THE ACQUISITION OF LAND ACT
(Chapter 254)
WHEREAS by Notice No. 205 dated the 15th September,
1962 and published in the Official Gazette dated the 15th Sep-
tember, 1962, the Governor in Council declared that it was his
intention on behalf of the Promoters, The Airports Board, to
acquire the land described in the Schedule hereto
AND WHEREAS His Excellency the Governor is of the
opinion that it is necessary that possession of the selected land
should be obtained by the Promoters before payment is made to
rightful claimants to the property described in the Schedule
hereto
NOW THEREFORE it is hereby notified that the selected
land has been appropriated by the Promoters mentioned in the
said notice with effect from the date of this notice

WHEREAS it appears to His Excellency the Governor in
Council that the land described in the Schedule hereto is required
for a public purpose

NOW THEREFORE it is hereby notified that it is the in-
tention of His Excellency the Governor in Council to acquire the
said land for a public purpose to wit: for the purpose of imple-
menting the Agreement made with the concurrence of the Gov-
ernment of the Bahama Islands between the Government of the
United Kingdom and Northern Ireland and the Government of
the United States of America concerning a Long Range Proving
Ground for Guided Missiles to be known as "The Bahamas Long
Range Proving Ground"
All persons interested in the said land shall within 30 days
of the publication of this notice state in writing to the Colonial
Secretary of the Colony the nature of their respective interests
in the said land and the amount and particulars of their claim
to compensation for such interests.

All that certain tract or parcel of land situated on the Island
known as Big Carter Cay, Colony of the Bahamas, as outlined
on Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army Map, designated Drawing No.
RE-2766 and on file at Corps of Engineers District Office, Jack-
sonville, Florida, U.S.A. which said map by this reference is made
a part hereof, and more particularly described as follows:
Right-of-way 25 feet in width and being 12.5 feet each side
of and contiguous to the following described centre line:
From the point of beginning described in Tract BC-100 and
marked by a brass disc set in concrete; go thence along a portion
of the eastern boundary of said Tract BC-100, South 080 41' 45"
West, 27.38 feet to an iron rod set in concrete and the point of
beginning of said Tract BC-101E being herein described:
From this point of beginning, the centre line of Tract
BC-101E extends South 510 17' 05" East, 358.80 feet to an iron
rod set in concrete; thence South 750 42' 45" East, 129.80 feet to
an iron rod set in concrete; thence South 580 40' 35" East, 394.53
feet to an iron rod set in concrete; thence South 72 38' 55" East,
180.46 feet to an iron rod set in concrete; thence North 650 07' 45"
East, 351.68 feet to an iron rod set in concrete; thence North 590

It is hereby notified that copies of the Colonial Air Naviga-
tion (Amendment) Order 1962, which came into operation on the
9th December, 1962, may be purchased at the Secretariat.
2. This Order amends the Colonial Air Navigation Order
1961 by inserting in the definition of the Commonwealth an ex-
press reference to Tanganyika.

Made Under
THE BAHAMAS SPORTS COMMISSION ACT, 1962.
(No. 18 of 1962)
In exercise of the powers conferred upon the Bahamas Sports
Commission by section 14 of the Bahamas Sports Commission
Act, 1962 the following Rules with the approval of the Governor
S in Council are hereby made:-

Short Title
1. These Rules may be cited as the Bahamas Sports Com-
mission (Advisory Councils) Rules, 1963.
Interpretation
2. In these Rules:-
"Commission" means the Bahamas Sports Com-
mission appointed under the Bahamas Sports
Commission Act, 1962.
"Council" means an advisory council appointed
under rule 3 of these Rules.
Power to Appoint Councils
3. (1) The Commission may appoint such advisory councils
as it deems fit to advise it with regard to any particular sport or
recreation.
(2) A council shall consist of not less than three persons
one of whom the Commission shall appoint to be Chairman there-
of
Period of Appointment
4. The period for which a council may be appointed shall
be such as the Commission deems necessary but shall in no case
be for more than twelve months at one time.
5. (1) A quorum at all meetings of a council shall be three
members.
(2) All questions coming or arising before a meeting of
a council shall be decided by a majority of the members present
and voting thereon at the meeting and in the case of an equality
of votes the person presiding shall have a second or casting vote.
(3) Subject as aforesaid a council shall govern its own
procedure.
