VACANCY IN THE POST OF ASSISTANT
SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC WORKS,
ST. KITTs-NEVIS-ANGUILLA.

Applications are invited from suitably
qualified persons for appointment to the
post of Assistant Superintendent of Pub-
lic Works, St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla.
2. The post is on contract for a period
of three years and carries salary of
$5,760 per annum and a transport allow-
ance. A gratuity in lieu of pension will
be payable upon successful completion
of the contract. The officer appointed
thereto will be subject to the Regulations
of Her Majesty's Colonial Service and
to the Laws, General Orders and Statu-
tory Rules and Orders in force in the
Colony from time to time.
3. The duties of the post are to act as
Deputy to the Superintendent of Public
Works, and to perform general adminis-
trative and supervisory duties of the
Public Works Department, covering
urilin-s and engineering projects,
maintenance, water supply, roads, air-
cldcs, telephones etc.
4. Candidates should possess the
A.R.I.B.A. or A.M.I.C.E. qualification, or
should be Chartered Surveyors just
quali-eJ, or should be of Intermediate
Examination standard or of comparable
experience and qualifications.
5. Free passages will be provided for
the officer and also for his wife and not
more than three children under the age
of eighteen years who are unmarried
and are dependent upon him, provided
that they accompany him or join him in
the Colony or Presidency within twelve
months of I is appointment.
6. Under General Orders vacation
leave may be granted at the rate of 45
days per annum accumulable up to a
maximum of 144 days. A free leave pas-
sage will be provided for the officer him-
self and also his wife and not more than
three children under the age of eighteen
years who are unmarried and are depen-
dent upon him, back to the place of
recruitment, upon completion of the
contract.

to the Colonial Secretary in the Colony
in which the applicant resides not later
than the 15th June, 1956, for onward
transmission to the Government of the
Presidency of St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla.

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT,
ST. KITTS-NEVIS-ANGUILLA.

Applications are invited from suitably
qualified persons for appointment to the
post of Clerk of Works, St. Kitts-Nevis-
Anguilla.
2. The post is pensionable and car-
ries salary of $3,744 x $144-$4,320 per
annum, and a transport allowance. The
officer appointed thereto will be on
three years probation and subject to the
Regulations for Her Majesty's Colonial
Service and to the Laws, General Orders
and Statutory Rules and Orders in force
in the Colony from time to time.
3. The duties of the post are the
supervision and maintenance of Public
Works covering building and engineer-
ing projects.
4. Candidates should have extensive
knowledge and experience in general
Civil Engineering and building construc-
tion; a knowledge of all trades and wide
experience in the supervision of labour.
5. Free passages will be provided for
the officer and also for his wife and not
more than three children under the age
of eighteen years who are unmarried
and are dependent upon him, provided
that they accompany him or join him in
the Colony or Presidency within twelve
months of 'his appointment.
6. Under General Orders, vacation
leave may be granted at the rate of 36
days per annum accumulable up to a
maximum of 144 days. A free leave pas-
sage to a British Caribbean Colony will
be-provided for the officer himself after
completing a minimum tour of three
years, or for the officer and his wife
after completing a minimum tour of six
years.
7. Applications should be submitted
to the Colonial Secretary in the Colony
in which the applicant resides not later
than the 15th June, 1956, for onward
transmission to the Government of the
Presidency of St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla.

VACANCIES FOR ASSISTANT DRAUGHTSMEN
IN THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT OF
ST. KITTS-NEVIS-ANGUILLA.

It is notified for general information
that vacancies exist in the Public Works
Department, St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla, for
three Assistant Draughtsmen. Applica-
tions are invited from suitably qualified
persons for appointment to these posts.
2. The posts are non-pensionable and
officers appointed thereto will be on
contract for 3 years and on a salary
scale of $3,744 x $144-$4,32,0. A gratuity
in lieu of pension will be payable on the
satisfactory completion of the contract.


The appointment will be subject to the
Regulations for Her Majesty's Colonial
Service and to the Laws, General Orders
and Statutory Rules and Orders in force
in the Colony from time to time.
3. The duties of the posts are the pre-
paration of plans, estimates and quanti-
ties for buildings, housing and other
Civil Engineering works.
4. Candidates should have experience
and sound knowledge of building con-
struction and reinforced concrete detail-
ing.
5. Free passages will be provided for
the officer and also for his wife and not
more than three children under the age
of eighteen years who are unmarried
and are dependent upon him, provided
that they accompany him or join him in
the Colony or Presidency within twelve
months of his appointment.
6. Under General Orders vacation
leave may be granted at the rate of 36
days per annum. A free passage back to
the place of recruitment will be provided
for the officer himself on completion of
the contract.
7. Applications should be submitted
to the Colonial Secretary in the Colony
in which the applicant resides not later
than the 15th June, 1956, for onward
transmission to the Government of the
Presidency of St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla.

VACANCY IN POST OF LAND SURVEYOR,
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT,
ST. KITTs-NrvIS-ANGUILLA.

Applications are invited from suitably
qualified persons for appointment to the
post of Land Surveyor, St. Kitts-Nevis-
Anguilla.
2. The post is pensionable and carries
a salary of $4,320 per annum and a
transport allowance. The person ap-
pointed thereto will be on three years
probation a--d he will be subject to the
Regulations for Her Majesty's Col nial
Service and to the Laws, General Orders
and Statutory Rules and Orders in force
in the Colony from time to time.
3. The duties of the post will be the
execution of cadastral surveys and tie in
to Triangulation; preparation of second
order precise traverses, topographic
plans and hydrographic surveys; layout
of roads, housing schemes, buildings
and engineering works; levelling; pre-
paration of neat and accurate drawings.
4. Candidates should have passed the
Intermediate Examination of the Royal
Institution of Chartered Surveyors or
have comparable experience and qualifi-
cation.
5. Free passages will be provided for
the officer and his wife and not
more than three children under the age
of eighteen years Who are unmarried
and are dependent upon him, provided

that they accompany him or join him in
the Colony or Presidency within twelve
months of his appointment.
