New Stamp Issue,

Leeward Islands.

It is hereby notified for general in-
formation that a new main issue of
Leeward Islands postage stamps with
their values expressed in decimal
currency instead of in sterling will he
placed on sale throughout the Colony
on the 22nd February, 1954. The
abovementioned issue contains one
new denomination of 8 ct.

The design of the new stamps con-
sists of a profile portrait of Her
Majesty Queen ELIZABETH II cen-
trally placed and the values and
colours are as follows:-

and file your claims at the office of
the Administrator of Estates at the
Court House in the town of Basseterre

1954, No. 2.
THE BANK HOLIDAYS (OPENING OF SHOPS) ORDER, 1954, DATED
JANUARY 19, 1954, MADE BY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL UNDER
SECTION 11A OF THE BANK HOLIDAYS ACT (CAP. 114) AS
AMENDED.
WHEREAS the Governor with the advice of the Executive
Council of the Leeward Islands, has in pursuance of the powers
vested in him by section 6 of the Bank Holidays Act (Cap. 114)
issued a proclamation appointing Monday the 25th and Tuesday the
26th days of January, 1951, as special days to be reserved as bank
holidays in the Presidency of Antigua:
AND WiHEIREAS by section 11A of the said Act it is provided
that not withstanding any of the provisions thereof, the Governor
with the advice of the Executive Council of any Presidency, may
from time to time, by Order published in the Gazette, permit any
class of shop specified in such Or)der to be kept open on a bank
holiday in such Presidency. or any part thereof for the sale for
consumption on the premises of any article of food or drink, during
such hours and subject to such terms and conditions as may be
prescribed by such Order:
AND WHEREAS the Governor with the advice of the Execu-
tive Council of the Presidency of Antigua deems it expedient that
shops hereinafter referred to should be permitted to be kept open on
the days appointed as Bank Holidays as aforesaid during the hours
menitoned in this Order for the purposes hereinafter mentioned:
NOW, THEREFORE, the Governor with the advice of the
Executive Council of the said Presidency of Antigua is pleased to
order, and it is hereby ordered as follows:-
1. Citation. This Order may be cited as the Bank Holidays
(Opening ,rF Shops) Order, 1951.
2. Opening of Shops. Shpps situate in the City of Saint
John in the Island of Antiguui in which any article of food or drink
is sold by retail may be kept open on Monday the 25th and Tuesday
the 26th days of January, 1954, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. for the sale
for consumption on the premises of such articles'of food and drink.
Made by the governor in .Council this 19th day of January,
1954.
