A PROCLAMATION.

Ki. W. BLACKBURNE,
Governor.

WHEREAS by section 12 of the
Leeward Islands Acts 1871 to 1950,
as amended, it is provided that the
General Legislative Council of the
Leeward Islands may from time to
time be convoked, prorogued, and
dissolved by proclamation:

AND WHEREAS it is expedient
that the said Cmncil should be
dissolved.

NOW. THEREFORE, I do by this
my Proclamation dissolve the said
General Legislative Council.

AND the members of the said
Council and all other Her Majesty's
Officers, Ministers, and loving subjects
in the said Colony and all those
whom it may concern are hereby re-
quired to take due notice hereof and
to give there ready obedience
accordingly.

GIVEN under my hand, at the
Government House, Antigua,
this 1st day of October, 1952, and
in the first year of Her Majesty's
reign.

CIRCUIT COURT NOTICE.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN
that, in pursuance of Rules made by
the Chief Justice under Section 16 of
the Windward Islands and Le, ward
Islands Courts Order in Council, 1939,
on the 24th day of September 1941,
as amended, the Honouraile the
Puisne Judge selected for the sittings
of the Court in Saint Vincent and
Montst rrat Circuits has appointed the
undermentioned day on which the
ensuing Circuit shall sit in the Presi-
dency, that is to say:-
On Tuesday, the 7th October, 1952
at 11.00 o'clock in the forenoon.

Posts of Senior Agricultural
Instructor, Department of
Agriculture-Saint Vincent.
Applications are invited for the two
vacant posts of Sei.ior Agricultural
Instructor, in the Department of
Agriculture, St. Vincent, B.W.I.
2. The salary of the post is in the
scale $1296 x 96 $16,80, the point
in the salary scale at which the suc-
cessful candidates will be paid will
depend on qualifications and experi-
ence. A Cost of Living Allowance at
the prevailing rate ($314 per annum)
is payable, and a travelling allowance
according to the means of transport
approved by the Superintendant of
Agriculture. The posts are not pen-
sionable.
3. The appointment will be for
three years in the first instance, with
a probationary period of one year.
Free passages will be provided for the
officer and his family, up to a total of
four persons, to take up his appoint-
ment in St. Vincent, and at the end of
his contract if satisfactorily concluded.
He will be eligible for one week's
leave for every three months of com-
pleted service.


4. The duties of the post will
include the following:-
Improvement of both large and
small scal- agriculture in a sound
system of land utilization. Paying
particular attention to the education
of agriculturists in better farming
methods, such as the application of
soil conservation measures, the
more appropriate utilization of
livestock in systems of mixed farm-
ing, the use of fertilizers, adoption
of co-operative methods in the
processing and marketing of agri-
cultural products, to undertake the
supervision and guidance of credit
organizations, land settlement and
animal improvement centres, and to
assist in the administration of laws
relating to agriculture, and such
other duties as the officers may from
time to time be called upon to
perform.

5. Applications should be accom-
panied by copies of two (2) recent
testimonials and should be addressed
to the Establishment Officer, Govern-
ment Office, St. Vincent, and should
reach him not later than 30th
September. 1952.

Defence Force Ordinance:
1910.
By virtue of the power and anthori-
ty vested in him by subsection (1) of
section 45 of the Defence Force Ordi-
nance 1910 and of every other power
thereunto him enabling the Governor
directs and authorises that all items of
web equipment previously issued to
personnel of the disbanded Antigua
Defence Force be produced, exhibited
and delivered on or before the 15th
day of October, 1952, to Station
Sergeant TONGE at Police Head-
quarters.
