The Secretary of State for the Colonies
has approved a grant of 2,200 from Co-
lonial Development and Welfare funds to
provide for the appointment of a Nutri-
tion Officer for Grenada St. Vincent and
Dominica for a period of two years and
has selected Miss LOUISE, MATHILDA
HORNE, Demonstrator in Dietetics, Trini-
dad, for transfer to the tern orary
The duties of this officer will include
the drawing up of diets, and organising
and supervising the purchase, preparation
and service of meals in Government Insti-
tution; considering school feeding; and
teaching elementary nutrition and cooking
to adult groups such as nurses and
The scheme was prepared in consultation
with Miss IBBERSON. the Social Welfare
Adviser to the Comptroller, Develop-
ment and Welfare Organisation in the
West Indies, and was based on recolm-
mendations made by Miss J. PARRY
Government Nutritionist, Barbados, in
her Report or her visit to Grenada.
Miss HORNE is expected to assume
duty early in May.
