drawn to the f:ict that blue Jamaican
ten shilling currency notes were
demonetized by the Government of
Jamaica on 1st July, 1951. Purple
ten shilling notes only are therefore
now legal tender in Jamaica and the
Eastern Group of British Caribbean
SColonies.

Authorization by the Governor of the Person for the time being
holding the office of Commissioner of the Virgin lelands to
exercise the functions of the Governor for the purposes of
Article 60 of the Colonial Air Navigation Order, 1955 (S.I.
1955 No. 711).
By His Excellency PATRICK DONALD MACDONALD,
a Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and Saint George, Acting Governor
and Commander in Chief in and over the Colony of
the Leeward Islands and Vice Admiral of the same.

WHEREAS by paragraph (1) of Article 77 of the Colonial Air
Navigation Order, 1955 (S.I. 1955 No. 711) it is provided that the
expression Governor means the officer for the time being adminis-
* tering the Government of the Colony, and includes, in relation to any
Purpose of the said Order, other than the purposes of Article 6; thereof,
any person authorized by the Governor for that purpose, and references
to a person authorized by the Governor include references to the holder
for the time being of any office designated by the Governor:
AND WHEREAS it is expedient that the Commissioner of the
Presidency of the Virgin Islands should be authorized within the said
Presidency to exercise the functions of the Governor for the purposes
of Article 60 of the said Order:
NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers vested in me by
the said Order, I, PATRICK DONALD MACDONALD, a Companion of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Acting
Governor and Commander in Chief in and over the Colony of the
Leeward Islands and Vice Admiral of the same, do hereby authorize the
person for the time being holding the office of Commissioner of the
Presidency of the Virgin Islands within the said Presidency to exercise
the functions of the Governor for the purposes of Article 60 of the said
Order.
GIVEN under my hand at the Government House,
Antigua, this 17th day of November, 1955, and in
the fourth year of Her Majesty's reign.
