WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance 1946
(No. 22 of 1946) that if the Governor in Council considers that any land should
be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to that effect to be
made:
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Governor in Council that the under-
mentioned parcel of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit, the
improvement of the Simon/New Prospect Public Road:

Now IT Is HEREBY DECLARED by His Excellency the Governor acting in
accordance with the advice of the Executive Council of the Colony of Saint
Vincent that upon the Second Publication of this Declaration in the Gazette all
that parcel of land at Simon in the Parish of Charlotte the property of David
Jackson measuring 1,870 square feet in area and bounded on the North by the
Public Road on the South by a Stream on the East and West by the remaining
lands of the said David Jackson shall vest absolutely in the Crown.

AND IT IS HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED AND NOTIFIED that a plan bearing
the Number C3/14 showing the above mentioned parcel of land has been
prepared by Henry Neblett, Licensed Land Surveyor and can be inspected at all
reasonable hours at the Lands and Surveys Department of Kingstown in the
said Colony.

public purpose.


DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND


(FIRST PUBLICATION.)


WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance 1946
(No. 22 of 1946) that if the Governor in Council considers that any land should
be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to that effect to be
made:

AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Governor in Council that the under-
mentioned parcel of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit, the
improvement of the Freeland/Farm Public Road:

Now IT Is HEREBY DECLARED by His Excellency the Governor acting in
accordance with the advice of the Executive Council of the Colony of Saint
Vincent that upon the Second Publication of this Declaration in the Gazette all
that parcel of land at Mesopotamia in the Parish of Charlotte the property of
Clement Sampson measuring 1,018 square feet in area and bounded on the
North and East by the Freeland/Farm Public Road on the South and West by
the remaining lands of the said Clement Sampson shall vest absolutely in the
Crown:

AND IT IS HEREBY .FURTHER DECLARED AND NOTIFIED that a plan bearing
the Number C3/16 showing the above mentioned parcel of land has been
prepared by Henry Neblett, Licensed Land Surveyor and lodged on the 19th
day of May, 1958 at the Lands and Surveys Department of Kingstown in the
said Colony and can be inspected at all reasonable hours at the said Department.

COMPENSATION FOR LOSS OF HOUSEHOLD
GOODS AND TOOLS OF TRADE AS A RESULT
OF THE WAR OR POLITICAL PERSECUTION.

Individuals who suffered property
damage because of seizure, loss or des-
truction of household goods or tools of
trade, within the Austrian Federal Ter-
ritory,
(a) directly through war events or
through acts of the Armed
Forces of the Allied and Asso-
ciated Powers during the period
between September 1, 1939 and
September 11, 1945, or
(b) through measures of political
persecution (Article 26 para-
graph 1 of the State Treaty
(BG B1 No. 152/55 and Section 1
paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Wel-
fare Victims Law, BG B1
No. 183/47 as amended by Law
No. 77/57)) during the period
between March 6, 1933 and May
8, 1945,
may be granted compensation in accord-
ance with the provisions of Federal Law
No. 127 of the Austrian Federal Repub-
lic dated 25th of June, 1958 (War and
Persecution: Property Damage Law).
Claims for compensation under this
law should be lodged with the Finanz-
landesdirektion, in whose area of juris-
diction the seized, lost, or destroyed
property was located at the time the
damage occurred, before the 30th of
June, 1959. Claims not so filed will be
extinguished at that date.
If in doubt, claimants are advised to
consult a lawyer practising in Austrian
Law.

RESTORATION OF LIFE ASSURANCE
POLICIES.

A new Law (Federal Law concerning
the settlement of claims arising from
life assurance policies confiscated by
the German Reich) was passed by the

Austrian Parliament on the 26th of
June, 1958, designed to restore the
right to claim benefits from life assur-
ance policies which were confiscated by
the German Reich during the National-
Socialist regime. As a result of this
measure, which came into effect on the
8th of July, 1958-one day after
its publication in the Austrian Official
Gazette-the former holders of such
policies will be treated in the same way
as if their policies had never been con-
fiscated. Persons who consider them-
selves entitled, should file their claims
with the appropriate Austrian insurance
company not later than the 30th of June,
1959.
If in doubt claimants are advised to
consult a lawyer practising in Austrian
Law.

NEW AUSTRIAN LAW ON COM-
PENSATION FOR OCCUPATION
DAMAGE.

By Article 24 (2) of the State Treaty
of May 15, 1955, the Austrian Govern-
ment undertook inter alia 'to make equi-
table compensation in schillings...in
satisfaction of non-combat damage
claims against the forces of the Allied
or Associated Powers arising in Aus-
trian territory."
Federal Law No. 126 of June 25, 1958,
makes provision for such compensation,
claims will be extinguished unless they
are filed by June 30, 1959 at latest with
the Finanzlandes-Direktion in whose
area the damage occurred. If in doubt
claimants are advised to consult a law-
yer practising in Austrian Law.

RETURN OF PROPERTY IN AUSTRIA.

The Seventh State Treaty Implemen-
tation Law was passed by the Austrian
Parliament on July 10, 1958.
Under this law, individuals who were
German nationals on May 8, 1945, and
whose property has consequently passed
to the Austrian State in accordance with
Article 22 of the State Treaty, are now
entitled to apply for the return of their
property, provided that
(i) at any time before May 8, 1945,
they possessed the nationality of
any of the four Occupying
Powers
(ii) they had, before July 27, 1955,
re-acquired this nationality, and
thereby lost German nationality


(iii) the property in question is not
included in Lists 1 and 2 of
Article 22 of the State Treaty.
Claims in this connection must be
filed with the Ministry of Finance not
later than December 31, 1959. If in
doubt claimants are advised to consult a
lawyer practising in Austrian Law.

POLICE NOTICE.

The owners of Public Service Vehicles,
Goods Vehicles and Trailers. H., H.T., &
T Plates).
The attention of persons who own the
types of vehicles mentioned above, is
drawn to the provisions contained in
Regulations 18 and 19 and all amend-
ments thereto of the Motor Vehicles and
Road Traffic Regulations, 1940, whereby
such vehicles unless the Inspector certi-


fies that the vehicles complies with all
the provisions of the Ordinance and of
these Regulations.
The inspector of Motor Vehicles will be
available during the month of December
from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. except on Sundays
and Public Holidays, to ensure that all
the abovementioned classes of vehicles
are inspected, and are roadworthy before
the 31st December, 1958.
Regulation 18 (5) requires that these
vehicles are examined twice annually,
that is before the 30th day of June and
the 31st day of December, in each year.

WARNING:
Vehicles which have not been present-
ed for inspection or if presented have not
passed the examination by the 31st
January 1959, will be taken off the road.
