Eradicate Yaws

Lowmans area, during the last few
months. Treatment of active cases and
of their contacts in the home and at
school has not succeeded in stamping
out the disease in these districts, and it
is now intended, under the supervision
of Dr. Gentle, W.H.O. Yaws Expert, to
make a concerted effort to treat the en-
tire population in this area, men, women
and children, during the next two or
three weeks in a final attempt to eradi-
cate it once and for all.
Everyone is asked to co-operate in this
task, which is for the benefit of all. Even
ni you think you nave not got yaws now,
the single injection will protect you tem-
porarily against infection, and will be of
great value in the cure of other infec-
tions, septic conditions, gonorrhoea, etc.
Public Health teams will be visiting
schools and making house to house visits
starting Thursday March 16. Please give
every possible help and stay at home to
receive your injection, and make sure
every member of your household does
the same.
It is very important in a yaws district
to wash frequently with soap and water
and cover up all cuts and sores with a
clean dressing. Please see that your
children do these things.
If you all cooperate now, and observe
a few simple precautions in the future,
we may be able to stamp out this nuis-
ance for good.

A. D. LOW,
There have been severe outbreaks of Senior Medical Owcer.
yaws among school children in the Colo- Medical Department,
narie-South Rivers, Park Hill-Blabou- St. Vincent.
