(No. 22 of 1946)
AND
IN THE MATTER OF THE ACQUISITION by the Governor in Council of
a certain parcel of land at Calliaqua in the Parish of St. George for a
public purpose.

DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND.

(FIRST PUBLICATION.)

WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
1946 (No. 22 of 1946) that if the Governor in Council considers that any land
should be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to that
effect to be made:
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Governor in Council that the under-
mentioned parcels of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit,
the improvement of the Calliaqua River Embankment:
Now IT Is HEREBY DECLARED by His Excellency the Governor acting in
accordance with the advice of the Executive Council of the Colony of Saint
Vincent that upon the Second Publication of this Declaration in the Gazette
all those parcels of land at Calliaqua in the Parish of St. George as described
in the Schedule hereunder shall vest absolutely in the Crown.
AND IT IS HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED AND NOTIFIED that a plan bearing
the Number G426 showing the above mentioned parcels of land has been pre-
pared by W. E. Falby, Licensed Land Surveyor and can be inspected at all
reasonable hours at the Lands and Surveys Department of Kingstown in the
said Colony.

of Agricultural Superintendent, St.
Lucia.

Salary:
The salary of the post, which is pen-
sionable is in the scale $4,320 x $120-
$5,280 per annum plus a pensionable
pay addition of 20% of salary. The
appointment carries with it liability to
transfer to any post of equivalent status
in the Windward Islands.

Duties:
The successful candidate will be exr

Department of the Colony, (which in-i
eludes Forestry and Fisheries), and to
carry out the approved policies with re-
gard to agricultural planning and de-
velopment.
Qualifications:
The officer should be a graduate of an
approved Agricultural Institution, with
at least five (5) years practical experi-
ence in Tropical Agriculture. Prefer-
ence will be given to candidates with
additional qualifications in Agricultural
Economics.
Further particulars regarding the ap-
pointment may be obtained from the
Chief Secretary, Windward Islands,
(Gr4nada, to whom applications should be
addressed to reach him not later than
the 31st October, 1958.

NOTICE.

ADMISSION TO THE LONDON SCHOOL OF
ECONOMICS & POLITICAL SCIENCE
1959/60 SESSION.

It is understood from the Registrar
of the London School of Economics and
Political Science that the following pro-
cedure will be followed for admission to
the School in October, 1959.
2. The last date for receipt of appli-
cations at the School for students resid-
ing overseas will be 30th November,
1958. It is stressed that it is most im-
portant for applications to be received
as early as possible before that date and
that reasonable time should be allowed
for postal transmission.
3. The School will consider applica-
tions and will then select at their dis-
cretion those applicants who will be re-
quired to sit for an entrance examina-
tion which will be held on W lediesday,
8th April, 1959. Candidates should
understand that the School re:;irves the
right to select from the field of appli-
cations and that permission to sit the en-
trance examination is a privilege and
is not granted automatically.
4. The entrance examination will
take the form of one 3-hour paper of a
general nature. Students overseas will
take the examination under local ar-
rangements and will be required to pro-
duce to the invigilator a written per-
mission to attend signed by the Regis-
trar of the school. A fee of 1 (one
pound) will be payable and candidates
will be expected to be responsible for
any charges (as for example for invi-
gilation) which may be incurred.


5. 'Prospective local students should
submit theirs applications through the
Education Officer, St. Vincent, in order
to obtain the status of "recommended
student'". Such, applications will be
forwarded to the Director, Students
Unit in London, for transmission to the
London School of Economics.
6. Students who adopt this proce-
dure but are unsuccessful in obtaining
admission to the London School of Eco-
nomics will have the advantage of hav-
ing their documents considered in Lon-
don with a view to an application for
a place being made on their behalf for
admission to an economics course in one
of the other universities in the United
Kingdom, where their qualifications are
in accordance with the relevant require-
ments of such universities.

PUBLIC HEALTH NOTICE.

A course of instruction to prepare
candidates for the examination for the
Royal Society for the Promotion of
Health Certificate will be given in the
Medical Department, Kingstown, which
will commence on 27th October, 1958,
and will last for six months during
which time lectures and demonstrations
will be given three afternoons a week in
the Medical Department.
Prospective candidates should be of a
high educational standard. Possession
of the Cambridge Senior Certificate or
its equivalent is desirable but not essen-
tial. Consideration will be given to can-
didates who pass a special qualifying
examination which will be held prior to
the commencement of the Course, but
such students will be ultimately eligible
-only for the local qualifying examina-
tion for Sanitary Inspectors, and cannot
:sit for the recognized Royal Society Cer-
tificate.
Further details as regards the fees
payable for the Course, date of examin-
.ation, and times of lectures will be sup-
plied on direct.application to the Medi-
.cal Department.

SALE OF OUTBOARD MOTOR.

The General Public and in particular
those persons who have tendered as at
29th July, 1953 for the purchase of the
Johnson Outboard Motor previously ad-
vertised for sale by Government-see
Government Notice dated 27th June,
1958-are hereby notified that the Ten-
ders Board considers the offer received
inadequate and consequently is unable
to accept one of them.
Tenders are therefore again invited
for the purchase of the Outboard Motor
to which an upset price of six hundred
dollars ($600.00) is attached.
This engine which is a 35 H.P. John-
son 'Sea Horse' engine may be inspected
at the Customs Baggage Room between
the hours of 8.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. on
any working day except Wednesdays,
up to Tuesday, 14th October, 1958.
Sealed tenders should be addressed to
"The Chairman, Tenders Board, Kings-
town, St. Vincent," should be clearly
marked on the envelope "Tenders for

and House Tax Ordinance", Chapter 194, as amended by Ordinance No. 12

"IMMIGRATION (PASSPORTS EXEMPTION)
(AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS.


(Gazetted 7th October, 1958).

1. Short title. These Regulations may be cited as the Immigration
(Passports Exemption) (Amendment) Regulations, 1958, and shall be read as one
with the Immigration (Passports Exemption) Regulations, 1947 (S.R.& O. 1947,
No. 80) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Regulations) and all amend-
ments thereto.

2. Regulation 3 of principal Regulations amended. Sub-para-
graph (i) of paragraph (c) of Regulation 3 of the principal Regulations is
hereby amended by inserting the words "or. an onward ticket to another desti-
nation" immediately before the semi-colon appearing at the end thereof.

Made by the Governor under Section 5 of the Immigration (Restriction)
Ordinance, 1939 (No. 2 of 1939) this 3rd day of October 1958.
