WHEREAS by Notice No. 294 dated the 24th December,
1960 and published in the Official Gazette dated the 24th De-
cember 1960, the Governor in Council declared that it was his

intention on behalf of the Promoters The Board of Education to
acquire the land described in the Schedule hereto
AND WHEREAS His Excellency the Governor is of the
opinion that it is necessary that possession of the selected land
should be obtained by the Promoters before payment is made to
rightful claimants to the property described in the Schedule here-
to
NOW THEREFORE, it is hereby notified that the selected
land has been appropriated by the Promoters mentioned in the
said notice with effect from the date of this notice.

Island having such shape boundaries and dimensions as are

(200) feet Westerly by land the property of L. G. Simms and run-

INSPECTION OF CABS, DRAYS AND CARTS
Owners and drivers of Horse Cabs, Drays and Carts are in-
formed that an inspection of all Horse Cabs and Horses, Drays
nd Horses, all Carts and Draught Animals will be held as
under:-
Cabs at FORT CHARLOTTE at 10 a.m. on Wednesday
18th January 1961.
Drays and Carts at FORT CHARLOTTE at 10 a.m. on
Thursday 19th January, 1961.
Carts at FOX HILL at 10 a.m. on Friday 20th January,
1961.
The Cab Board will not hold any other inspection during
this quarter, and vehicles not licensed at this time will not be
licensed until the June quarter, 1961.

OPENING OF THE LEGISLATURE BY HIS EXCELLENCY
THE GOVERNOR, AT 11.00 A.M. ON THURSDAY 12th
JANUARY, 1961
BAY STREET between EAST STREET and PARLIAMENT
STREET will be closed to traffic from 10.30 a.m. Thursday 12th
January, 1961 until after His Excellency the Governor has de-
parted and the Guard of Honour marched off.
For the duration of this period EAST STREET between
BAY and SHIRLEY STREETS will be open to South Bound
Traffic only. EAST STREET SLIP and SHIRLEY STREET be-
tween EAST STREET and PARLIAMENT STREET will be open
to two-way traffic.
West Bound Traffic will proceed by EAST STREET, SHIR-
LEY and PARLIAMENT STREET to BAY STREET.
From 7 a.m. until after the ceremony is over, no parking
will be allowed on that portion of EAST STREET between BAY
and SHIRLEY STREETS and EAST STREET SLIP.

Arrangements have been made whereby returning residents
can obtain certificates from Customs Officers in the event that
advantage is not taken of the baggage exemption and they desire
to apply this to a subsequent journey.
It should, however, be pointed out that the exemption or any
part thereof can only be allowed once in a calendar year.

CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
Applications are invited for the following vacant posts in
Government Departments.

MEDICAL DEPARTMENT
Two (2) Health Assistants (Male). Applicants must hold the
Cambridge School Certificate or equivalent. Salary in the range
of 450-950. (365-440 if under 20 years of age). Successful
applicants will be on probation for one year and if considered
satisfactory, will be given the opportunity to study for one
scholastic year at a recognized Public Health Training School.
CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION.
One (1) Typist-Receptionist Salary in the range of 450-670.
CIVIL AVIATION DEPARTMENT
Six (6) Traffic Control Officers. Must be at least 21 years of
age. Should hold the. Cambridge Senior Certificate or its
equivalent. Will be on three months' probation and training at
a salary of 600 per annum. After completion of training success-
ful candidates will be graded in at a salary of 760-1390.
One (1) Clerk (Male). Should hold the Bahamas Junior Cer-
tificate or its equivalent. Salary in the range of 450-670.
PORT & MARINE DEPARTMENT.
One (1) Typist. Salary in the range of 670-970.

Service Commission, in the House of Myers (ground floor) on the
corner of Bay Street and Victoria Avenue, and when returned
should be accompanied by three recent testimonials from re-
sponsible persons.
