IN THE MATTER OF THE LAND ACQUISITION ORDINANCE 1946
(No. 22 of 1946)
AND
IN THE MATTER OF THE ACQUISITION by the Governor in Council of
two certain parcels of land at Orange Hill in the Parish of Charlotte for
a public purpose.

DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND.
(FIRST PUBLICATION.)

WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
1946 (No. 22 of 1946) that if the Governor in Council considers that any land
should be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to that effect
to be made.
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Administrator in Council that the
undermentioned parcels of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit,
the extension of Sandy Bay Village.
Now IT Is HEREBY DECLARED by His Honour the Administrator acting
in accordance with the advice of the Executive Council of the Colony of Saint
Vincent that upon the second Publication of this Declaration in the Gazette
all those parcels of land at Orange Hill in the Parish of Charlotte the property
of Messrs. Orange Hill Estates Ltd. as set out in the schedule hereto shall vest
absolutely in the Crown.
AND IT Is HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED AND NOTIFIED that a plan bearing
Number C259 showing the above mentioned parcels of land has been prepared
by G. E. Daisley, Licensed Land Surveyor, and lodged on the 25th day of May
1960 at the Lands and Surveys Department of Kingstown in the said Colony
and can be inspected at all reasonable hours at the said Department.

VACANT POST OF CLERK TO THE ARROW-
ROOT RESEARCH OFFICER, DEPARTMENT
OF AGRICULTURE, CAMDEN PARK
EXPERIMENT STATION.

Applications are invited for the non-
pensionable post of Clerk to the Arrow-
root Research Officer, Camden Park Ex-
periment Station, in the Department of
Agriculture, under C.D. & W. Scheme
R-905.
The salary of the post is at the rate
of $1,104 per annum in the scale $1,104
x $72-$1,392. However, the success-
ful candidate's qualifications may de-
termine the point in the scale at which
he will be paid. A 20% Cost of Living
Allowance is also payable.
Duties will include clerical work and
assisting the Arrowroot Research Officer
in the laboratory and the field. Candi-
dates should have the Cambridge School
Certificate and Credits in Scientific sub-
jects will be advantageous. Applica-
tions should be in the applicant's own
handwriting and should be addressed to
the Chief Secretary, Government Office,
to reach him not later than 30th June,
1960.

cation plate 2.48 metres long, 1.27
metres broad, .44 metres deep and car-
rying the inscription "Marlin-T.Y.C."


has been discovered in the Port of Fort
de France, Martinique.
Any person laying claim to this
wreck may communicate with the Mer-
cantile Marine Authority at that Port.

types of vehicles mentioned above, is
drawn to the provisions contained in
Regulations 20 and 21 and all amend-
ments thereto of the Motor Vehicle and

Road Traffic Regulations 1959, whereby
no licence may be issued or renewed for
such vehicles unless the Inspector certi-
fies that the vehicle complies with all
the provisions of the Ordinance and
of these Regulations.
The Inspector of Motor Vehicles will
be available at Police Headquarters
daily from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. except
on Sunday and Public Holidays, to en-
sure that all the abovementioned classes
of vehicles are inspected and are road-
worthy before 30th June, 1960.
Regulation 20 (6) requires that these
vehicles are examined twice annually,
that is before the 30th day of June and
the 31st day of December, in each year.
WARNING.
Vehicles which have not been pre-
sented for inspection or if presented
have not passed the examination by 30th
June, 1960, will be taken off the road.

ANNOUNCEMENT.

WINDWARD ISLANDS BANANA GROWERS'
INSURANCE SCHEME.

The attention of Banana Growers is
drawn to Section 24 of the Windward
Islands Banana Insurance Ordinance
which makes provision for every banana
grower to effect contractual insurance
against damage to plant mats in young
banana cultivations as a result of a
windstorm for the ensuing insurance
year which commences on the 1st July,
1960.
A plant mat is defined as any plant
or more than one plant which has de-
veloped from the original corn (under-
ground stem) and from which no bunch
or bunches have been harvested. Plant
mats do not qualify for statutory insur-
ance.
The premium payable by the grower
for contractual insurance is six cents
(6) per plant mat. Contractual insur-
ance benefit is paid to a grower only if
the percentage of damaged plant mats
is twenty per cent and over. The de-
clared unit of benefit shall be at the rate
of fifty cents (500) per damaged plant
mat.
