WHEREAS by Notice No. 15 dated the 12th January, 1963
and published in the Official Gazette dated the 12th January,
1963, the Governor in Council declared that it was his intention
to acquire the land described in the Schedule hereto
AND WHEREAS his Excellency the Governor is of the
opinion that it is necessary that possession of the selected land
should be obtained by the Governor in Council before payment
is made to rightful claimants to the property described in the
Schedule hereto
NOW THEREFORE, it is hereby notified that the selected
land has been appropriated by the Governor in Council for the
purposes mentioned in the said notice with effect from the date
of this notice.

To avoid inconvenience and the possibility of paying full
duty on equipment and other articles imported for some tem-
porary purpose under paragraph 5 of the Fourth Schedule to the
Tariff Act, the following requirements, which will be rigidly en-
forced are published for your information:
(a) Application should be made to the Governor In Council
through this Department stating full particulars, the
purpose for which imported and a complete list of equip-
ment with values.
(b) A written assurance with sufficient corroborating details
that the possibility of local hiring had been unsuccessful.
(c) Applicant must await the decision of the Governor in
Council before importing equipment or articles.
kd) If approval be given applicant must enter into a bond
as required by the paragraph quoted.
2. Should equipment and articles be imported contrary to
the above requirements, the consignee will be liable for the full
amount of duty based on the C.I.F. Valuation.
3 Eleven copies are required describing the article or equip
ment when applying for the unportation of goods for temporary
purposes

THE EXCHANGE CONTROL REGULATIONS, 1956
In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by Regula-
tions 22 and 31 of the Exchange Control Regulations 1956, the
Controller of Exchange hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Bahamas Exchange Con-
trol (No. 1) Order 1963 (Import and Export) and shall be read
as one with the Bahamas Exchange Control Order No. 6 1956
(Import and Export) as amended from time to time (hereinafter
referred to as the principal Order).

2. The principal Order is hereby amended by deleting sub-
paragraph (a) of paragraph 3(1) and substituting therefore the
following:
"(a) by any traveller on his person or in his baggage if he
is about to leave the Colony for any other destination,
of notes which are or have at any time been legal
tender in the United Kingdom or any part of the
United Kingdom not exceeding 50 sterling in value
and in addition thereto of notes which have at any
time been legal tender in any other territory not
exceeding 250 in value, provided that,".
3. This Order shall come into force on the 1st day of
February A.D., 1963.

THE EXCHANGE CONTROL REGULATIONS, 1956
In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by Regulations
5, 23 and 31 of the Exchange Control Regulations 1956, the Con-
troller of Exchange hereby orders as follows:
.1. This Order may be cited as the Bahamas Exchange Con-
trol (No. 3) Order 1963. (Payments)
2. There shall be exempted from the provisions of Regula-
tion 5 of the Exchange Control Regulations 1956 any payment
made in cash in the Colony to a person resident outside the
Scheduled Territories-
(1) by a person resident outside the Scheduled Territories
if the payment is made out of:-
(a) any notes of a class which are or have at any time
been legal tender in the Colony, or
(b) any moneys withdrawn from an account of that
person, or
(c) any moneys arising from the sale of gold or foreign
currency by that person to an authorised dealer, or
(d) any foreign currency provided that the payment is
not made as consideration for or in association with
the receipt by any person of sterling, or other
Scheduled Territory currency;
(2) by a person resident in the Scheduled Territories if that
payment-
(a) does not exceed 10 sterling in value, and
(b) does not form part of a transaction or series of trans-
actions wherein the aggregate value of the payments
exceeds 10 sterling in value;
(3) by a banker in the Colony acting in the course of his
business if that payment-









(a) is made from moneys standing to the credit of an
account in favour of that person with that banker,
or .
(b) is in respect of the encashment by that person of a
travellers' cheque or letter of credit in favour of that
.person.
3. (1) Regulation 23 of the Exchange Control Regulations
1956 shall apply to territories outside the Scheduled Territories.
(2) The prescribed manner of payment shall be pay-
ment in any specified currency or payment in sterling from an
account of a person resident outside the Scheduled Territories.
4. In this Order "account" means a sterling or other
Scheduled Territory currency account with a banker in the
Colony.
5. The Bahamas Exchange Control (No. 11) Order 1956
(Payments) dated the 22nd day of September 1956 is hereby
revoked.
6. This Order shall come into force on the 1st day of
February, A.D., 1963.
