APPLICATIONS are invited for the post
of Forest Surveyor in the Department of
Agriculture and Forests, Grenada, B.W.I.
Applicants must possess the certificate
of a recognized Institute of Surveyors or
be licensed to practice surveying in a
British Colony,
The duties of the post entail the survey
and demarcation of boundaries of Forest
Reserves and Protected Forests and gen-
eral internal survey of productive forest
areas. Experience of survey work in
mountainous country is desirable.
The salary of the post is $3,600 per
annum. The appointment is non-pension-
able and is for a period of 2 years in the
first instance.
Local leave and allowances (subsistence
and travelling) are granted in accordance
with local regulations,
Free passages on appointment and on
termination of appointment for the officer
and his family will be provided within the
Caribbean area.
Quarters are not provided.
Applications should convey the follow
ing information :-
(1) Age.
(2) School/schools/Universities attended
and certificates obtained.
(3) Nature of present and past employ-
ment.
(4) Salary or wage earned in last post.
(5) Past experience in work of similar
nature to that required in post for
which application is now being
made.
(6) Copies of testimonials (which will
not be returned to the applicant)
certified by a Justice of Peace,

THE following telegram from the Gov-
ernor of the Windward Islands to the
Governor of Jamaica is published for
general information:--
"On behalf of the peoples and Govern-
ments of Grenada, St. Vincent, St. Lucia
and Dominica and their dependencies I
request that you will convey with my
humble duty to Her Majesty the Queen
an expression of welcome and loyalty o;i
the occasion of her arrival in Jamaica.
It is our earnest wish that the visit of
Her Majesty and His Royal Highness the
Duke of Edinburgh to the West Inclies
will be fall of interest and that they will
ever retain happy memories of their stay
amongst us."

SUGAR
IT has been announced by the Ministry
of Footi that the present arrangement
under which the Ministry supplies the
sugar requirements of sugar importing
Coloni, s will be discontinued as from 1st
January, 1934
The effect of this announcement will be
that as from 1st January, 1954, sugar
importers will be free to import, without
restriction, whatever quantity they may
require
It is anticipated that there will be ample
world supply and that there should be no
difficulty in obtaining all requirements
from sterling sources
Supplies of refined sugar from United
Kingdom will continue to be available
through normal trade channels,

ELIZABETH II. By the Grace of GOD of the United Kingdom of
Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories
Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith,
To all persons claiming an interest in the lands and tenements herein-
after described.
WHEREAS it has been made to appear to Us that the Stonehill Estate
situate in the Parish of St. Joseph in the Island of Dominica, containing 200
acres 1 rood is unoccupied since 1914, and there is no person having title
thereto, whereby the said parcel of land ought to be vested in Us, that
proceedings will be taken to have the said parcel of land vested in Us at a
sitting of the S ipreme Court to be holden at Roseau in the Colony of
Dominica in the month of April, 1954.
All persons claiming an interest in such land, shall within one week
from the date of the last publication of this summons in the Gazette (such
summons shall be published during a period of six months) file on appear-
ance, either in person or by Solicitor in the office of the Registrar, and
shall, within one month from the date of appearance, lodge in the said
office a written claim containing a statement of the reasons on which the
same is founded; and you are hereby further warned that if you fail to
appear at the said Court to be holden as aforesaid the said proceedings will
be heard and taken without you.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, We have caused the Seal of Our said Court
to be hereunto affixed at Roseau this 5th day of June, 1953.

Made by the Governor in Council under Sec-
tion 5(1) of the Dominica Agricultural
Scholarship Ordinance, 1949, (Ordinance
No. 16 of 1949,
