BY VIRTUE of the power and
authority in me vested by the Letters
Patent bearing date at Westminster
the 17th day of November, 1936, as
amended by the Letters Patent of the
28th day of December. 1939, and the
12th day of July, 1943:, I DO by this
Instrument under the Public Seal of
the Colony of the Leeward Islands ap-
point you JOHN CONRAD WOOING,
to be my Deputy within the Leeward
Islands during my absence from
the Island of Antigua on a visit
to one of the other Presidencies
within the Leeward Islands on or
about the 14th day of June, 1950,
and in that capacity during my
pleasure and should the necessity
arise for so doing, to exercise, per-
form and execute on my behalf
throughout the Colony all powers
and authorities by the said Letters
Patent vested in the Governor subject
nevertheless to all such instructions
as the Governor shall from time to
time address to you, the said
JOHN CONRAD WOODING, for your
guidance.
And I do hereby command all and
singular His Majesty's Officers and
loving subjects in the said Col-
ony, and all others whom it may
concern to take due notice hereof, and
to govern themselves accordingly.

Antigua, this 14th day of June,
1950.

tion 13 (1) of the Weights and
Measures Act (Cap. 154) to appoint
the under-mentioned police officers
to be Inspectors of Weights and
Measures for the Presidencies of the
Colony detailed below:-

BYRON for the Presidency of Antigua.
Sergeant-Major SAMUEL MARTIN
for the Presidency of Montserrat.
Assistant-Supt. THOMAS HENRY
KELSICK for the Presidency of St.
Christopher-Nevis.
Any previous appointment made
for the said Presidencies is hereby
revoked.

In the exercise of tLh powers vested
in the Governor-in-Ciuncil by Section
3 of the Cotton Plantirg (Regulation)
Ordinance, 1926, (No. 7 of 192;) I,
WILLIAM ERIC BASSETT, Esquire,
M.B.E., Acting Commissioner of the
Presidency of Montserrat, by and
with the advice of the Executive
Council of the said Presidency, do
hereby declare that the period from
the 1st day of June, 1950, to the 28th
day of February, 1951, both ldys
inclusive, is and shall be a close
planting season within the meaning of
the said Ordinance throughout the
said Presidency and every part thereof
except in the Planting Date Experi-
mental Plot at the Grove Botanic
Station to which this Proclamation
shall not apply.
GIVEN at the Commissioner's Office,
Montserrat, this 25th day of
May, 1950, and in the fourteenth
year of His Majesty's reign.

made according to law of one member

Montserrat on Monday the 3rd day
of July, 1950.

NOTICE OF ELECTION.
The Returning Officer of the Elec-
toral District of the Presidency of
Montserrat will on Wednesday the
21st day of June, 1950, now next
ensiling between the hours of ten
o'clock in the fornoon and four
o'clock in the afternoon proceed to
the nomination, and, if thete is no
opposition to the election of ONE
member for the said electoral district
of the Presidency of Montserrat at the
Registrar's Office, in the Town of
Plymouth in the said Presidency.

Forms of nomination paper may be
obtained at the said Registrar's Office.

Every nomination paper must be
signed by at least two registered voters.

Every nomination paper must be
delivered to the Returning Officer
between the hours of ten o'clock in
the forenoon anu four o'clock in the
afternoon on the said 21st day of
June, 1950, at the said Registrar's
Office.

A deposit of 20 must be made by
or on behalf of the candidate.

In case there :tre more candidates
than one the poll will take place
on Friday the 30th day of June, 1950.
