Honourable N. A JEFFERS three weeks leave of absence as a Member of the
Legislative and Executive Councils with effect from April 25th, 1953.

DOMINICA AGRICULTURAL SCHOLARSHIP

UNDER the provisions of the Dominica Agricultural Scholarship Ordin-
ance 1949 (No. 16 of 1949) applications are invited for the award of the
Dominica Agricultural Scholarship for the year 1953 tenable at the Imperia
College of Tropical Agriculture in Trinidad for a period of three years.
2. Candidates must not be under the age of 17 years or over the age of
22 years on December 31st, 1953. Candidates are required to show that they
have
(a) been educated at a school in this Colony for a period of at least
three years;
(b) been born in this Colony or the child of parents, one of whom was
born in this Colony, or has been ordinarily resident in this Colony
for the five years immediately preceding December 31st, 1953;
(c) obtained the School Certificate of the University of Cambridge
Examinations Syndicate or a certificate of a similar examining
body acceptable to the Selection Committee.
(3) All applications must be accompanied by :-
(i) The candidate's Birth Certificate, or evidence in satisfaction of
qualification (b) above;
(ii) testimonials from two persons (other than the school teachers
. I i / under whom the applicant has received his education);
f (iii) testimonials from the Head Teachers of those schools in the
\) f / Colony which the applicant has attended, giving all significant
detailsof his'ihbool career; "

(iv) A Registered Medical Officer's certificate that the candidate is
in a normal state of health and sufficiently fit and strong to
pursue the proposed course of study.
4. All applications should be addressed to the Government S 'cretary.
Government Office, Roseau, not later than April 30th, 1953, as required by
Section 5 (2).
