MODE OF ADDRESSING JUDGES.

IN view of the varying practice in the
mode of addressing Judges in Colonia
Territories, and in view especially of the
transfers of Judical staff from one terri-
tory to another which take place from
time to time. Colonial Governors and the
Chief Judical Officers in each territory
have been consulted with regard to the
adoption of uniform styles
As a result of replies received, His Ma-
jesty the King has been pleased to ap-
prove a uniform mode of addressing
Judges in Colonial Territories, except
Malta, as follows:-
All Judges will be addressed in Court as
"My Lord" or "Your Lordship" and out
of Court as "The Honourable". In offi-
Scial letters addressed to the Chief Justices
and to the Puisne or Assistant Judges in
L the territory, the designation will be "The
Honourable the Chief Justice" and "The
Honourable Mr. Justice ............."
respectively the letters in all cases be-
ginning "Sir".
The new procedure to be adopted will
bring the practice in Colonies into line
with that in force in the United Kingdom
where Judges are addressed as "The Hon-
ourable."
It will be observed that there is to be
no differentiation between the Chief Jus-
tice and Puisne or Assistant Judges in
Court as a Chief Justice primis inter
pares and although he has onerous
administrative duties, his position on the

Bench is no different from that of the
Puisne Judges It will be noticed, how-
ever, that there is distinction in the
manner of his designation in official letter-
With the Secretary of State's concur-
rence, the Administrator of a Colony will
continue to retain the title of "His
Honour".

AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR THE SPECIAL
COMPUTATION OF THE PENSION WHICH MAY BE
GRANTED TO ELEANOR AUGUSTA BLANCHARD
ON HER RETIREMENT FROM THE PUBLIC SER-
VICE OF THE COLONY.

Be it enacted by the Governor with the advice and
consent of the Legislative Council of Dominica as
follows :-
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the
BLANCHARD PENSION ORDINANCE. 1951.
Short title
2. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary con- Pensionable
