DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND.

WHEREAS it is enacted by Section '3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
1946 (No. 22 of 1946) that if the Governor in Council considers that any land
should be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to that
effect to be made.
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Governor in Council that the under-
mentioned parcel of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit,
road improvement.
Now IT Is HEREBY DECLARED by His Honour the Administrator acting in ac-
cordance with the advice of the Executive Council of the Colony of Saint Vincent
that upon the second Publication of this Declaration in the Gazette all
that parcel of land at Rose Hall in the Parish of St. David the property of
Adina Williams measuring 468 square feet in area and bounded on the north,
eat and west by a road and on the south by remaining lands of Adina Williams
shall vest absolutely in the Crown.
AND IT Is HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED AND NOTIFIED that a plan bearing
the number D2/12 showing the above mentioned parcel of land has been pre-
pared by L. W. Sandy Licensed Land Surveyor and lodged on the 19th day of
October 1959 at the Lands and Surveys Department of Kingstown in the said
Colony and can be inspected at all reasonable hours at the said Department.

purpose.

DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND.

(SECOND PUBLICATION.)

WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
1946: (No. 22 of 1946) that if the Governor in Council considers that any land
should be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to that
effect to be made.
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Governor in Council that the under-
meintiolllid parcels of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit,
impi-tement of Westwood road.
Now IT Is HEREBY DECLARED by His Honour the Administrator acting in ac-
cordance with the advice of the Executive Council of the Colony of Saint Vincent
that:. ~pon the second Publication of this Declaration in the Gazette all
those: parcels of land at Westwood in the Parish of St. David the property of
.the% respective persons set out in the schedule hereto shall vest absolutely in

1946 (No. 22 of 1946) that if the Governor in Council considers that any land
should be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to that
effect to be made.
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Governor in Council that the under-
mentioned parcel of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit,
improvement of Leeward Highway.
Now IT Is HEREBY DECLARED by His Honour the Administrator acting in ac-
cordance with the advice of the Executive Council of the Colony of Saint Vincent
that upon the second Publication of this Declaration in the Gazette all
that parcel of land at Chateaubelair in the Parish of St. David the property
of Justeombe Adams measuring 218 square feet in area and bounded on the
north, east and south by a road and on the west by remaining lands of Justcombe
Adams shall vest absolutely in the Crown.
AND IT Is HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED AND NOTIFIED that a plan bearing
the Number D2/14 showing the above mentioned parcel of land has been pre-
pared by H. Neblett Licensed Land Surveyor and lodged on the 27th day of
January 1960 at the Lands and Surveys Department of Kingstown in the said
Colony and can be inspected at all reasonable hours at the said Department.

DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND.

WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
1946 (No. 22 of 1946) that if the Governor in Council considers that any land
should be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to that
effect to be made.
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Governor in Council that the under-
mentioned parcel of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit,
an eight foot right-of-way.
Now IT Is HEREBY DECLARED by His Honour the Administrator acting in ac-
cordance with the advice of the Executive Council of the Colony of Saint Vincent
that upon the second Publication of this Declaration in the Gazette all
that parcel of land at Grove in the Parish of St. Patrick the property of Gladys
Roberts measuring 903 square feet in area and bounded on the north by a road
on the east and west by remaining lands of Gladys Roberts on the south by
Cumberland river reserve shall vest absolutely in the Crown.
AND IT Is HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED AND NOTIFIED that a plan bearing
the Number P1/57 showing the above mentioned parcel of land has been pre-
pared by C. E. R. Williams Licensed Land Surveyor and lodged on the 26th

NOTICE OF ACQUISITION.

WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
1946 (No. 22 of 1946) that if the Governor in Council considers that any land
should be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to that
effect to be made.
AND WHEREAS it was considered by the Governor in Council that the under-
mentioned parcel of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit, the
construction of the Arnos Vale Feeder Road.
AND WHEREAS by declaration published in the Gazette on the 29th day of
March and the 4th day of April 1960 it was declared that the said parcel of

land at Arnos Vale in the Parish of St. George the property of the Executors
of the Estate of F. A. Casson measuring 54,316 square feet in area and bounded
on the north by lands of H. Williams, C. Yearwood, C. Coombs, C. Stephens,
A. Williams, S. Phills, W. Tyrell, J. Tyrell and Crown lands, on the south by
Crown lands, on the west by a public road was required for a public purpose
and should vest absolutely in the Crown upon the Second Publication of the
said Declaration to that effect in the Gazette:
AND WHEREAS it was further declared and notified that a plan of the said
land bearing the number G455 and prepared by H. Neblett Licensed Land
Surveyor was lodged for inspection at all reasonable hours at the Lands and
Surveys Department of Kingstown in the Colony of St. Vincent on the 16th
day of October 1959.
Now THIS is to require all persons interested to render to the Authorised
Officer at the said Lands and Surveys Department as soon as possible after
issue of this notice a statement in writing signed by them or their Attorneys
or Agents setting forth' the amounts and full particulars of their claim for
compensation in respect of their interest in the land here-in-before described
distinguishing the amounts under separate heads and showing how the amount
claimed'under each head is calculated.

NOTICE OF ACQUISITION.

WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
1946 (No. 22 of 1946) that if the Governor in Council considers that any land
should be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to that
effect to be made.
AND WHEREAS it was considered by the Governor in Council that the under-
mentioned parcels of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit, the
extension of Sandy Bay Village.
AND WHEREAS by declaration published in the Gazette on the 28th day
of June and the 5th day of July 1960 it was declared that the said parcels of
land at Orange Hill in the Parish of Charlotte the property of Messrs. Orange
Hill Estates Ltd. as set out in the schedule hereto was required for a public
purpose and should vest absolutely in the Crown upon the Second Publication
of the said Declaration to that effect in the Gazette:
AND WHEREAS it was further declared and notified that a plan of the said
land bearing the number C259 and prepared by G. E. Daisley Licensed Land
Surveyor was lodged for inspection at all reasonable hours at the Lands and
Surveys Department of Kingstown in the Colony of St. Vincent on the 25th
day of May 1960.
Now Tiis is to require all persons interested to render to the Authorised
Officer at the said Lands and Surveys Department as soon as possible after issue

AND WHEREAS it was considered by the Administrator in Council that the
undermentioned parcels of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit,
Housing Rehabilitation.
AND WHEREAS by declaration published in the Gazette on the 9th and 16th
days of February 1960 it was declared that the said parcels of land at Colonarie
in the Parish of Charlotte the property of A. B. C. DOSSANTOS as set out in the
Schedule hereto was required for a public purpose and should vest absolutely
in the Crown upon the Second Publication of the said Declaration to that effect
in the Gazette:

Friday, 7th October, 1960, beginning at
9.00 a.m.
2. The Scholarships are open to pu-
pils attending Government or Assisted
Primary Schools or Private Schools
which satisfy the requirements of the
Board of Education, and entitle the
holders to free tuition, games and libra-
ry fees and the necessary school books
and stationery. All scholarship holders,
who during the tenure of a scholarship
normally reside not less than two miles
from the limits of Kingstown measured
by the shortest public highway, shall be
entitled to receive a maintenance grant
at the rate of one hundred and ninety-
two dollars per annum: Provided that
should a scholarship holder cease so to
reside, for any period during the tenure
of the scholarship, no maintenance
grant shall be paid in respect of such
period, unless such scholarship holder
is living away from home for the pur-
pose of taking advantage of the scholar-
ship.
3. Candidates must (a) have been
less than 12 years of age on the 15th
September, 1960. Age must be proved
by a birth or baptismal certificate.
(b) have attended a Government
or Assisted Primary School or Private
School which satisfies the requirements
of the Board of Education, during the
twelve months preceding the 15th Sep-
tember, 1960, for not less than 75% of
the maximum attendances possible dur-
ing such period, as shown in the attend-
ance Register kept in the school.
(c) furnish certificates of good
conduct from the Head Teacher or
Head Teachers of such School or
Schools.
(d) be natives of the Colony, or
children of natives or have been resident
in the Colony for at least two years.
4. The Education Officer is empow-
ered to accept for examination any can-
didate who, through illness has failed
to comply with the requirements of
paragraph 3 (b) above, with respect to
the number of attendances.
5. No Scholarship shall be awarded
to any candidate who obtains less than
one-third of the possible marks in each
subject and less than one-half of the
total possible marks in the examination.
6. Scholarships are awarded for a
period of not more than six years pro-
vided the scholar's attendance, conduct
and progress as shown by the term re-
ports are considered satisfactory.
7. Candidates will be examined in
English, including Reading and Arith-
metic, and shall be given an Intelligence
Test.


8. Applications accompanied by pro-
per proof of age must reach the Educa-
tion Office not later than Saturday, 10th
September, 1960.

KINGSTOWN BOARD.

A competitive examination for the
award of two scholarships tenable at the
St. Vincent Grammar School and two
tenable at the Girls' High School will
be held at the Richmond Hill Govern-
ment School on Friday, 7th October,
1960, beginning at 9.00 a.m.
2. Each candidate must:-
(a) have been less than twelve years
of age on 31st July, 1960;
(b) be a native of the Island or chil-
dren of natives;
(c) have been residing in Kingstown
or within half a mile of the
boundaries thereof during the
three years previous to 31st July,
1960;
(d) be a pupil of a private or public
school in the Island;
(e) produce a certificate of good be-
haviour from the Head Teacher
of such school.
3. No Candidate shall be awarded a
Scholarship who obtains less than one
third of the maximum number of marks
in each subject and less than one half
of the total marks in the examination.
4. Candidates will be examined in
English, including Reading, Arithmetic,
and will be given an Intelligence Test.
5. The Scholarships are awarded for
a period of five years, provided the
Scholar's attendance, conduct and pro-
gress as shown by the term reports are
considered satisfactory.
6. Applications, accompanied by
Birth or Baptismal certificates must
reach the office of the Kingstown Board,
Paul's Lot, not later than 11.30 a.m. on
Wednesday, 14th September, 1960.
