sition of Land Act, Chapter 254, is published for general in-
formation.

NOTICE OF POSSESSION
Given Under
THE ACQUISITION OF LAND ACT
Chapter 254.
WHEREAS by Notice No. 242 dated the 22nd October, 1960,
and published in the Official Gazette dated the 22nd October,
1960, the Governor in Council declared that it was his intention
on behalf of the Promoters, the Board of Education to acquire
all the land described in the Schedule hereto
AND WHEREAS His Excellency the Governor is of the
opinion that it is necessary that the possession of the selected
land should be obtained by the Promoters before payment is made
to the rightful claimants to the property described in the Schedule
hereto
NOW THEREFORE it is hereby notified that the selected
land has been appropriated by the Promoters for the purposes
mentioned in the said notice with effect from fhe date of this
notice.

proved the observance of Her birthday on Saturday the 10th June
this year, and that that day will be observed as a Public Holiday
in accordance with Section 3 of the Public Holidays Act (Chapter
270).

Qualifications:- Degree in Science or Engineering
of a Commonwealth University; experience in

Duties:- To assist the Principal in the organization

in his own subjectss; to instruct as required.
Salary:- 1,820 plus temporary allowance of 2%
salary.

(ii) Science Master:-
Qualifications:- Degree in Science of a Common-
wealth University; Teacher's Certificate and/or
teaching experience desirable.
Duties:- To teach science and mathematics at the
Technical School.
Salary:- 1,650 p.a. plus temporary allowance of
2% of salary.
Quarters:- Quarters or rent allowance are not pro-
vided.
(iii) Technical Instructor (1):-
Qualifications:- Higher National Certificate in
Electrical Engineering or City and Guilds Tech-
nological Certificate in Electrical Engineering.
Ability to teach motor vehicle electrician course
(C and G. course 169) would be an advantage.
Good workshop training essential, together with
two years industrial or teaching experience.
Duties:- To instruct in electrical engineering and
associated subjects in classroom and workshop.
Salary:- 1,550 x 100 to 1,750.

IMPORTATION FOR SOME TEMPORARY PURPOSE
UNDER PARAGRAPH 5 OF THE 4TH SCHEDULE
TO THE TAFIFF ACT
1. To avoid inconvenience and the possibility of paying full
duty on equipment and other articles imported for some tem-
porary purpose under paragraph 5 of the Fourth Schedule to the
Tariff Act, the following requirements, which will be rigidly
enforced, are published for your information:

a. Application should be made to the Governor in Council
through this department stating full particulars, the pur-
pose for which imported and a complete list of equip-
ment with values.

b. A written assurance with sufficient corrobating details
that the possibility of local hiring has been unsuccessful.

c. Applicant must await decision of the Governor in Coun-
cil before importing equipment or articles.

d. If approval be given applicant must enter into a bond
as required by the paragraph quoted.

2. Should equipment and articles be imported contrary to
the above requirements, the consignee will be liable for the full
amount of duty based on the C.I.F. valuation.

TO BUILDING CONTRACTORS AND PLUMBERS
Where a permit for the construction of a septic tank has been
issued by the Health Department, then such tank shall be built
of concrete, either precast or poured in place. Poured septic
tanks shall have a minimum wall top and bottom thickness of
four (4) inches. Septic tanks constructed by precasting shall have
a minimum wall thickness of two (2) inches and not less than
four (4) inches for the top slab, and shall be adequately rein-
forced to facilitate handling.
Concrete block tanks with cement finish and rendering the
sides and bottom of hard ground with cement ARE NOT PER-
MITTED.

SIn exercise of the powers conferred upon the Governor in
Council by Section 2 of The Frederick Rudolph Moultrie Pension
Act 1960, the following Order is hereby made:-








1. This Order may be cited as the Frederick Rudolph Moul-
trie Pension Order 1961.
2. A Pension at the rate of Twelve hundred pounds (1200)
er annum is hereby granted to Frederick Rudolph Moultrie as
from the 9th day of June, 1960.
3. The pension granted by this Order shall be in satisfac-
tion of and in substitution for any right, title, interest or claim
to or in any pension or gratuity which he now has or may have
under any other Act.

THE BAHAMA ISLANDS
RULES GOVERNING THE AWARD OF CERTIFICATES
AND BADGES OF HONOUR
Her Majesty the Queen has been pleased to approve the
award, under the following rules, of Certificates and Badges of
Honour to residents of the Bahama Islands who, in the case of
servants of the Government of the Bahama Islands or of any Pub-
lic Board, Public Authority or Local Government have rendered
or may hereafter .render loyal and valuable service worthy of
special recognition or, in the case of other persons who have by
their loyalty and meritorius conduct been of exceptional benefit
to the people of the Bahama Islands. For this purpose a person
shall be deemed to be a resident of the Bahama Islands if he or
she was born in the Bahama Islands or has been ordinarily resi-
dent in the Bahama Islands for not less than 10 years prior to the
date of the award.
1. The Certificate shall be awarded by the Governor or the
Officer Administering the Government.
2. The Certificate shall bear Her Majesty's portrait together
with the name of the recipient and a brief account of the ser-
vices which it commemorates and shall be signed by the Governor
or other officer for the time being administering the Government.
3. (i) The Certificate shall carry with it the right to wear a
Badge which will be worn on the breast, on official occasions
when full-size Medals are worn.
The badges issued with the Certificate will be known as the
"Badge of Honour".








The Badges shall be of silver gilt and shall bear on the ob-
verse Her Majesty's crowned effigy and on the reverse the Coat
of Arms of the Bahama Islands.
The ribbon shall be of yellow water silk.
(ii) Miniatures of the breast Badge may be worn when
miniatures are worn.
(iii) The Badge of Honour will be placed immediately
after the Colonial Police Medal for Meritorious Serice in the
official order in which Orders, Decorations and Medals are worn.
4. The names of the recipients of the Certificate shall be
published in the Official Gazette.
5. If any person to whom a Certificate has been awarded
shall be guilty of misconduct or of disloyalty to the Government
such person may be deprived of it by the Governor or the Officer
Administering the Government, who shall have power to restore
it to such person.
A report of the circumstances of every case in which the Gov-
ernor or Officer Administering the Government exercises his pow-
er under this rule to deprive a person of a Certificate or to re-
store a Certificate shall be submitted to the Secretary of State for
the Colonies.
6. Upon the death of apy recipient of the Certificate the
Badge shall forthwith be returned to the Governor or Officer Ad-
ministering the Government unless he shall in any instance deem
otherwise expedient, but in no case shall the Badge be worn by
any other but the person to whom the Certificate is awarded.
