VACANT POST OF ASSISTANT TO THE
PLANT PROTECTION OFFICER-DEPART-
MENT OF AGRICULTURE.

Applications are invited for the non-
pensionable post of Assistant to the
Plant Protection Officer under Colonial
Development and Welfare Scheme
D. 4254 in the Department of Agricul-
ture for a period of 8 months in the
first instance.

2. The salary of the post is at the
rate of $1,200.00 in the grade $1,200.00
x $72-$1,392.00. A 20% cost of living
allowance is also payable.
3. Duties will entail work mainly on
insecticides, herbicides, fungicides and
generally assisting the Plant Protection
Officer and the farming community with
pest and disease problems.
4. Candidates in possession of the
Cambridge School Certificate and cred-
its in Chemistry and Botany, Zoology
and Biology, or the General Certificate
of Education with passes in these sub-
jects at Advanced or Ordinary level
will be preferred.
5. Applications should be in appli-
cant's own handwriting and should be
addressed to the Chief Secretary, Gov-
ernment Office, to reach him not later
than 8th August, 1960.

DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE.

POST OF FOREST GUARD.
Applications are invited for the vacant
post of Forest Guard in the Forestry
Division of the Department of Agricul-
ture.
The salary of the post is in the scale
$748.80 x $43.20-$1008 per annum.
The post is non-pensionable and ap-
pointment thereto is liable to termina-
tion by one month's notice in writing
on either side.
The successful candidate will be res-
ponsible to the Superintendent of Agri-
culture, in his capacity as Chief Forest
Officer, for the performance of his duties.
The duties of the post entail the pa-
trolling and policing of all Crown Lands
in an assigned area, assisting in the
sale of forest produce, supervision of
silvicultural work and for the control
and supervision of all Crown Land
renters.
Applications stating educational and
other qualifications should be addressed
to the Superintendent of Agriculture,
Kingstown, and should reach him not
later than 30th July, 1960.

MEDICAL NOTICE.

FOOD SANITATION.

The Health Department is proposing
to launch a "Clean Food" Campaign
beginning in Kingstown. This has as
its objectives:
(i) An awakening of consciousness in
all those concerned that there is
a need for improvement.
(ii) Consideration of the ways and
means by which this goal could
be achieved.
2. With the trend of increasing
population and the rate at which per-
sons move from place to place, there
appears to be a pressing need for more
vigilance in that aspect of Public
Health, and the Department is there-
fore extending an invitation to the pro-
prietor or person immediately respon-
sible for the control and management of
Food Vending Establishments to attend
a short Course on Food Handling- a
series of five to six lectures of approxi-
mately one hour.
3. In order to plan adequately for
this Course it would be appreciated if
interested persons would signify their
willingness to attend, by informing
Public Health Inspectors within the
Kingstown District or getting in touch
with the Department.

WHER~EAS it is enacted by section 30 of the Adoption of Children Ordinance,
1959, that the said Ordinance shall come into force on a date to be appointed by
the Governor by Proclamation published in the Gazette:

Now THEREFORE I, ALEXANDER FALCONER GILES, the Officer for the time
being administering the Government of the Colony of Saint Vincent, pursuant
to the authority in me vested by the said Ordinance do hereby proclaim that the
aforesaid Ordinance shall come into operation on the Twentieth day of July, 1960.
GIVEN under my hand and the Public Seal of the Colony of Saint Vincent at
Government Office in the said Colony this Nineteenth day of July, One
thousand nine hundred and sixty and in the Ninth Year of the Reign

LOWMANS WINDWARD DISTRICT (ESTABLISHMENT
AND MEMBERSHIP OF COUNCIL) ORDER.

(Gazetted 26th July, 1960.)


1. Short title. This Order may be cited as the Lowmans Windward
District (Establishment and Membership of Council) Order, 1960.

2. Establishment of Council. There shall be a District Council, to
be known as the Lowmans Windward District Council, which shall be the Local
Authority for the villages enumerated in the Schedule to the Lowmans Windward
(Declaration of District) Order, 1960 (S.R. & O. 1960, No. 9).

3. Membership of District Council. The Lowmans Windward
District Council shall consist of six members of whom four shall be elected and
two nominated in manner provided by the Local Government Ordinance, 1951
(No. 17 of 1951).


Made by the Administrator in Council under Sections 7 and 9 of the Local
Government Ordinance, 1951 (No. 17 of 1951) as amended by Ordinance, No. 6 of
1955, this 14th day of July, 1960.

OFFICIAL DESIGNATIONS ORDER.

(Gazetted 26th July, 1960).


1. Short title. This Order may be cited as the Official Designations
Order, 1960.

2. Amendment of Schedule to Official Designations Ordi-
nance. The Schedule to the Official Designations Ordinance, 1940 (No. 4 of
1940), as amended, is hereby further amended-
(a) by substituting the words "Crown Attorney" for the words "Attorney
General" appearing in the first column'thereof; and
(b) by substituting the words "Attorney General" for the words "Crown
Attorney" appearing in the "second column thereof.

3. Commencement. This Order shall come into force on the 1st day
of August, 1960.


Made by the Administrator in Council under section 4 of the Official Designa-
tions Ordinance, 1940 (No. 4 of 1940) this 25th day of July, 1960.
