INCOME TAX NOTICE.


The Income Tax Ordinance No.
7 of 1945, as amended by
Ordinance No. 11 of 1947.

PUBLIC OFFICERS & PENSIONERS.
Any public officer or pensioner
liable to pay income tax whose income
including that of his wife consists
solely of his and/or her emoluments as
a public oilicer or pensioner or other
allowance from public funds, shall
deliver a true and correct return of his
whole income to the Commissioners
not later than the 31st day of January,
1952. (Section 67 and S.R. & O 1946,
No. 13).

OTHER PERSONS.
:very person (including a company)
liable to pay income tax shall deliver
a true and correct return of his whole
income not later than the 31st (lay of
March, 1952. (Section 67 and S.R.
& 0. 1946 No. 13)

AGENTS, TRUSTEES, ETC.
Any person having the direction,
control or management of any prop-
erty or concern, or being in receipt
of income, on behalf of any person,
whether resident or non-resident, as
attorney, factor, agent, trustee, curator
or committee should make and deliver
to the Commissioners a return in
respect of such property, concern or
income not later than the 31st day of
March, 1952. (Sections 28 & 29).

GENERAL.
Any person may be considered to
be liable to pay income tax" if his
income from all sources exceeds one
Shun idred and twelve pounds ($537.60).
All claims for deduction from in-
come tax must be substantiated by the
production of receipts or other bona
flde evidence.

PENALTIES.
Any person liable to pay income tax
w to fails to makel or deliver a return
within the prescribed period shall be
guilty of an offence against this Ordi-
inolce and shall be liable on conviction
to a penalty not exceeding one hun-
drdl pounds, and in default of pay-
ment to imprisonment with or without
hard labour for a term not exceeding
six months. (Section 68).

Any person who makes or delivers a
false return or keeps or prepares any
false accounts or particulars concern-
ing any income on which tax is pay-
able shall be guilty of an offence and
shall be liable on conviction to a fine
of not exceeding five hundred pounds,
or to imprisonment with or without
hard labour for a term not exceeding
six months. (Section 64).

THE LAND ACQUISITION ACT
(NO. 11 OF 1944)

(Section 7)


Notice of Acquisition.

Notice is hereby given that, in
pursuance of the decision of the
Governor-in-Council to acquire com-
pulsorily the lands forming part of
Five Islands Estate situate in the
Parish of Saint John in the Island of
Antigua and more particularly des-
cribed in the Schedule hereto, the
said lands have now been acquired
for public purposes, namely the first
lot of land mentioned in the Schedule
for the extension of the Village of
Five Islands and the second lot of
land mentioned in the said Schedule
for providing a water supply for the
Village of Five Isiands.

A copy of the plans of the said
lands can be inspected at the office of
the Central Housing and Planning
Authority at High Street in the City
of Saint John in the island of
Antigua on any working day between
the hours of 10 a.m. and 12 noon
during the period of forty-two days
from the date of this notice.

All persons interested in the said
lands are required within the said
period of forty-two days either-
(i) to appear personally or by
attorney or agent before the
authorized officer to state the
nature of their respective inter-
ests in the lands and the amounts
and full particulars of their
claims to compensation in re-
spect of those interests, distin-
guishing the amounts under
separate heads and showing how
the amount claimed uml r each
head is calculated; or

(ii) to render to the authlr-ised
officer a statement in writing,
signed by them or by their attor-
neys or agents, setting forth the
like matters.

SCHEDULE.

1. All that lot of land situate to the
North of Five Islands Village of an
approximate area of 2.942 acres and
bounded Northerly by lands of Five
Islands estate in the vicinity of a
pond, North Easterly by the public
road to St. John's, Westerly by lands
of Five Islands Estate and the Village
of Five Islands, and Southerly. South
Easterly and Easterly by the Village
of Five Islands.

2. All that lot of land of a total
area of approximately 1.221 acres,
including a catchment, at the top of
Table Hill (approximately 49,184.29
square feet in area) and a tank site
(approximately 4,000 square feet in
area.)

A.D. 1941, the Honourable the Chief
Justice selected for the sitting of the
Court in the Antigua Circuit has
appointed the day of the month on
which the ensuing Circuit Court shall
sit as follows, that is to say:-
