SIn exercise of the powers conferred upon him by Regulation
3 of the Street Nuisance Prohibition Regulations, 1928, His Ex-
cellency .the Governor hereby directs that those Regulations
should not apply during the hours from 4.00 a.m. to 9.00 afi.. on
W~ nesday, 26th December, 1962 and Tuesday, 1st January, 1963.
No person will be allowed to take part in the Junkanoo
Parades, held in that portion of Bay Street which is closed to
vehicular traffic, unless such person is in uniform or costume of
a type associated with Junkanoo Parades. It is also notified that
the wearing of decorative headgear and a mask only will not be
deemed to constitute either a uniform or a costume.

THE ACQUISITION OF LAND ACT
(Ch. 254)
WHEREAS it appears to His Excellency the Governor in
Council that the land described in the Schedule hereto is required
for a public purpose
NOW THEREFORE it is hereby notified that it is the in-
tention of His Excellency the Governor in Council on behalf of
the. Promoters, the Public Board of Works for Marsh Harbour,
Abaco, to acquire the said land for a public purpose to wit: for
the purpose of constructing a public road between the Marsh
Harbour and Green Turtle Cay Airports at Abaco
ALL persons interested in the said land shall within 30 days
of the publication of this notice state in writing to the Colonial
Secretary of the Colony the nature of their respective interests in
the said land and the amount anid particulars of their claim to
compensation for such interests.

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council
Her Majesty, by virtue and in exercise of the power vested in
Her by section 56 of the Administration of Justice Act 1956(a)
and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased,
bv and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it
is hereby ordered, as follows:-

and 1.-(1) This Order may be cited as the Admiralty Jurisdiction
e- (Bahama Islands) Order in Council 1962.


(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 25th October
1962.
"2. The Colonial Courts of Admiralty Act 1890(b), shall, in
relation to the Supreme Court of the Bahama Islands have effect
as if for the reference in section 2 (2) thereof to the Admiralty
jurisdiction of the High Court in England there were substituted
a reference to the Admiralty jurisdiction of that court as defined
by section 1 of the Administration of Justice Act 1956 subject
to the adaptation and modification of the said section 1 that is
specified in schedule 1 to this Order.
3. The provisions of sections 3, 4, 6, 7 and 8 of Part I of the
Administration of Justice Act 1956 shall extend to the Bahama
Islands with the adaptations and modifications that are specified
in Column II of schedule 2 to this Order.

ADAPTATION AND MODIFICATION OF SECTION 1 OF THE
ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE ACT 1956
In subsection (1) the words "and any other jurisdiction con-
nected with ships and aircraft vested in the High Court apart
from this section which is for the time being assigned by rules
of court to the Probate, Divorce and Admiralty Division" shall

bour in the Bahama
Islands.";








In subsection (2) the words "in
England and Wales" shall be
deleted and the words "in the
Bahama Islands" shall be sub-

side England and Wales" shall

shall be substituted;

Merchant Shipping Act
1894(a) (which relates to the

Act affects the provisions of
section 552 of the Merchant
Shipping Act 1894 (which re-
lates to the power of a re-
ceiver of wreck to detain a
ship in respect of a salvage
claim";
Subsection (2) shall be omitted.








EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This Note is not part of the Order, but is intended to indicate
its general purport.)
This Order provides that the Supreme Court of the Bahama
Islands, which is a Colonial Court of Admiralty, shall have the
Admiralty jurisdiction of the High Court of England, as defined
in section 1 of the Administration of Justice Act 1956, with cer-
tain modifications. It also extends certain of the provisions con-
tained in Part 1 of that Act to the Bahama Islands.
