MEDICAL LABORATORY
TECHNICIAN

Following an award for the purpose
of training technicians, the Universi-
ty College of the West Indies invites
applications from senior laboratory
technicians holding a certificate of
the I. M. L. T. (Pathological Tech-
nique) for that purpose.
The period of duty will be two
years at a salary of 750 a year (of
which 5% will be deducted for super-
annuation) and return passages will
be paid for wife and family inclusive.
A marriage allowance of 75 will be
paid if the person appointed is not
less than 25 years of age. There will
be a deduction of 5 per cent of salary
as rent for University accommoda-
tion if this is available; if it is not, a
housing allowance of not more than
200 a year will be made.
Candidates will be expected to com-
mence duties by, or soon after, Octo.
ber 1st, 1953. Applications with
testimonials should be forwarded to
the Dean of the Medical Faculty,

GOVERNMENT has made funds avail-
able to assist farmers to carry out soil
conservation works on their holdings.
The scheme will be restricted to small
farmers only, and..by way of defini-
tion, the term "Soil Conservation"
shall include the, following works:-
Run off drains
Contour drains
Earth bounds

Assistance to farmers will be govern-
ed by the following conditions:-
(a) The farmer must exercise a
fair measure of self help and must in-
itiate conservation works within the
limits of his own resources before
payment of any grant can be made.
(b) Only farmers having farms
able to support a farr.ily, or those hav-
ing farms capable of being rendered
able to do so will be eligible for assist-
ance. In this connection, preference
will be given to farmers in an area
who group themselves together so
that the area can be treated as a whole
and as an economic unit
(c) I1armers must apply for assis-
tance to their District Agricultural In-
structors and will be required to pre-
pare in consultation with the Instruct
or a rough plan of their holding, show-
ing the intended cropping plan and
the proposed rehabilitating soil con-
servation measures, all jointly aimed
at providing for the best use of the
land.
(d) The plan must receive the ap-
proval of the Agricultural Superinten-
dent before the work is started.
(e) Money will only be paid to
farmers whose plans have been ap-
proved by the Agricultural Superin-
tendent and where the work done has
been inspected and certified by the
Agricultural Instructor.
(f) The maximum limit of assist-
ance will be up to $20.00 and the
amount payable will depend on how
the work is done.
(g) Assistance may also be given
in kind, e.g. tools, forks, spades, etc.
or in cash and kind, but in every case
not exceeding the value of $20.00.
Applications for assistance must be
made before the 31st July, 1953.

Dominica Circuit of the Supreme Court of the Windward Is ands and Lee-
ward Islands by Writ of that Court issued and dated the 5th day of June,
1952, whereby it being made to appear to the said Court that Cecilia
Faustin of the Colony of Dominica died on the 14th day of September, 9i51,
seised in her demesne as of fee of a certain piece or portion of land situate
at Hillsborough Street, in the Town of Roseau in the Colony aforesaid. and
money, without heirs inheritable to her, it is claimed that the said lands and
hereditaments should be escheated to the Crown.
All persons claiming title to or in any prop, rto sought to be es -heated
are hereby required within three months after the return of the said Writ

to escheat such p operty, and in default of so do'ng the Crown Attorney
