Obstruction and Encroachment
Into Public Roads
The Public is informed that the Board of Works will not
undertake or be responsible for the pruning back or removal of
bushes, vines, shrubs or similar growths originating inside private
property, and now extending into and over the public roads, side-
walks, footpaths, etc.
The pruning or cutting back, into line with the property shall
be performed by the owner or responsible person concerned. No
rubbish or debris may be left in the public road.
The Board draws particular attention to the heavy growth
of bushes and vines mainly thorny bougainvilleas extending for
several feet into the roadways and over sidewalks to the incon-
venience and danger of persons and traffic.
The Public are asked to have the required pruning perform-
ed and cleared not later than 21st November 1960.

THE NASSAU WATER AND SEWERAGE DEPARTMENT
PLUMBING AND SANITATION ORDERS
The Plumbing and Sanitation Orders issued on the 16th day
of August 1938 as amended by the Plumbing and Sanitation
Order issued on the 1st day of July 1946 are hereby further
amended by deleting order 8A thereof and substituting therefore
the following:
8A. Where any house-sewer is joined to a street-
sewer, the charge for the work done in connection there-
with shall be five pounds (5 0 0): Provided that the
owner of the premises shall extend his house-sewer as far
as the street-sewer in accordance with instructions from the
Inspector and shall reinstate the sidewalk and gutter and
shall pay in advance six shillings (6/-) per lineal foot for
street reinstatement."

Act, Chapter 10, are published for general information.

Made Under
THE WATER AND SEWERAGE ACT
(Chapter 10)
In exercise of the powers conferred upon them by section 35
of the Water and Sewerage Act (Ch. 10) the Public Board of
Works for New Providence with the approval of the Governor
in Council hereby make the following Rules:

1. These Rules may be cited as the Water Supply Amend-
ment (No. 2) Rules 1960 and shall be read as one with The Water
Supply Rules 1953 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Rules).

2. Rule 6 of the Principal Rules is hereby amended by de-
leting the words and symbol "The sum to be charged for such
connection shall be prescribed by the Board." appearing in lines
3, 4, and 5 thereof.

3. Rule 25 of the principal Rules is hereby amended
(a) by deleting paragraph (2) thereof and substituting
therefore the following:
"(2) Interim Readings of Meters
When at the request of a consumer a reading
of a meter is made at a time other than that
of the normal reading a charge of ten shillings
shall be made for every such reading. At
the time of any such interim reading the
Board shall, if so requested by the consumer,
turn the water on or off."
(b) by deleting the word "Five Shillings" appearing in
line 2 of paragraph (3) thereof and substituting
therefore the words "one pound".
(c) by deleting the words "Ten Shillings" appearing in
in lines 3 and 4 of paragraph (4) thereof and sub-
stituting therefore the words "one pound".
(d) by adding at the end thereof as paragraph (6) the
following
"(6) Change in the location of Meter at the
Requests of the Owner
The charge for changing the location of a
meter at the request of the owner shall be the
actual cost of the work or the estimate payable
under a "Work Order."

4. Rule 26 of the principal Rules is hereby deleted and
the following substituted therefore:
"26. The connection of every Supply Pipe with any
Service Pipe or Main shall be made by the Board, and
paid for in advance by the owner of the premises con-
cerned, the amount to be charged for connections of dif-
ferent sizes of Supply Pipe being as follows:
%" pipe 15-0-0 with deferred payments
1" pipe 20-0-0 with no deferred payments
114" pipe 25-0-0 with no deferred payments
2" or 3" pipe 30-0-0 with no deferred payments."

5. The principal Rules are hereby amended by adding after
rule 26A thereof the following heading and rule:









"IIIB Road Reinstatement Charges
26B. The charge for road reinstatement occasioned by
trenching and damage to any Service Pipe or Main shall
be at the rate of 6/- per lineal foot of road so requiring
reinstatement.

In exercise of the powers conferred upon them by section
35 of the Water and Sewerage Act, the Public Board of Works
for New Providence with the approval of the Governor in Coun-
cil hereby make the following Rules:
1. These Rules may be cited as the Sewerage Amendment
Rules 1960.
2. The Sewerage Rules 1960 are hereby amended by delet-
ing the word "two" appearing in line two of rule 3 thereof and
substituting therefore the word "three".

this 1st day of November, 1960.
