NOTICe OF ACQUISITION.

WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
1946 (No. 22 of 1946)'that if the Governor in Council considers that any land
should be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to that
effect to be made.
AND WHEREAS it was considered by the Governor in Council that the under-
mentioned parcel of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit, the
construction of the Arnos Vale Feeder Road.
AND WHEREAS by declaration published in the Gazette on the 29th day of
March and the 4th day of April 1960 it was declared that the said parcel of
land at Arnos Vale in the Parish of St. George the property of the Executors
of the Estate of F. A. Casson measuring 54,316 square feet in area and bounded
on the north by lands of H. Williams, C. Yearwood, C. Coombs, C. Stephens,
A. Williams, S. Phills, W. Tyrell, J. Tyrell and Crown lands, on the south by
Crown lands, on the west by a public road was required for a public purpose
and should vest absolutely in the Crown upon the Second Publication of the
said Declaration to that effect in the Gazette:
AND WHEREAS it was further declared and notified that a plan of the said
land bearing the number G455 and prepared by H. Neblett Licensed Land
Surveyor was lodged for inspection at all reasonable hours at the Lands and
Surveys Department of Kingstown in the Colony of St. Vincent on the 16th
day of October 1959.
Now Tins is to require all persons interested to render to the Authorised
Officer at the said Lands and Surveys Department as soon as possible after
issue of this notice a statement in writing signed by them or their Attorneys
or Agents setting forth the amounts and full particulars of their claim for
compensation in respect of their interest in the land here-in-before described
distinguishing the amounts under separate heads and showing how the amount
claimed under each head is calculated.

NOTICE OF ACQUISITION.

WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
1946 (No. 22 of 1946) that if the Governor in Council considers that any land
should be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to that
effect to be made.
AND WHEREAS it was considered by the Governor in Council that the under-
mentioned parcels of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit, the
extension of Sandy Bay Village.
AND WHEREAS by declaration published in the Gazette on the 28th day
of June and the 5th day of July 1960 it was declared that the said parcels of
land at Orange Hill in the Parish of Charlotte the property of Messrs. Orange
Hill Estates Ltd. as set out in the schedule hereto was required for a public
purpose and should vest absolutely in the Crown upon the Second Publication
of the said Declaration to that effect in the Gazette:
AND WHEREAS it was further declared and notified that a plan of the said
land bearing the number C259 and prepared by G. E. Daislcy Licensed Land
Surveyor was lodged for inspection at all reasonable hours at the Lands and
Surveys Department of Kingstown in the Colony of St. Vincent on the 25th
day of May 1960.

NOTICE OF ACQUISITION.

WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance 1946
(No. 22 of 1946) that if the Administrator in Council considers that any land
should be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to that
effect to be made.
AND WHEREAS it was considered by the Administrator in Council that the
undermentioned parcels of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit,
Housing Rehabilitation.
AND WHEREAS by declaration published in the Gazette on the 9th and 16th
days of February 1960 it was declared that the said parcels of land at Colonarie
in the Parish of Charlotte the property of A. B. C. DOSSANTOS as set out in the
Schedule hereto was required for a public purpose and should vest absolutely
in the Crown upon the Second Publication of the said Declaration to that effect
in the Gazette:
AND WHEREAS it was further declared and notified that a plan of the said
land bearing the number C3/53 and prepared by H. Neblett Licensed Land

the Revised Laws of St. Vincent 1926
Edition.

All persons, being Managers, Direc-
tors and/or Secretaries concerned with
the management of Companies Regis-
tered under the Companies Act Cap.
219 of the Revised Laws for the Colony
of St. Vincent are hereby REMINDED
that failure to comply with sections 24
and 37 of the said Companies Act ren-
ders any such delinquent Company and
its Director Manager and/or Secretary
liable to a penalty of five pounds
($24.00) for EVERY .DAY during
which such default continues.
Companies and Persons defaulting as
above are hereby warned that if such
default continues on or after the 30th
September, 1960 the full penalty for
breach of the Law will be exacted.

MAINTENANCE OFFICER (ELECTRICAL
INSTALLATIONS).

Applications are invited for the post
of Maintenance Officer (Electrical In-
stallations), Public Works Department.
The post is pensionable and in the salary
scale $1,324.80 x $86.40-$2,016. A
minimum of five years experience in a
responsible position is required. Trans-
port Allowance is not payable but trans-
port is supplied for official duty, and the
question of paying a Transport Allow-
ance is being reviewed. Further infor-
mation is available from the Superin-
tendent of Public Works, Kingstown.

EDUCATION NOTICES.
A competitive examination for the
award of scholarships for boys and girls
tenable at the Grammar School and the
Girls' High School will be held at the
Richmond Hill Government School on
Friday, 7th October, 1960, beginning at
9.00 a.m.
2. The Scholarships are open to pu-
pils attending Government or Assisted
Primary Schools or Private Schools
which satisfy the requirements of the
Board of Education, and entitle the
holders to free tuition, games and libra-
ry fees and.the necessary school books
and stationery. All scholarship holders,
who during the tenure of a scholarship
normally reside not less than two miles
from the limits of Kingstown measured
by the shortest public highway, shall be
entitled to receive a maintenance grant
at the rate of one hundred and ninety-
two dollars per annum: Provided that
should a scholarship holder cease so to
reside, for any period during the tenure
of the scholarship, no maintenance
grant shall be paid in respect of such
period, unless such scholarship holder
is living away from home for the pur-
pose of taking advantage of the scholar-
ship.
3. Candidates must (a) have been
less than 12 years of age on the 15th
September, 1960. Age must be proved
by a birth or baptismal certificate.
(b) have attended a Government
or Assisted Primary School or Private
School which satisfies the requirements
of the Board of Education, during the
twelve months preceding the 15th Sep-
tember, 1960, for not less than 75% of
the maximum attendances possible dur-
-ing such period, as shown in the attend-
ance Register kept in the school.
(c) furnish certificates ,of good
conduct from the Head Teacher or
Head Teachers of such School or
Schools.
(d) be natives of the Colony, or
children of natives or have been resident
in the Colony for at least two years.
4. The Education Officer is empow-
ered to accept for examination any can-
didate who, through illness has failed
to comply with the requirements of
paragraph 3 (b) above, with respect to ]
the number of attendances.


5. No Scholarship shall be awarded
to any candidate who obtains less than
one-third of the possible marks in each
subject and less than one-half of the
total possible marks in the examination.
6. Scholarships are awarded for a
period of not more than six years pro-
vided the scholar's attendance, conduct
and progress as shown by the term re-
ports are considered satisfactory.
7. Candidates will be examined in
English, including Reading and Arith-
metic, and shall be given an Intelligence
Test.
8. Applications accompanied by pro-
per proof of age must reach the Educa-
tion Office not later than Saturday, 10th
September, 1960.

KINGSTOWN BOARD.

A competitive examination for the

third of the maximum number of marks
in each subject and less than one half
of the total marks in the examination.
4. Candidates will be examined in
English, including Reading, Arithmetic,
and will be given an Intelligence Test.
5. The Scholarships are awarded for
a period of five years, provided the
Scholar's attendance, conduct and pro-
gress as shown by the term reports are
considered satisfactory.
6. Applications, accompanied by

It is hereby notified for general information that a new shipment of veget-
able seeds has arrived and will be on sale at the Office of the Department of
Agriculture on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between the hours
of 9 a.m. and 12 noon and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.; and on Wednesdays and
Saturday between the hours of 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

NOTICE.

,BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE LAND AND. HOUSE TAX ORDINANCE,
';"*CHAPTER 194 OF THE LAWS OF SAINT VINCENT-1926.

The Magistrates of the First, Second and Third Districts will hold Special
Sessions for the purpose of hearing objections to, and appeals from the assess-
ments made by the Tax Officers of St. George's Parish, District 1; Charlotte's
Parish, District 2, St. Andrew's Parish, District 3, St. Patrick's Parish, District 4,
St. David's Parish, District 5, and the Grenadines, District 6; as relate to
property in the First, Second and Third Magisterial Districts.
The sessions will be held at the following places at 10.00 o'clock in the
forenoon.
District 1, at the Court House Calliaqua, on Tuesday the 13th day of
September, 1960; and-at-the Court-House; Kingstown, on Wednesday
the 14th day of September, 1960.
District 2, at the Court House, Georgetown, on Friday the 9th day of
September, 1960.
District 3, at the Court House, Layou, on Thursday the 15th day. of
September, 1960.
District 4, at the Court House, Barrouallie, on Monday the 12th day of
September, 1960.
District 5, at the Court House, Chateaubelair, on Monday the 26th day of
September, 1960.
District 6, at the Court House, Port Elizabeth, on Friday the 2nd day of
September, 1960; and at the Court House, Clifton, Union Island, on
Tuesday the 30th day of September, 1960.
Notice of intention to object to any assessment must be given not later than
ten (10) ddys prior to the day fixed for the holding of the Session at which the
objection is to be heard.
