave)
plus 121/2% gratuity on satisfac-
tory completion of contract.
6. Accommodation. Not provided
(but a furnished house belonging to an
officer of the Department of Agriculture
who will be on overseas leave for ap-
proximately 8 months from June might
be available for rent).
7. Passages. On first appointment
passages of the officer, wife and three
children under the age of 18 years and
dependent on the officer, totalling five
passages will be paid to Montserrat and
return to the place of recruitment on the
satisfactory completion of the contract.
8. Leave. In accordance with local
leave regulations approximately 42
days per annum.
9. Income Tax. In accordance with
local legislation.

House, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, to reach
him not later than 30th June, 1961.

POST OF SENIOR MECHANIC, PUBLIC
WORKS DEPARTMENT, ST. VINCENT.

Applications are invited for the
vacant post of Senior Mechanic, Public
Works Department, which carries salary
in the scale $2,292 X 144-$3,300.
Point of entry will depend on the quali-
fications and experience of the appli-
cant. The post is at present non-
pensionable, but steps will be taken in
due course to declare it pensionable.
Applicants must have a sound elemen-
tary education and at least ten years
practical experience in a recognized
garage or general repair shop with
knowledge of the maintenance of
modern Diesel engines and heavy equip-
ment. A Diploma or Certificate from
a recognized training school will be an
advantage.
Duties will include the overhaul and
maintenance of various Public Works
Department equipment, including light
and heavy trucks, Land Rovers, Motor
Rollers, Stone Crushers, Concrete
Mixers etc., etc.
Applications, which should be accom-
panied by certified copies of Certificates
and testimonials should be addressed to
the Chief Secretary, Government Office,
to reach him not later than 30th June,
1961.

limited number of private cars to park
in the P.W.D. yard, Kingstown, and
parking lanes have been provided ac-
cordingly. Parking will be allowed in
the lanes only, as other spaces will be
reserved for the cars of P.W.D. Offi-
cers and for P.W.D. vehicles. Trucks
and Hired Cars will not be allowed to
park in the Compound.
No-parking areas will also be de-
fined, and parking therein is strictly
prohibited.
