AN ORDINANCE to amend the Ticket Duty Ordinance, 1947.

Enacted by the Governor with the advice and consent of the
Legislative Council of Saint Vincent.
E 1st January, 1951. 1

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Ticket Duty
(Amendment) Ordinance, 1950, and shall be read as one with the
Ticket Duty Ordinance, 1947, (hereinafter referred to as the
principal Ordinance) and all amendments thereto.

2. Section 4 of the principal Ordinance is hereby amended:
(a) by the deletion of paragraph (f) from
subsection (2) thereof;
(b) by the addition thereto of'the following
subsection :-
(5) The Treasurer or any other public
officer authorised by him in writing to act
on his behalf shall, on the request of any
person exempted from the payment of
Ticket Duty under this section,-issue to
such person a certificate to be known as
a certificate of exemption, and every such
person shall before purchasing a ticket
produce the same for inspection by the
person from whom he is purchasing the.

No. 21 of 1940.


Commencement.


For the purposes of this subsection a
licence issued to a trafficker under the
Licences Ordinance 1940 shall be deemed
to be a certificate of exemption.
(6) No ticket shall be sold to any per-
son exempted as aforesaid, by any agent,
captain or master of any vessel, whether
a steamship, sailing vessel or other vessel,
or by the pilot of any aircraft unless such
person first produces his certificate of ex-
emption for inspection, and any agent,
captain, master or pilot who contravenes
the provisions of this subsection shall be
liable on summary conviction to a penalty
not exceeding five pounds."


3. This Ordinance shall come into operation on the first day
of January, 1951.

AN ORDINANCE to impose a tax on packages imported into the
Colony.

[ 1st January, 1951. ]

Enacted by the Governor with the advice and consent of the
Legislative Council of Saint Vincent.


1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Package Tax
Ordinance, 1950.

2. From and after the passing of this Ordinance a package
tax on every package of goods imported and landed at any port or
place in the Colony shall be paid by the importer of such goods to
the Treasurer or the Colonial Postmaster for the use of the
Colony.

3. (1) The said tax shall be calculated at the time the
package or packages is or are delivered for use in the Colony
under the Treasurer's warrant and the Treasurer shall not grant
such warrant until he is satisfied that the package tax has been
duly paid.
(2) In the case of packages arriving in the Colony by parcel
post the Colonial Postmaster shall collect the said tax before
delivery of the package.

4. A tax of six cents shall be paid on every package arriving
in the Colony : Provided that in the case of loose articles the
said tax shall be calculated and paid either by weight at the rate

of six cents for each hundred weight or part thereof or by
measurement at the rate of six cents for every two cubic feet or
part thereof, whichever may be the greater.

5. The following packages of goods shall be exempt from
package tax :-
(a) passenger's personal baggage;
(b) every package imported into the Colony containing goods
which shall be proved to the satisfaction of the Treasurer
or the Colonial Postmaster to have been previously
imported into the Colony, a tax having been paid on such
previous importation thereof, and to have been exported
therefrom, after such previous importation, for the
purpose of sale or trade thereof;
(c) all things imported by the Governor and all goods or
stores imported by the Government and the Kingstown
Board for the public use of the Colony.

6. This Ordinance shall come into operation on the first day
of January, 1951.

Enacted by the Governor with the advice and consent of the
Legislative Council of Saint Vincent.

1. Th.E Ordinance may be cited as the Supplementary
Appropriation (1949) Ordinance, 1950.

2. The sums set forth in the Schedule hereto amounting to
Two hundred and forty-seven thousand and forty-seven dollars
and sixty-one cents, and drawn from the Public Treasury for the
service of the year ended the thirty-first'day of December, one
thousand nine hundred and forty-nine under the Warrant of the
Governor, in addition to the sums granted by the Appropriation
(1949) Ordinance, 1948 (No. 29 of 1948) are hereby declared to
have been lawfully expended for the services mentioned in-the
said Schedule.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Stamp (Amendment)
Ordinance, 1950, and shall be read as one with the Stamp
Ordinance, (hereinafter referred to as the principal Ordinance)
and all amendments thereto).

AN ORDINANCE to amend the Licences Ordinance, 1940.

Enacted by the Governor with the advice and consent of the
Legislative Council of Saint Vincent.


1. This Ordinance may be cited .as the Licences
(Amendment) Ordinance, 1950, and shall be read as one with the
Licences Ordinance, 1940, (hereinafter referred to as the principal
Ordinance) and all amendments thereto.
2. Schedule A of the principal Ordinance is hereby amended-
(a) by deleting the figures "5" and "0" appearing respectively
in the shillings and pence column thereof opposite the
word landing in the sixth line and substituting therefore
the figures '" 8" and 4 respectively in the said columns;
(b) by deleting the figure "7" appearing in the 'shillings
column thereof opposite the word "hire in the seventh
line, and substituting therefore the figures 12 in the said
column.
3. Schedule B of the principal Ordinance is hereby amended
by inserting beneath the word dog in the first column thereof
the symbols, letter and word (c) Trafficker ".

4. Schedule C of the principal Ordinance as amended by
section 2 of the Licences (Amendment) Ordinance, 1949, is hereby
repealed and replaced as follows :-

Enacted by the Governor with the advice and consent of the
Legislative Council of Saint Vincent.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Excise (Amendment)
Ordinance, 1950, and shall be read as one with the Excise
Ordinance, (hereinafter referred to as the principal Ordinance)
and all amendments thereto.

2. Subsection (3) of section 10 of the principal Ordinance as
amended by section 2 of the Excise (Amendment) Ordinance,
1949, is hereby further amended by substituting the words
" twenty-five pounds for the words ten 'pounds" appearing at
the end thereof.

3. Subsection (1) of section 13 of the principal Ordinance is
hereby amended by substituting the word twenty for the word
" ten in line seven thereof.


4. This Ordinance shall come io operation on the first day
of January, 1951.
