It is notified for general informa-
tion that the Secretary of State has
approved of a new issue of stamps to
commemorate the restoration of the
Legislative Council of the Presidency
of the Virgin Islands.
2. Four special Presidential stamps
of the values of 6c.. 12c., 24c. and
$1.20 have been selected and the de-
sign of these stamps will comprise a
map of the British Virgin Islands
with the appropriate grid lines being
shown thereon together with the title
"British Virgin Islands" at the top,
the inscription Restoration of the
Legislative Council 1950" in small
lettering at the base, the latest portrait
of His Majesty the King, the Crown,
and the denomination in figures.
3. The stamps will be placed on
sale during the period from the 2nd
April to the 1st July, 1951, or until
stocks are exhausted, whichever date
is earlier, during which period the
current stamps of similar denomina-
tions will be withdrawn from sale.
4. The 12c. stamps in the Legisla-
tive Council commemorative issue
will, however, be used concurrently
in the Presidency of the Virgin Is-
lands with the 12c. stamps in the
special issue commemorating the in-
auguration of the University College of
the West Indies and the installation of
Her Royal Highness Princess ALICE,
Countess of Athlone, as Chancellor,
provided that until the stocks of the
latter are exhausted or are withdrawn
from sale after the 15th May, 1951,
the Legislative Council commemora-
tive issue will be supplied and sold
only on special request.

tion that Mr. R. W. GRIFFITH was
duly elected to be a member of the
Legislative Council of Montserrat at
a by-election held on the 17th Feb-
ruary, 1950, to fill a vacancy caused
by the death of Mr. H. F. Shand.
It is regretted that through in-
advertence, this notice was not pub-
lished at an earlier date.

TENDERS.

Tenders are invited for the entire
quantity of cotton seed (600 tons more
or less) exclusive of seed retained for
planting purposes, which derive from
the crop of seed cotton now being
handled by the Marketing Officer,
Antigua.

Tenders should state clearly wheth-
er the offer is being made ex-ginnery
f.o,.. St. Johns Harbour, or c.i.f. etc.
Other things being equal tenders ex-
ginnery will be preferred.

The successful applicant will be
required to take delivery as soon as
and at the rate at which the seed is
supplied by the Marketing Officer.
Government does not bind itself
to accept the highest or any tender.
Tenders should be addressed to the

in time to reach him on or before
29th March, 1951.

Bonus at the rate of $192 per annum.

Travelling and Subsistence allow-
ances will be paid in accordance with
the rates prescribed by local regula-
tions.

The duties of the post will be such
as are assigned by the Education
Officer, and the holder will be subject
to the Colonial Regulations and such
other local orders as are in force.

The Inspector of Schools will be
required to act as Education Officer
should the necessity arise.

Free passages for the Officer and his
family will be provided in accordance
with the Colonial Regulations (i.e. a
maximum of 5).

of qualifications and experience should
be accompanied by not less than two
testimonials and should be addressed
