A PROCLAMATION

Whereas by section 29 (1) of the Constitution of
Barbados it is provided that whenever the office of
Governor=General is vacant or the holder of the office
is absent from Barbados or is for any other reason
unable to perform the functions of his office, those
functions shall beperformed -
(a) by any person for the time being designated
by Her Majesty in that behalf who is in Bar-
bados and able to perform those functions;
or
(b) at any time when there is no person in Barba-
dos so designated and able to perform those
functions, by the holder of the office of Chief
A aJustice:

And Whereas no person in Barbados has been
J f designated by Her Majesty to perform, the functions of
the officeof Governor-General:

Now Therefore, I, Sir WILLIAM RANDOLPH
DOUGLAS, Knight Bachelor, Chief Justice, do hereby
publish, proclaim and make known that I have taken
the necessary oaths and have assumed the full burden
of administering the Government of Barbados and of
doing and executing all things that belong to the
office of Governor-General thereof during Her
Majesty's pleasure according to the tenor of the said
Constitution of Barbados constituting the office of
Governor-General, and according to the laws for the
time being in force within Barbados.

Given under my hand and
the Public Seal of Barbados
this third day of June, 1969
and in the Eighteenth Year
of Her Majesty's Reign.
