IN THE MATTER OF.THE 'LAND ACQUISITION' ORDn;ANCE 1946.
(No. 22 of 1946)
NOTIFICATION OF PRELIMINARY SURVEY
(Under Section 4 of the Ordinance)
WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Ordliiance (No.
22 of 1946) that if the Governor in Council considers that any land may be
required for a public purpose and it is necessary to make a preliminary survey
or other investigation of the land, lie may cause a notification to that effect to
be published in the Gazette:
AND WHEREAS the Governor-in-Council considers that a portion of land
approximately one acre in extent at Owia in the Parish of Charlotte being
the property of Hilda S. Abbott is likely to be acquired for a public purpose,
to wit, erection of a school. ..
AND WHEREAS it is necessary to make a preliminary survey and other in-
vestigation of the said portion of land.
Now THEREFORE, this is to require all persons intereitled to allow Mr. Henry
Neblett the Authorised Officer (and his agents, assistants and workmen) to
do all or any of the following things, that is to say:-
(a) to enter upon and survey and take levels of the said portion of
land in the above mentioned locality;
(b) to set out the boundaries of the land intended to be acquired;
(c) to mark levels and lines by placing marks mad cuttings trenches;
(d) where otherwise tli, survey cannot le completed or the bound-
aries set out or levels taken, to cut downv and clear away any
standing crop, fence, tree or bush;
(e) to do all such other acts as may be incidental to or necessary for
any of the purpose aforesaid.

SCHOLARSHIP FOR GRADUATE
STUDY.

A graduate scholarship of $500 for
work to the degree of Master of Arts
or Master of Science, open to residents
of the West Indies and British Guiana,
has been established for 1961-62. The
Scholarship is renewable for one year,
provided that the holder is successful
in course during the first year, and
requires the second year to complete a
degree programme.
Candidates must be able to meet the
admission requirements of the School
of Graduate Studies. They must have
a bachelor's degree with at least second
class standing. Those with pass degreP.p
will normally require the equivalent of
two years' full-time study, while those
with honours degrees will normally re-
quire the equivalent of one year's full-
time study.

ed the offer of a two year Scholarship by
the Federal Republic of Germany to
students in the West Indies for the Uni-
versity Year 1961/62.
