THE ACQUISITION OF LAND ACT (Chapter 254)
AND
THE ACQUISITION OF LAND (SPECIAL APPLICATION)
ACT 1957
(No. 21 of 1957)
WHEREAS by Notice No. 67 dated the 23rd day of March,
1963, and published in the Official Gazette dated the 23rd day of
March, 1963, the Governor in Council declared that it was his
intention to acquire the land described in the Schedule hereto
AND WHEREAS His Excellency the Governor is of the opin-
ion that possession of the selected land should be obtained by
the Governor in Council before payment is made to the rightful
claimant to the property described in the Schedule hereto
NOW THEREFORE it is hereby declared that the selected
land has been appropriated by the Governor in Council for the
purpose mentioned in the said notice with effect from the date of
this Notice.
Ordered in Council the 30th day of March, A.D., 1963.

SCHEDULE
All that certain tract or parcel of land situated in the area
between Barkers Point and Grahams Haabour, on the northern
coast of the Island of San Salvador, Colony of the Bahamas, as
outlined on Corps of Engineers, U. S. Army map designated
Drawing No. RE-2880 and on file at the Corps of Engineers Dis-
trict Office, Jacksonville, Florida, U. S. A., which said map by this
reference is made a part hereof, and more particularly described
as follows:
From U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey Station "WEEL"
situated on northern coast of Island of San Salvador at Latitude
24 degrees 06 minutes 56.6483 seconds North, Longitude 74 de-
grees 29 minutes 22.2075 seconds West, go thence South 44 de-
grees 05 minutes 13 seconds East, 183.41 feet to a brass disc set
in concrete on the northern boundary of the Main Public Road
which is the point of beginning of Tract No. SS-524 being describ-
ed herein;
From this point of beginning the boundaries of said Tract No.
SS-524 extend thence through land said to be in possession of
Frederick Zissu on the following three (3) courses;
North 3 degrees 07 minutes 21 seconds West, 250.00 feet to
a brass disc set in concrete;
Thence South 80 degrees 09 minutes 03 seconds East, 205.23
feet to a brass disc set in concrete;
Thence South 3 degrees 07 minutes 52 seconds East, 204.00
feet to a brass disc set in concrete on the northern boundary of
the said Main Public Road;
Thence along a portion of the northern boundary of the said
Main Public Road South 86 degrees 52 minutes 32 seconds West,
200.00 feet back to the point of beginning; which said tract or
parcel of land herein described and known as Tract No. SS-524
contains 1.04 acres, more or less.

A. Application should be made to the Governor in Council
through this Department stating full particulars, the pur-
pose for which imported and a complete list of equip-
ment with values.
B. A written assurance with sufficient corroborating details
that the possibility of local hiring had been unsuccessful.
C. Applicant must await the decision of the Governor in
Council before importing of articles.
D. If approval be given applicant must enter into a bond
as required by the Paragraph quoted.
2. Should equipment and articles be imported contrary to
the above requirements, the consignee will be liable for the full
amount of duty based on the C.I.F. valuation.
3. Eleven copies are required describing the article or
equipment when applying for the importation of goods for tem-
porary purposes.

THE ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 1958
In exercise of the powers conferred upon them by the Road
Traffic Act 1958 the Road Traffic Authority with the approval of
the Governor in Council hereby make the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic
Amendment Regulations 1963 and shall be read as one with the
Road Traffic Regulations 1959 (hereinafter referred to as the prin-
cipal Regulations).

2. Regulation 7 of the principal Regulations is hereby amen-
ded by deleting the words "pointing it towards the ground" an-
pearing in the second line of paragraph (1) (a) (i) and paragraph
(1) (b) (i) thereof and substituting therefore the words "and make
an un and down motion with the forearm and hand".
3. Regulation 10 of the principal Regulations is hereby
amended as follows:
(a) by deleting the semicolon appearing at the end
of paragraph (c) thereof and substituting therefore
a fullstop; and
(b) by deleting therefrom paragraph (d).

REGULATIONS
Made Under
THE ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 1958
WHEREAS Bahamas Construction Equipment Limited (here-
inafter referred to as the "Company") has contracted inter alia
to construct, and repair certain roads in New Providence
AND WHEREAS it is felt necessary for ensuring the safety
of the workmen employed by the Company that a speed limit
as hereinafter specified should be imposed
NOW THEREFORE in exercise of the powers conferred
upon them by the Road Traffic Act 1958 the Road Traffic Authority
with the approval of the Governor in Council hereby make the
following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Speed Limit
(Temporary Road Construction) Regulations 1963.

2. (1) Not withstanding the provisions relating to speed
limits contained in the Motor Vehicle and Speed Limit Regula-
tions 1959-60, the speed limit for all motor vehicles, over those
portions of road under construction or repair by the company and
for a distance of one thousand feet in either direction of the said
portions of road, shall be TEN MILES PER HOUR.
(2) The Controller of Road Traffic shall cause to be placed
at appropriate points along roads under construction or repair by
the Company traffic signs indicating the speed limit imposed by
paragraph (1) of this regulation.
3. The provisions of regulation 2 of these Regulations shall
remain in force so long as the Company shall be engaged in con-
structing or repairing roads in New Providence as aforesaid.

annum together with a gratuity of Four Thousand Six Hundred
and Twenty-five Pounds (4,625.0.0) is hereby granted to Augus-
tus Roberts as from the 2nd April, 1962.
3. The pension and gratuity granted by this Order shall be
in satisfaction of and in substitution for any right, title, interest or
claim to or in in any pension or gratuity which he now has or
may have under any other Act.
