The Veterinary Officer, Windward
Islands is expected to arr-ive in Dominica
on- or about 13th January, 1950. The
duration of his stay in the Colony is not
yet decided.
Stockowners who have animal health
problems, including difficulties connected
with breeding, of-a general nature, that
is to say on a herd or flock scale owing -to
several individuals being-more or lesssimi-
larly affected, are invited to present such
problems.

AN ORDINANCE to provide for the services
of the Colony of Dominica for the year
ending the 31st.December, 1951.
[Gazetted 1950]
BE IT ENACTED by the Governor with the advice and
consent of the Legislative Council of Dominica as follows :-
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Appropriation Short Ti;le
(1951) Ordinance, 1950.
2. There shall be and there is hereby granted to His Appropriation
Majesty the King for and during the period from the 1st January,
1951, to the 31st December, 1951 inclusive, the sum of two
million five hundred aud. ninety-eight thousand nine hundred
and sixty-seven dollars, over and above the sums granted and
provided under the Acts and Ordinances in force in the Colony,
to be applied and expended in the manner and for the services
set forth in the Schedule hereto.
3. The said sum of two million five hundred and ninety-eight Sum charge
thousand nine hundred and.sixty-seven dollars, shall be, and the Revenue
same is hereby declared to be charged upon and made payable
from and out of the General Revenue and other funds of the
said Colony.
4. The Financial Secretary of.the said Colony is hereby Payments how
authorized and required .from time to time, upon the order or
warrant of the Governor, to pay the several sums appropriated by
and in the said Schedule to the several services therein men-
tioned, as the said order or warrant shall direct, out of the
General Revenue and other funds of the said Colony, without
further order or formality,

BE IT ENACTED by the Governor with the advice and
consent of the Legislative Council of Dominica as follows :
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Registration of Births Short Title
and Deaths (Amendment) Ordinance 1950, and shall be read as Ord No 3 of 1916

BE IT ENACTED by the Governor with the advice and
consent of the Legislative Council of Dominica as follows :-
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Road (Amendment) short Title
Ordinance, 1950 and shall be read as one with the Road Ordi-

2. Section one of the principal Ordinance as amended is here- Amendment of

or Colonial Engineer or any Road Engineer or Assistant
Engineer, or Government Officer in Charge of Roads.

into three categories, and the main roads shall be sub-divided
into two grades comprising first grades roads and second-
ary roads respectively, namely :--

(b) Byways (Rough Motor Roads)
(c) Tracks.
Provided that tnis section shall not apply to any road
or street which now is, or hereafter shall be, within the
boundaries of a town or village, where such village has a
"Village Board."

of any road that any existing drain or outlet on adjoining
land should be cleansed, or that any obstruction should l e
removed from any such existing drain or outlet; the Road
Authority may give notice to the owner of such adjoining
land informing him what drains or outlets thereon are
required to be opened or cleansed, or what obstructions are
required to be removed ; and if the owner does not within
twenty-four hours after such notice comply therewith, the
Road Authority may go upon such land and cause the requi-
site drainage work to be proceeded with, and shall recover
the costs and expenses of such drainage work on complaint
before a Magistrate

feet" for the words "ten feet" occurring in the







second line therein ;
(b) by the insertion of the -words verge, footpath,
drain or ditch" between the words "road" and
any occurring in the first line therein ; and
(c) by the deletion of the words within the distance
of six feet from the centre thereof occurring in
second line therein, and the substitution of the
words verge, footpath, drain or ditch ".

STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS.
1950, No. 35.

BANANAS
RULES made by the Board of Management of -the Dominica
Banana Association under authority of Section 22 of the Bana
na Ordinance, 1934. (No. 2 of 1934.)
(Gazetted 11th December, 1950)
1. Short Title. These Rules may be cited as the Banana (Amend-
ment) Rules, 1950, and shall be read as one with the Banana Rules, 1935, as
amended (hereinafter referred to as the Principal Rules.)
2. Amendment of Rule 2. Paragraph (1) of Rule-2 of the
principal Rules is hereby amended --
(a) by substituting for the words ten shillings the. words "one
dollar and twenty cents and
(b) by substituting for the figures "2/6" the words "sixty cents.

3. Amendment of Rule 9. Rule 9 of the principal Rules is
hereby amended by the insertion of the words or any other place authorised
by the Board after the word Dominica occurring therein.
4. Revocation & Replacement of Rule 13. Rule 13 of
the principal Rules is thereby revoke and the following 'substituted
therefore --
13. Levy'on Bananas. A levy of fifty cents per 100 lb.
of bananas delivered to the Association for the purpose ef
exportation outside the Caribbean Area shall be imposed
and subject to the provisions of Section 25 of the Banana
Ordinance 1935 shall be appropriated in the following
manner:-
(a) 50 per cent thereof for defraying the working
expenses of the Association.
and (b) 50 per cent thereof for meeting the cost of combat.

5. Revocation. Rule'23 of the principal Rules is hereby revoked.
-6. Amendment of Rules 25, 26, 27 and 28. Rules 25,
26, 27 and 28 of the principal Rules are hereby amended by the substitution
of the word Treasurer for the word Secretary wherever that word
occurs.
7. Amendment of Rule 27. Rule 27 of the principal Rules
shall have effect as if for the words Auditor of the Leeward Islands there
were substituted the words Auditor'ofthe Windward Islands ".
