VETERINARY NOTICE.

CATTLE DIPS AND SIMILAR PREPA-
RATIONS-A CAUTION.

A case has occurred recently in which
a stockowner in St. Vincent dressed his
cattle for ticks with a cattle dip contain-
ing poisonous ingredients. He has lost
several animals owing to misuse of the
preparation. Stockowners should be
careful to follow exactly the directions
of the makers of such preparations. If
directions on a container are not legible,
a copy should be studied, It is advisable
also for suppliers to ensure that direct-
ions on containers supplied to the public
are legible. Suppliers might be able to
keep a reserve supply of the appropriate
labels.

ST. VINCENT GRAMMAR SCHOOL (AMENDMENT)
REGULATIONS.

(Gazetted 23rd May, 1950.)

1. Short title. These Regulations may be cited as the St. Vincent
Grammar School (Amendment) Regulations, 1950, and shall be read as one with
the St. Vincent Grammar School Regulations, 1941, (S. R. & 0. 1941, No. 23)
(hereinafter referred to as the principal Regulations) and all amendments
thereto.


2. Regulation 32 revoked and replaced. Regulation 32
principal Regulations is hereby revoked and replaced as follows :-

32. The Government will offer annually-
(a) to pupils of the School who shall be under 14 years of age on the
31st c'y of December of the year in vwhch the award is to be made,
an exhibition tenable at the school for a period of 3 years with
free tuition, games and library facilities. Such exhibition shall be
awarded on the results of a competitive examination to be
prescribed by the Head Master of the School; and
(b) to pupils of the School who shall be under 17 years of age on the
31st day of December of the year preceding the year in which the
award is made, two exhibitions tenable at the School for a period
of 2 years with free tuition, games and library facilities. Such
exhibitions shall be awarded on the results of the School
Certificate Examination held in the year next preceding the year
in which the award is to be made.
No boy shall be allowed to retain the benefit of more than one
scholarship at the same time."

1937, (No. 20 of 1937), this 25th day of April, 1950.

1. Short title. This Notice may be cited' as the Prices Control,
(Amendment No. 16) Notice.
2. Amendment. The prices set out hereunderr are the Maximum prices
for which the articles enumerated may be sold-in the Colony and the First
Schedule Part B to the Prices Control Order 1947 (S.R. & O. No. 25) is hereby
amended by deleting all the words, figures and symbols occurring in the columns

PORT ELIZABETH (TOWN EXTENSION) HOUSING
SCHEME.

SECTION 6 OF THE TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ORDINANCE,
No. 2 of 1946.

1. Introductory. The Scheme set out hereunder gives effect to a
resolution passed by the Port Elizabeth Local Authority, Bequia, on the 13th
February,.1950, declaring their intention of preparing a Town Extension Scheme
covering a portion of the area brought within the boundaries of Port Elizabeth by
resolution of the Legislative Council dated 18th January, 1949.
2. Joint Nature of Scheme. -The Scheme shall be executed jointly
by the Housing and Planning Authority and the Port Elizabeth Local Authority
constituted under the provisions of S. R. & O. No. 59 of 1949.
3. Designation of Scheme. The Scheme shall be designated-Port
Eliz-abeth (Town Extension) Housing Scheme.
4. Area Covered by Scheme. The area covered by the Scheme shall
comprise all that area of land being a portion of the Town of Port Elizabeth,
shown on Plans Gr. B 54 and Gr. B 55 prepared by the Crown Surveyor and
registered in the Surveys Office on the 24th September, 1948.
5. Objects of Scheme. The objects of the Scheme are to provide for
the orderly and progressive development of the area as an integral part of the
Town of Port Elizabeth by-
(a) laying out the said area. in regular building lots,
(b) constructing streets and drains, and
(c) providing a standpipe water supply as far as may be practicable having
regard to the location and size of the water catchment area adjoining
the Town.
6. Allocation of Building Lots. (1) The allocation of building lots
shall rest with the Local Authority.
(2) No Lot shall be sub-divided.
7. Sale of Building Lots. (1) Persons desirous of purchasing lots
S- shall apply in writing to the Warden.
(2) The lots shown on Plan Gr. B. 54 shall be sold at t-ree cents per square
foot. Provided that a purchaser on application may be allowed to make a down
payment of not less than one-third of the purchase money and to pay the
remainder within a period of two years. In every case where the remainder of
the purchase money is not paid within the prescribed period of two years, interest
at the rate of four per centum per annum shall be payable on the unpaid balance.
(3) The lots shown on Plan Gr. B. 55 shall be sold at seven cents per square
foot and for cash only.
8. Building Regulations. The Public Health (Buildings) Regulations,
1946, and all amendments thereto shall apply but shall be revised in the following
espects-
(a) No building or structure of any kind shall be constructed of wattle-and-
daub or covered with trash, grass or other material not approved by
the Local Authority.
(b) Every lot shall have access to a public road.
(c) No kitchen, garage or other outhouse shall be occupied for living or
sleeping purposes.






9. Persons to Rectify Departures from the Regulations if
called upon by the Warden to do so. (1) Any authorised person who
cxecutcs work to which any of the regulations apply and who receives notice from
the Warden in writing, at any reasonable time during the progress or after the
completion of the work specifying any matters in respect of which the erection or
execution in-y be in contravention of these regulations, and requiring such
person within a time specified, to cause anything done contrary to any of these
regulations to be amended or to do anything which by any such regulations may
be required to be done, but which has been omitted to be done, shall, within the
time s cifiei, comply with the several requirements and shall deliver to the
Warden within a reasonable time, a notice of the completion of such work.
(2) In cl se of non-compliance with the requirements of the aforesaid notice,
it shall be lawful for the Local Authority to execute the works required and to
recover the cost from the defaulting party as a civil debt.
10. R o3ds. No main road shall be less than twenty feet in width and no
access road shall be less than twelve feet wide.
11. Overgrowth of Bush and Trees. With a view to preventing the
' . -::..'. o0 bush and trees and as a means of promoting the amenities of the
a'ea no person shall be allowed to plant any standing tree which produces heavy
foliage without the permission in writing of the Local Authority provided that
nothing herein stated shall apply to flowering or ornamental trees.
12. Financial Provisions. The Scheme shall be financed from the
proceeds of the sale of building lots and from such sums as may be made available
to the Lccal Auth:'iiy fr'om Colony funds.
(2) The Local At.hr-]'i.y -.a-1, .'bj jct t to te provisions of the Small Towns
Regulation Ordinance. Cap 211 of the Laws of St. Vincent as amended by the
Small Towns Regulation (Amendment) Ordinance, No. 20 of 1948, be responsible
for collecting and applying all funds accruing to the Scheme.

Made jointly by the Central Hou.ing and Planning Authority and the Port
Elizabeth Local Authority under the provisions of the Town and Country Planning
Ordinance, No. 2 of 1946 this 25th day of April, 1950.
