It has been announced by the Secretary of State for the Colonies, Mr. Alan
Lennox Boyd, that Her Majesty the Queen has been pleased to approve appoint-
ment of Mr. COLVILLE MONTGOMERY DEVERELL, C.M.G., C.V.O., O.B.E.,
Colonial Secretary, Jamaica, to be Governor and Commander in Chief of the
Windward Islands in succession to Sir BETHAM BEETHAM, K.C.M.G.. C.V.O.,
O.B.E., whose appointment to be Governor and Commander in Chief of Trinidad
and Tobago was recently announced.

FAREWELL VISIT OF GOVERNOR.
His Excellency Sir EDWARD BETHAM BEETHAM, K.C.M.G., C.V.O., O.B.E.,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief, Windward Islands, and Lady Beetham
arrived in the Colony, by air, at 12.30 p.m. on Saturday, 5th March, 1955, and
bade farewell to St. Vincent, prior to returning to Grenada the same afternoon
by air at 4.30 p.m.
During His Excellency's absence from Grenada Mr. Louis COOLS-LARTIrGU,
O.B.E., Chief Secretary, Windward Islands, was appointed Governor's Deputy.

WHEREAS it is enacted by section 42 of the Banana Growers Association
Ordinance, 1954, that the said Ordinance shall come into operation on a date
to be fixed by the Governor by proclamation in the Gazette:

AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient that the said Ordinance shall come
into operation onr the 14th day of March, 1955:

Now THEREFORE I, OSMUND RANDOLPH KELSICK, pursuant to the authority
in me vested by the said Ordinance do hereby proclaim that the aforesaid
Ordinance shall come into operation on the 14th day of March, 1955.

GIVEN under my hand and the Public Seal of the Colony of Saint Vincent,
at Government fOffice in the said Colony this 7th day of March One
thousand nine hundred and fifty-five and in the Fourth Year of the
