the Ist July, 1954 Applications for all
the London schools in particular, must be
received by the 1st July, to enable them
to be considered and effective entries

VACANT POST OF DENTAL SURGEON
COLONIAL HOSPITAL, ST. VINCENT

1. APPLICATIONS are invited from suit
ably qualified candidates for appointment
to the post of Dental Surgeon, Colonial
Hospital, St. Vincent.
2. The Salary of the post is in the
scale $3840 x $120 $4800 per annum.
Quarters are not provided.
3. Candidates should possess a Dental
qualification entitling them to practice
dentistry or dental surgery in some part
of Her Majesty's Dominions, or a qualifi-
cation of a foreign country recognized by
the Medical Board.
4. The Dental Surgeon shall furnish
free dental treatment for the poorer
classes, including labourers paupers and
inmates of Government institutions and
to all other persons who are entitled to
free dental treatment at Government
expense.
Provided that such treatment shall
not include the making or supplying of
dental prostheses.
In the case of members of the public,
free treatment shall be provided only at
Government clinics and the dental surgeon
shall attend at such clinics at such times
and such places as the Governor-in-Coun-
cil may from time to time prescribe,
(2) He shall be responsible for the
dental care and treatment of school
children and shall visit and inspect all
schools at least once annually and shall
carry out such treatment as he deems
necessary.
(3) He shall act as adviser to Gov-
ernment in all matters relating to the
dental health and welfare of the Commu-
nity.
(4) He shall perform such other
duties not inconsistent with the above as
the Governor may direct,
5. The appointment is non-pension-
able and the person selected will be sub-
ject to the Colonial Regulations, the
General Orders and Financial Rules of
the Windward Islands and to the various
Ordinances and Subsidiary Legislation in
force in the Colony.
6. The person appointed will be liable
to transfer to a similar post of equivalent
status within the Windward Islands.
7. Applications should be addressed to
the Assistant Administrator and Establish-
ment Officer, Government Office, St.
Vincent, and should reach him not later
than 30th April. 1954. giving details of
the candidate's experience and qualifica-
tions together with copies of testimonials.

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE
BANANA CONSOLIDATION ORDINANCE, 1952.

BE IT ENACTED by the Legislature of Dominica as
follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the
BANANA CONSOLIDATION AMENDMENTN)
ORDINANCE, 1954

and shall be read as one with the Banana Consolidation
Ordinance, 1952 (hereinafter referred to as the prin-
cipal Ordinance).


2. Subsections (1) and (2) of section 22 of the prin-
cipal Ordinance are hereby repealed and in place there-
of the following shall be substituted:-
"22. (1) The Board may, with the approval of the
Governor -
(a) appoint fit and proper persons to be Secre-
tary and Treasurer respectively,
(b) from time to time fix or alter the salaries
to be paid to such officers from the funds
of the Association, and
(c) suspend or dismiss any of the said officers:
Provided that notwithstanding the dissolution
or other determination of the Board, the Secretary
and Treasurer shall continue to hold office until
their employment as such shall be terminated by the
Governor.
(2) The Governor may call upon the Board to
give reasons why any of the said officers should
not be suspended or dismissed, and upon considera-
tion thereof direct the Board to suspend or dismiss
the said officers upon such terms and conditions
as may be deemed fit. In the event of the Board
failing to comply with such direction within three
months or such shorter period as may be set out in
the direction, the Governor may proceed to.suspend
or dismiss the said officer."

The minutes of the meeting held on November 17th, 1953,
having been previously circulated, were taken as read and con-
firmed.
APPLICATION FOR SUPPLEMENTARY GRANT
FOR LIVESTOCK SCHEME 10/53
His Honour proposed the consideration of an application to
the Secretary of State for a supplementary grant of 7,950 (a
memorandum on which had previously been circulated among
members) to allow the Livestock Scheme to be carried on until
August 31st, 1955, pending the availability of further funds un-
der the new (.D. & W. Act expected. Mr Winston contended that
the Government had failed to furnish Members with figures to
justify expenditure under the Special Warrant submitted to a
recent meeting of the Legislative Council. After a full discus-
sion the committee approved the proposal to forward the applica-
tion as presented to them by a vote of 5 to 3, members voting as
follows:-
