MISCELLANEOUS NOTICES.
GERMAN FEDERAL COMPENSATION
LAW (BEG).

EXTENSION OF FILING PERIOD FOR
CLAIMS.

The period within which claims under
the above law may be filed has been ex-
tended from the 1st October, 1957 to the
1st April, 1958.
10th December, 1957.

No. 566.
Federal German Law for the Settlement of
the Monetary Restitution Liabilities of
the German Reich and Legal Entities
of Equal Legal Status, of 19th
July, 1957. (Bundesrucker-
stattungsgesetx).

This notice does not purport to give
more than a very general indication of
the main purposes of the above law,
copies of which may be obtained either
from Bundesanzeiger-Verlag G.m.b.H.,
Bonn (Bundesgesetzblatt Sect. I, No. 32
of 23rd July, 1957-price 40 pfg. and
postage), or from Interbook Ltd., 12,
Fitzroy Street, London, W.1. If in
doubt, persons interested are advised to
consult a lawyer practising in German
Law. Advice may also be obtained
from the Federal German Embassy,
21/23, Belgrave Square, London,
S.W.1, or from any Federal German
Consulate, form whom the necessary
application forms and an explanatory
leaflet concerning the submission of
claims may be obtained.
The Law deals only with monetary
restitution liabilities of the former
Reich and certain other specified legal
entities. It does not cover physical
restitution of identifiable property. The
Law provides for the filing and satisfac-
tion of claims and
(1) creates certain new categories of
monetary restitution claim:
(i) in respect of effects- mainly
household effects-of emi-
grants or intending emi-
grants which were seized in
transit outside the Federal.
area, and

(ii) by bringing the restitution
legislation applicable to the
former French Zone into
line with that of the re-
mainder of the Federal area
makes possible claims for
compensatory payments.
(2) re-opens the filing period for
monetary restitution claims:
Any persons who were entitled under
the legislation for the restitution of
identifiable property in force in the
former Western zones of Germany and
Western Sectors of Berlin and who be-
come entitled under the provisions of
the new law to claim either the restitu-
tion of a specific sum of money or dam-
ages for the failure to restore identifi-
able property restorable under that
legislation, may now file a claim for the
payment of such sum of money or such
damages. This applies both when no
claim has been previously filed under
the restitution legislation hitherto in
force and when claims which had been
filed were rejected or were withdrawn
or renounced by the claimant.
Claims, including those in respect of
categories now possible for the first
time, must be submitted, in quadrupli-
cate, before the 1st APRIL, 1958, to the
competent Central Filing Agency as
under:
For the former British Zone:
Verwaltungsamt fur innere
Restitutionen,
STADTHAGEN,
Obernstrasse 29.
For the former Uni',ed States Zone:
Verwaltungsamt fur innere
Restitutionen,
Aussenstelle Munchen,
Munchen 2,
Deroystrasse 4,11.
For the Western Sectors of Berlin:
Haupttreuhander fur
Ruckerstattungsvermogen
BERLIN W.30
Nurnbergerstrasse 53-55.
Procedure for the filing of claims for
the area of the former French Zone is
somewhat different-involving the Land
Courts and Oberfinanzdirektionen-and
full details of this is given in the explan-
