No. 140.
IN THE MATTER OF THE LAND ACQUISITION ORDINANCE 1946.
(No. 22 of 1946)

NOTIFICATION OF PRELIMINARY SURVEY

(Under Section 4 of the Ordinance)

WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance (No. 22
of 1946) that if the Governor in Council considers that any land may be required
for a public purpose and it is necessary to make a preliminary survey or other
investigation of the land, he may cause a notification to that effect to be pub-
lished in the Gazette:
AND WHEREAS the Governor in Council considers that a portion of land
approximately 4 acres in extent at Orange Hill in the Parish of Charlotte being
the property of Messrs Orange Hill Estates Ltd is likely to be acquired for a public
purpose, to wit, extension of Sandy Bay Village.
AND WHEREAS it is necessary to make a preliminary survey and other investiga-
tion of the said portion of land:
Now THEREFORE, this is to require all persons interested to allow Mr. Henry
Neblett the Authorised Officer (and his agents, assistants and workmen) to do all
or any of the following things, that is to say:-
(a) to enter upon and survey and take levels of the said portion of land
in the above mentioned locality;
(b) to set out the boundaries of the land intended to be acquired;
(c) to mark levels and lines by placing marks and cutting trenches;
(d) where otherwise the survey cannot be completed or the boundaries
set out or levels taken, to cut down and clear away any standirig
crop, fence, tree or bush;
(e) to do all such other acts as may be incidental to or necessary for any
of the purposes aforesaid.

NOTICE.

WH'iBEAS Article 57 (2) of the Constitution of The West Indies provides that
a law of the Federal Legislature may include provision conferring powers or
imposing duties, or authorising the conferring of powers or imposition of duties,
upon the Governor of a Territory or any officer or authority of a Territory but
that no such provision shall have effect in relation to any Territory unless the
Governor of that Territory has declared by notice in the Official Gazette of that
Territory that he consents to its having effect:
AND WHEREAS section 8 of the Census and Statistics Act, 1959, authorises the
Governor-General to enter into an arrangement with the Governor of a Territory
providing for any matter necessary or expedient for the purpose of carrying out
or giving effect to the provisions of the Act including certain matters specified
therein:
AND WHEREAS section 14 (4) of the Census and Statistics Act, 1959, imposes a
duty on any person having the custody or charge of certain records specified
therein:
Now, THEREFORE, I hereby declare that I consent to the above provisions
having effect in relation to this Territory.

PRICE STABILISATION COMMITTEE.

In accordance with the provisions con-
tained in Regulation 3 of the Sugar In-
dustry (Rehabilitation and Price Stabili-
sation) Regulations, 1950 (S. R. & O.
No. 41 of 1950), the Administrator-in-
Council has been pleased to appoint the
following persons as Chairman and Mem-
bers of the Sugar Industry Rehabilita-
tion and Price Stabilisation Committee
for a period of two years with effect from
