REAL PROPERTY TAX
Notice is hereby given that Real Property Tax in respect of
the Quarter ended 31st December, 1961, became due on 31st
October, 1961, and for the Quarter ending 31st March, 1962, on
the 31st January, 1962.
Property Owners who are still in arrears in respect of the
year ended 31st December, 1961, and the Quarter ending 31st
March, 1962, are reminded of the provisions of Section 14(a) of
The Real Property Tax Act, Chapter 307 RL which require the
Treasurer to take action in respect of any amount in arrears for
more than 30 days.
Persons against whom judgements for arrears have already
been obtained are hereby warned that application will be made
for Writs of Execution for recovery of the tax and, if necessary,
these will be filed in the Supreme Court for recovery against the
property concerned.

THE ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 1958
In exercise of the powers conferred upon them by the Road
Traffic Act 1958 the Road Traffic Authority with the approval of
the Governor in Council hereby make the following Regulations:
O.G. 1959 p. 587.
1. These Regulations may be cited as The Road Traffic
Amendment Regulations 1962 and shall be read as one with the
SRoad Traffic Regulations 1959 as amended from time to time (here-
inafter referred to as the principal Regulations).

2. Regulation 8 of the principal Regulations is hereby
amended by deleting the full stop at the end of sub-paragraph
(e) of paragraph (12) thereof and substituting therefore a semi-colon
and by adding thereafter the following as sub-paragraph (f):
"(f) spaces on the eastern side of Elizabeth Avenue in
front of the Out Patients section of the Princess Mar-
garet Hospital for the parking of ambulances of the
said Hospital."

ing Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Customs Duties
(Card-board boxes and other containers of paper, etc.)
Order, 1962.
2. The First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act
1921 is hereby amended by deleting therefrom Items
642-01.2 and 642-01.3 and all the words and figures
appearing opposite thereto in the columns respectively
headed "Item", "Unit" and "Rate of Duty" and by
substituting therefore the items listed in the Schedule
to this Order and the words and figures appearing op-
posite thereto in the said Schedule.

The Customs Tariff Act, 1921
ORDER MADE UNDER SECTION FOUR OF THE
CUSTOMS TARIFF ACT, 1921

The Governor-in-Executive Committee in ex-
ercise of the powers conferred on him by section
four of the Customs Tariff Act, 1921, hereby makes
the following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Customs
Duties (Raw Materials for use in the manufacture of
Lead-acid Accumulators Batteries) Order, 1962.
2. The Second Schedule to the Customs Tariff
Act, 1921, is hereby amended by inserting therein
immediately after the paragraph beginning with the
words "Materials, including packaging materials"
and ending with the words "Customs Duties (Raw
Materials for the Manufacture of Hats, Caps and other
Headgear) Order, 1961" the following new paragraph:-
"Materials, other than such materials as
the Governor-in-Executive Committee may for
the purposes of this paragraph declare by
notice published in the Official Gazette to
be obtainable in the Island, which are proved
to the satisfaction of the Comptroller of Cus-
toms to have been imported by or on behalf
of a person or company in this Island engaged
in the manufacture of lead-acid accumulators
batteries in a factory employing not less
than six persons, on the certificate of such
person, or in the case of a company, on the
certificate of the secretary of such company,
that such materials are imported for use ex-

clusively in the manufacture of lead-acid
accumulators-batteries within such factory,
subject to and in accordance with the condi-
tions specified in the Customs Duties (Materials
for the Manufacture of Lead-acid Accumula-
tors Batteries) Order, 1962."
3. Any manufacturer who imports, or on whose
behalf there is imported into this Island any of the
items inserted in the Second Schedule of the Customs
Tariff Act, 1921 by Article 2 of this Order, shall
comply with the following conditions:-
(i) he shall keep stock and manufacturing accounts
and other records in such manner as the Comp-
troller of Customs may require;
(ii) such accounts and records shall be open at
all reasonable times to inspection by the
Comptroller or any officer authorised by him;

(iii) he shall, at the end of each calendar year,
submit to the Comptroller a statement setting
out such particulars as the Comptroller shall
require including the quantity and description
of every kind of article manufactured and
packaged and the amount and duty value of
any of the abovementioned items used in the
manufacture and packaging thereof.
4. Any person who makes or causes to be made
any false entry in any account, record or statement
required under the provisions of Article 3 of this
Order shall be liable on conviction by a court of
summary jurisdiction to a fine not exceeding one
hundred and twenty dollars or to imprisonment for
a term not exceeding three months, or to both such
fine and imprisonment.

5. Where any manufacturer in the opinion of the
Governor-in-Executive Committee fails to comply
with any of the conditions of this Order, the Governor-
in-Executive Committee may suspend, for such period
as he thinks fit, the right of such manufacturer to
import duty free any of the items specified in this
Order.
6. Any item inserted in the Second Schedule of
the Customs Tariff Act, 1921 by Article 2 of this
Order which has not been used within a period of two
years from the date of importation, or within such
further period as the Comptroller may allow, for the
purposes by virtue of which it was imported duty free
under the provisions of this Order shall, except wh en
such item shall have been exported with the per-
mission of the Comptroller, thereupon become liable
to the appropriate rate of duty payable under section
two of the Customs Tariff Act, 1921 in respect of a
similar item not subject to the provisions of this Order.

DECLARATION OF PIONEER MANUFACTURER
(TROPICAL BATTERY COMPANY LIMITED) (MANU-
FACTURE OF LEAD-ACID ACCUMULATORS-
BATTERIES) ORDER, 1962

The Governor-in-Executive Committee, in exer-
cise of the powers conferred on him by section 8 of
the Pioneer Industries Act, 1958, hereby makes the
following Order:-
1. This Order may be cited as the Declaration
of Pioneer Manufacturer (Tropical Battery Company
Limited) (Manufacture of lead-acid Accumulators -
Batteries) Order, 1962.
2. Tropical Battery Company Limited, a company
registered under the Companies Act, 1910, is hereby
declared to be a pioneer manufacturer for the pur-
poses of the Pioneer Industries Act, 1958, in relation
to its factory situated at Grazettes Industrial Estate
in the parish of St. Michael and to the manufacture in
the Island of lead-acid accumulators batteries (by
the Pioneer Industry (Manufacture of Lead-acid
Accumulators Patteries) Order, 1961 declared to
be a pioneer industry).
3. (i) The construction day shall be the 19th
day of January, 1962.
(ii) The production day shall be the 19th day
of March, 1962.

An Act to enable effect to be given to an
International Convention for the suppression of
Counterfeiting Currency, signed on behalf of His
Majesty at Geneva on the twentieth day of April,
nineteen hundred and twenty-nine, to apply to foreign
coin certain enactments relating to British Coin, and
to assimilate the penalties for importing counterfeit
coin. (12th February, 1962)

BE IT ENACTED by the Governor, Council
and Assembly of this Island, and by the authority of
the same as follows':-

1. This Act may be cited as the Counterfeit
Currency (Convention) Act, 1962.

COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY (CONVENTION) ACT, 1962-1


Forgery of 2. (1) Currency notes issued by or on behalf of
Currency notes. the Government of any country shall be deemed to be
Act 1868-3. bank notes for the purposes of the Forgery Act,
1868, and this \ct.
(2) In this section the expression "currency
notes" includes any notes (by whatever name called)
which are legal tender in the country in which they
are issued.

Search Warrants. 1. (1) If it shall bemade to appearby information
on oath before a magistrate that there is reasonable
cause to believe that any person has in his custody
or possession without lawful authority or excuse -

(a) any bank note; or

(b) any implement for making paper or
imitation of the paper used for bank
notes; or

(c) any material having thereon any
words, forms, devices, or characters
capable of producing or intended to
produce the impression of a bank note;
or

(d) any forged document, seal or die; or

(e) any machinery, implement, utensil,
or material used or intended to be
used for the forgery of any document;
the magistrate may grant a warrant to search for the
same; and if the same shall be found on search,it
shall be lawful to seize it and carry it before the
magistrate to be by him disposed of according to law.

(2) Every document, seal or die lawfully
seized under such warrant shall be defaced or des-
troyed or otherwise disposed of -

(a) by order of the court before which the
offender is tried; or

(b) if there be no trial, by order of a
magistrate; or

(c) if it affects public revenue, by the
Commissioner of Inland Revenue or
the Comptroller of Customs as the
case may require.

4. Where any forged bank note, or any Disposal of
forged bank
machinery, implement, utensil or material used or notes and
intended to be used for the forgery of a bank note, pla"n ued

whereof resembles in whole or in
part any words, figures, letters,
marks, lines, or other devices
peculiar to and used in or on any
bank note;
(c) uses or knowingly has in his custody
or possession any plate, wood,
stone, or other material, upon which
any such words, figures, letters,
marks, lines or devices have been
engraved or in anywise made as afore-
said;
(d) uses or knowingly has in his custody
or possession any paper upon which
any such words, figures, letters,
marks, lines or devices have been
printed or in anywise made as afore-
said.

Section 6.

Amendments of the Coinage (Offences) Act, 1868

Section Amendments
2 The words "the King's" and "of the King's"
wherever they occur shall be repealed;
After the word "otherwise" there shall be in-
serted the words "or lawfully current in any
foreign country"; for the words "any copper
coin and any coin of bronze or mixed metal"
there shall be substituted the words "any coin
of any metal or mixed metal (not being a gold or
silver coin)"; for the words "and whether made
of gold, silver, copper, bronze, or mixed metal"
there shall be substituted the words "or law-
fully current in any foreign country".

3 and 4 the words "of the King's" wherever they occur
shall be repealed.

5 the words "of the King's" and "the King's"
shall be repealed.

6, 7, 8, 8, 10, 11, 13, The words "of the King's" wherever they occur
14, 15 and 16 shall be repealed.

24. The words "of the King's" and the words "or of
any coin of any foreign prince, State, or country"
shall be repealed.

25. The words "the King's" shall be repealed.

26. The following words shall be repealed that is to
say the words "of the King's" in both places
where they occur; the words "or any coin of any
