A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section 7 of the
Bank Holidays Act (Cap. 114) it is
enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor with the advice of the
Executive Council of the Leeward
Islands, from time to time, when it is
made to appear to him in Council, in
any special case, that in any year it is
inexpedient th:lt a day by the said
Aet appointed a bank holiday should
be a bank holiday, to declare that
such day shall not in such year be a
bank holiday, and to appoint such
other day as to him in Council may
seem fit to be a bank holid;iy instead
of such day, ardl that thereupon the
day so appointed shill in such year
be substituted for the day ori-ginally
appointed by the said Act:

AND WHEREAS it is inexpedient
that the celebration of the anniversary
of the birth of Our Sovereign Lord
the King should be observed in this
year on the day appointed by the said
Act.

NOW, THEREFORE, I do hereby,
by and with the advice of the Execu-
tive Council of the Leewari Islands
and in exercise of the powers con-
ferred by the Laid Act, declare that
the day appoint-d by the said Act as
a bank holiday in celebration of the
anniversary of the birth of our
Sovereign Lord the King shall not
in this yeai' be a bank holiday
throughout the Colony and appoint
Thursday the seventh day of June,
1951, as a special day to be reserved
and kept as a bank holiday through-
out the Colony of the Leeward
Islands, instead of such day.
And all His Majesty's loving sub-
jects in the said Colony and all others
whom it may concern are hereby
required to take due notice hereof
and to gihe their ready obedience
accordingly.

GIVEN at the Government House,
Antigua, this 18th day of May,
1951, and in the fifteenth year
of His Majesty's reign.

WHEREAS under section 3 of
the Cotton Protection Ordinance, 1922
(No. 7 of 1922), as amended by the
Cotton Protection Amendment Ordi-
nance, 1926 (No. 5 of 1926), it is
provided that the Governor-in-Council
may from time to tine by Proclama-
tion published in the Gazette declare
any period of each year to be a
close season for cotton and for such
other plants as may be specified in
any such Proclamation either for the
whole Presidency or for such area or
areas thereof as may be specified in
such Proclamation:
NOW THEREFORE I, KENNETH
WILLIAM BLACKBURNE. a Companion
of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and Saint George and
an Officer of the Most Excellent Order
of the British Empire, Governor and
Commander in Chief in and over the
Colony of the Leeward Islands and
Vice Admiral of the same, with the
advice of the Executive Council of
the Presidency of Antig:a, do by this
my Proclamation declare that the
period from the first day of June,
1951 to the third ty-first day of August,
1951. inclusive, shall be a close season
within the meaning of the said Ordi-
nance for the whole Presidency of
Antigua.
And I do hereby order all occupiers
of land, in pursuance of the said
Ordinance, completely to uproot and
burn all cotton and okra plants and
all or any portion of the same grow-
ing or remaining on any such land
occupied by them before the first day
of the said close season.
AND I do further declare that
any person who sows or plants or
causes to be sown or planted any
cotton or okra in any part of the said
Presidency during the said close sea-
son shall be guilty of an offence
under the said Ordinance.

GIVEN at the Government House,
Antigua, this 15th day of May,
1951, in the fifteenth year of His
Majesty's reign.

SUBSCRIPTION RATES

Leeward Islands Gazette.


It is notified for general informa-
tion that, owing to the great increase
in the cost of paper and other printing
materials, it is necessary to increase
the rate of subscription.
The new rates will be as follows:-
$6.00 per annum (British
Commonwealth)
$7.20 per annum (Foreign,
including postage).
Commencing from 1st July, 1951,
the new rates will apply to persons
not listed at present as subscribers,
and from lst January, 1952, the rates
will be applicable to all subscribers.
Subscribers and intending sub-
scribers are directed to note that
subscriptions are payable in advance,
and are therefore requested to pay
the respective amount well in advance
so as to insure despatch to them of
the desired issues.
All amounts should be made pay-
able to:-

The Secretary of State for the Colo-
nies has informed the Governor that
the KING will not be advised to
exercise his power of disallowance of
the following Ordinances:-

St. Kitts-Nevis.
No. 1 of 1951, "The Sandy Point
Limits Ordinance, 1951."

Virgin Islands.
No. 4 of 1950, "The Appropriation
Ordinance, 1950 ".

To all Creditors of the above Estate.

You are hereby notified that you
are to come in and prove your debts
and file your claims at the office of
the Administrator of Estates at the
Court House in the town of Basseterre
in the Island of Saint Christopher
against the said estate.
Creditors resident within the Col-
ony of the Leeward Islands are to file
their claims within four months after
the 4th day of May, 1951.

Colony are to file their claims within
eight months from the said 4th day of

1. Short Title. This Order may b, cited as the Control of Prices (Amendment No. 13)
Order, 1951, and shall be read together with the Control of Prices Order, 1944 (No. 9/1944), as
amended, hereinafter referred to as the Principal Order.
