BRITISH HONDURAS.

The Honourable
The Colonial Secretary.

General Registry,
Belize, 21st June, 1952.

Sir,

I have the honour to submit the following Report on the Vital Statistics of British Hondu-
ras for the year 1951.
POPULATION

2. The estimated population of the Colony on the 31st December, 1951, was 70,741 con-
sisting of 34,838 males and 35,903 females. This is arrived at by adding to the population as
ascertained at the Census taken on the 9th April, 1946, the number of births registered between
that date and the end of the year under review, and deducting therefrom the total number of
deaths which occurred in the same period; and by adding the excess of immigration over emigra-
tion during the year. The distribution of the population throughout the districts of the Colony,
with the density per square mile is shown in Appendix A.
3. The following table shows the increase of population during the year under review,
classified by districts in order of numerical precedence.
