information that His Excellency the
Governor has issued a Commission,to
the Hon. P. D. MACDONALD appoint-
ing him to be Governor's 'Deputy
during His Excellency's forthcoming
absence from Antigua, whilst paying
a visit to the Presidency of St. Kitts-
Nevis from the 16th January to the
5th February, 1951.

The Secretary of State for the
Colonies has approved of a grant
under the Colonial Development and
Welfare Act to cover the cost of em-
ploying an Economic and Financial
Adviser by the Leeward Islands Gov-
ernment for a period of three and a
half years, and is looking urgently
into the possibility of finding a suit-
able candidate.

His Honour the Acting Chief Justice

the Antigua Circuit has appointed the
day of the month on which the ensu-

ing Circuit Court shall sit as follows,

STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS.
1951, No. 1.



PRICE OF COTTON SEED FOR PLANTING.


ORDER IN COUNCIL, DATED JANUARY 5, 1951, FIXING THE
BUYING AND SELLING PRICE OF COTTON SEED.



ORDER-IN-COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section 4 (7) of the Cotton Seed Control
Ordinance 1936, No. 11 of 1936, it is provided that the grower
shall be compensated for producing cotton seed at the rate of
one cent p r pound of seed produced, unless this rate is altered
by order of the Governor in Council:

AND WHEREAS by section 4 (8) of the said Ordinance
it is provided that the price of cotton seed for planting sold by
the Agricultural Officer shall be fixed by the Governor in
Council from time to time as occasion may require:

AND WHEREAS it has been found expedient to fix the
compensation to the grower and the price of co:ton seed sold
for planting as aforesaid at the rates and prices hejeinafter
mentioned.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Governor in Council doth
hereby order as follows:-

1. Short Title. This Order may be cited as the
Cotton Seed (Buying and Selling) Price Order, 1951.

2. Prices for Buying and Selling Cotton
Seed. The following are and shall be the rates and prices
to be paid for buying and selling cotton seed:-

(a) Buying price, including bags .. $40.00 per ton

(b) Selling price, including bags,
for quantities of 500 b. or more ... $57.00 per ton

(c) Selling price, for quantities of
less than 500 lb. ... 2 c. per lb.

3. Rescission. The Cotton Seed (Buying and Sell-
ing) Price Order, 1949, (S. It. & 0. 1949, No. 4) is hereby
rescinded.

4. Duration. This Order shall continue in force until
rescinded.

Made by the Governor in Council this 5th day of January,
1951.
